Enjoy Our 'Sunshine' in Kitty Hawk North Carolina
- Minimum stay:N/A

Sunshine is a true North Carolina beach cottage designed for easy living while at the beach. Our guests can kick off their shoes after a long walk on the beach and relax on the decks with a gentle ocean breeze. Inside, they will find a great room with comfy furnishings, a large cable TV, and a desk with high speed internet.
The spacious dining table and a long counter with stools provides seating for everyone. We have enjoyed many pounds of fresh Carolina shrimp at that table. I have included some simple seafood recipes in the full kitchen just in case you would like to try out your skills.
The master bedroom suite permits guests to get away if they like. There is a queen size bed, a full bath, and a den with cable TV. We have lots of books for our guests. We do not feel a week at the beach is complete unless there are good books to read. There is a nearby library for other selections.
There are table games and puzzles for family fun. The PlayStation Two has games and there are movies as well. Outside in the naturalized yard, there is a large charcoal grill, picnic area, swing, horseshoes, fish cleaning station, and a private outside shower.
There is an excellent National Park nearby honoring Orville and Wilbur Wright and their first flight resulting in the birth of flight in America. Sunshine is located about two miles from the Memorial. There is an excellent North Carolina Aquarium in nearby Manteo.
In the same area, guests will learn about the first English settlers on the Outer Banks. Enjoy your beach walks and leave us a couple of shells as a memory of your visit.
The Beach is calling.

I stayed at “Sunshine” for the month of October and loved every minute. The owner, Norma, was a pleasure to work with, easy to get in touch with, very helpful, the perfect hostess. The house shows a lot of thoughtful attention to details to welcome guests: there are board games, books, DVDs, restaurant information and tips, and various other thoughtful items designated for guests’ use. The house is very spacious and comfortable but for me the decks were the ultimate feature. There’s a lovely ocean view from the top deck, the middle has nice shade and a hammock, and the lower deck is just off the kitchen so it was my breakfast and lunch area. I also loved the outdoor shower after a day on the beach. Right down the road there’s a bike rental place where I was able to rent a beach cruiser for the month. I highly recommend seeing the beach this way; (pedal over to the sound side, it’s gorgeous). Also, a close-by restaurant High Cotton had some of the best BBQ and home cooking I’ve had since I left North Carolina many moons ago. I had a blissful stay. Sunshine is a lovely place and I hope to return one of these days.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our first visit to the Kitty Hawk area and we definitely will return. Our family enjoyed our stay at your home very much. The decks were gorgeous sit out on. Very close to the beach. There was a surfing contest the first day we were there. We saw and HEARD dolphins from the shore almost everyday. The community was quiet and comfortable. We really enjoyed visiting some of the local restaurants and fish markets and cooking out. Thanks so much.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

The property is exactly as advertised - all the ammenities of home and within walking distance to a nice quiet beach. The neighborhood is very quiet and the house is close to stores and all the local restuarants - no more than 5 miles from anything you need! There are ample decks to sit and enjoy - and the upper deck is a great place to hang out at night. Kitchen is stocked with anything you need and there is a charcoal grill. I thought the outdoor shower was great for getting all the sand off after hitting the beach! We hit "tripadvisor.com" for local restarant recommendations for Kitty Hawk and surrounding towns (like Kill Devil Hills) and loved Gombays, Hurricane Mo's, Barefoot Bernies - all within 3 miles from the house! I wished we could have hit them all. On the Outer Banks, but still a short drive to Duck or Manteo. Great experience with the owners as well - they were very responsive and all communications/etc. for payments and rental agreements were done very professionally with no problems. This is a great place to stay if you are looking to hang out at the beach for the day and then want to enjoy some local places for dinner. And if you just want to stay in for dinner, it's minutes to run to the local grocery store to get some steak to throw on the grill! I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we were to visit Kitty Hawk again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children.

About the owner: My husband, Steve, and I have enjoyed the Northern Outer Banks of North Carolina since we were small children. Some of my favorite memories are of surf fishing with my Dad on the beach in Kitty Hawk watching the sun rise out of the water. We live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia now and go to the beach at every opportunity.
Why the Owner Chose Kitty Hawk:
Our home, Sunshine, is located close to a small cottage we rented when our son was a toddler. The same beach located beyond our home, is the beach I fished with my Dad. At that time, there was lots of open space and a few older beach homes which have long since joined the briney deep. No matter where we have lived, when I open the door at Kitty Hawk, I feel I am home. My family knows not to talk to me on the day we leave to return home until we cross the bridge to the mainland. It has become a family joke, but I really do hate to leave.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Lindbergh is a quiet street situated between the Beach Rd (NC Rt 12) and the Rt 158 Bypass. It is ideal for biking, jogging, long walks, and relaxation. You have easy access to the beach at each end of the block. We have worked hard to maintain our dune lines and the beach access points make a big difference. You are close enough to the beach, approximately 150 feet, that you can hear the ocean and enjoy the soft pad of the surf on the beach. Our home is at the 3 1/2 milepost providing easy access to the rest of the Outer Banks. Golfing, fishing, fishing piers, boating, shopping, restaurants, movies, groceries are all close by. While at our home, there are TVs with cable, Sony Play Station Two with games, movies, puzzles, table games, and lots of good books. What is a week at the beach without a good book?
