Within walking distance is Oakfield Golf and Country Club located in beautiful Grand Lake. Oakfield has a championship 18 hole golf course re-designed by Graham Cooke and all the amenities including a large clubhouse with banquet facilities, driving range and a private beach.
Close by is Oakfield Park situated on Grande Lake. This beautiful day park has picnic areas, and a beach area and walking trail. As well boaters can launch onto Grand Lake, which is 9 miles long and is easily the most popular lake in Nova Scotia for sport fishing and other water sports. Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, Landlocked Salmon, Chain Pickerel & Speckled Trout abound in Grand Lake.

We do not have enough fabulous comments to express our fantastic stay on this beautiful property. The photos do not do the house and yard justice. The house was very big with lots of space for company. The deck was fantastic, catching all the afternoon sun. The water in the lake is very warm (warmer than many hotel pools, our nieces informed us). Our young children had lots of space to run around and took full advantage of the giant yard. The property was very well maintained and house was clean with plenty of bedding and towels. There are three very large bedrooms upstairs with an office (with a futon) downstairs. The house was very convenient to travel to the airport. Our trip in to Halifax was quick and painless. There was a great pizza place down the road. We did not travel around a lot, except for heading into Halifax to attend a wedding (and the connecting meals, parties, etc.). We spent most of our time visiting and entertaining friends and family on the deck, enjoying the glorious weather. We would definitely recommend this property to anybody who truly wants to relax. It was spectacular. The only thing I would have like to have was a lobster pot (I didn't ask for one - I'm sure they would have brought one by). I ended up cooking the lobster on the barbeque - it worked just as well. If we go back to Halifax we would stay here again. Thanks for a fantastic holiday!!

We stayed in Dave house for a week and everything was wonderful. The house was gourgeus and Dave was excellent. There was nothing that we needed or wanted that he didn't provide. I was worried about the train that ran on the other side of the lake but it never bother us at all. As a matter of fact in the morning with the reflection on the lake it was a beautiful sight. Would stay again if I ever went back to Canada.
