Come and enjoy the north woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula on beautiful Iron Lake. This 3-bedroom home has 300 ft of frontage on a quiet 300 acre lake just minutes from Iron River and US 2.

Majestic cedars pepper the lake side while a stand of trees on each side of the property provides a feeling of seclusion and privacy. It doesn't matter what time of year ... every season possesses a unique feeling in this area of the Upper Peninsula.

In the spring and summer ... well, just come and relax. Hang a hammock (included) between two cedars and read a book or take a nap. Fish from the pier or from one of the boats. Take a quiet walk down the road or through the woods. Kayak around the lake and watch for eagles, deer, loons, and other wildlife. The shoreline is all sand for the first 15 feet. A nice, clear, spring-fed Wisconsin lake, the water is always refreshing. Snorkel off the end of the pier and watch the little fish come nibble on you. (paddle boat, kayak, 10' alum boat with oars provided, inc life vests)

In the fall, the view of the hardwoods across the lake provides a private showing of changing color. No other properties are visible directly across from us. The crisp air is refreshing and can make you feel alive. A fire in the lake-side fire pit is a great way to salute the end of the day. (firewood provided)

In the winter, enjoy an exceptional sledding and skiing hill in Caspian, just on the edge or Iron River. Ski Brule is only 20 minutes away with snowboarding, tubing, cross country trails and excellent skiing. A number of quality cross country ski trails are located within minutes of Iron River along with 4-wheeler trails. A large plaza is on the edge of town with big grocery store, movie theator, Pamida 5&dime, pharmacy, hardware. Fast food and great specialty shops and restaurants throughout Iron Riven. Many of the UP's finest waterfalls are within minutes of here. Ice fishing is popular throughout the area, including on Iron Lake. Snowmobiling is a very popular sport with the local visitor's bureau having maps and details.

The house is fully equipped with virtually all the amenities you'll need for an enjoyable stay.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

Barb: I grew up on a lake in the eastern upper peninsula of Michigan and have always loved the water. I love the sound of the waves, the fresh smell of the water, and the beauty of the sunsets over the water. Jim: I am a lifetime Scout and conservationist ... been out in a lot of Wisconsin and UP areas ... and have fallen in love with this property, the lake, and the area. Due to high taxes, we have now opened "da lake house" for others to enjoy.

Why the Owner Chose Iron River

We bought the property becuase it was so private and quaint. We wanted a place just for ourselves, but to continue to afford to have this luxury, we're happy to share it.

The Unique Benefits of this House

This property is so perfect if you enjoy the quiet solitude of a vacation on a lake. There are eagles and loons, cedars and birch, walleye, northerns and bass, and of course peace and quiet. There is over 300 feet of private lakefront to explore and a totally equipped house to retreat to when you've had too much fun outside.

Beautiful sunsets, pretty lake, campfires, and kicking back.

Jim- Our family had a blast at your place. It is a very private, clean, and warm place. The lake was beautiful (you should take some additional photos to post!) and the property was very cozy & comfortable. The town is close enough that we can run out to get anything needed. I didn't get to fly fish the Iron River for trout, but we did end up catching a LOT of nice blue gills with the kids. The lake is the right size for the boats you have, making the rides easy and comfortable. Thanks again and look forward to staying there again.

Great place. Many comforts of home. Very clean. Unbelievable wildlife right at your front door. Great fishing right off the pier. Our dog loved swimming and playing in the water. Warm days and cool comfy evening. Fire pit was great too. Not a busy lake at all. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Can't wait to return next summer

Relaxing and fun

We had a great time staying at "Da Lake House" for 6 days in late-July. The weather was perfect and there were remarkably few bugs to deal with. The house was just what we needed, though the kitchen did lack some of what I consider "essentials" like a baking/casserole dish, a 12" frying pan, a good cutting board, and some serving dishes. But we made it work, and bought some supplemental stuff at the local Family Dollar. The television leaves a lot to be desired (it cuts off the top and bottom of the image) but that was actually a blessing as we read lots of books and played games (which they had at the house) instead! The lake was wonderful, and having access to a canoe, kayak, paddle boat, row boat and the various accessories was terrific. That made the trip. We would look forward to a return trip sometime!

The Lake House was very comfortable. It was a beautiful serene setting and the perfect place to relax and enjoy all the beauty nature has to offer. The owner provided much information about the area and maintained great communication. Everything was as advertised, no surprises. We would definitely rent this place again and highly recommend it.

Our family had a great time at the cottage, in Iron River and at George Young Golf Course. We rented online and had a great experience connecting with the family we rented from. They were very accommodating of our dog which is important to us. Great views, equipment on site, fire pit for evening gatherings.

Great place!!!!

If you like relaxing waterfront vacation on a quiet lake, this is the place for you. The house is very clean and comfortable, great views of the lake from the kitchen and living room. Small sandy beach area where the kids can play and a dock for fishing. We caught (and released) 20in pike, bass, bluegill. A kayak, canoe, and rowboat are available (and we used them all). Kayaking around the still, quiet lake in the early morning, listening to the loons and watching the deer and eagles....nothing better. Lots of wildlife to view. The property is very private and the lake is NOT overpopulated. Not a place if you want speedboats and jetskis (only shared the lake with a few other fishermen in rowboats). There are a few houses in front of the lake house but not used at the time. The porkies are about 70miles away and makes a great day trip and the Iron Co. Museum (if you like history) is very interesting!! and only a few miles away. Iron River is only four miles away (handy for the many trips because I always forget something) yet the property feels like you are very remote. For us, this place was ideal and exactly as described (but we feel it was better than what we actually expected from the description). The owner was easily accessible, by email or phone, and always very helpful. We would LOVE to return next year. For those with young children, during the whole week we never once heard "I'm bored, what can I do?" A great kid place. A great grown-up place!!
