Location:
Artisan House is 200 yards across the bridge to downtown Monte Rio's attractions. Just across the bridge, there's a public beach for swimming, fishing, and boat rentals, and movie theater.
Walk to the grocery store, the Pink Elephant Bar, and Fern's pizza and video rentals. The Village Inn, with its charming vintage bar, excellent restaurant, award winning wine list, and river view, is a five minute walk.
House:
This splendid Craftsman lodge may become your favorite vacation rental. One of the finest homes in the river area, this artisan's masterpiece features 3500 square feet of luxurious comfort.
Entering the front door through a wisteria arbor, the main living area has an enormous great room, with a comfortable living room area with wood stove at one end, a dining room area with massive teak table and gracious seating for eight, a gas fireplace at the other end, and a gourmet kitchen in the middle, all under lodge beamed ceilings.
Comfortable seating, a stereo, and 32" Cable TV with VCR and DVD complete the picture. Sliders opening to an 1100 square foot deck. A half bath opens from the dining area.
Artisan House has three bedrooms, all upstairs. The master bedroom suite, with king bed, includes its own wood stove, a claw-foot tub, plus full bath with shower, and its own private deck.
The second bedroom has a queen bed and view of the trees. Up a small flight of stairs is a crow's nest bedroom, with queen bed and a half wall to the hallway. There is another full bath on the second floor, with shallow bathtub perfect for small children and a shower.
Two single floor futons provide additional sleeping. This home has high-speed Internet access. November through April, holidays excepted, the main Artisan House alone, sleeping eight, may be available as a rental at a reduced rate.
With the attached Granny Unit just a few steps away, Artisan House sleeps 14. The Granny Unit, washed in Mediterranean color, has its own, quite separate, charm. One bedroom has a queen bed, the second a double bed.
There is a small sleeping loft with a single bed reached by ladder through one of the bedrooms, and there is a single floor futon. The Granny Unit has its own living/dining room, washer/dryer, bath with combination tub/shower, television for movies only, and full, but simply furnished, kitchen.
Grounds: The grounds are over a third-acre, fully fenced. From the great room in the main house, French doors open to an 1,100 sf deck featuring a six-person hot tub, teak dining table for four, benches, and a gas grill.
Note: Because this is a very quiet neighborhood, no loud music or noise is permitted after 11 p.m. on weekends, 10 p.m. on weekdays. Please respect the peace and quiet of the neighbors!
