Accommodations: Cottage, 1 Bedroom + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)
Keywords: Cottage
Our cottage, built in 1997, provides the ideal setting for a romantic "getaway for two" or perfect accommodations and lodging while touring Western Washington. We're a quick 90 miles from Seattle, 54 miles from Vancouver B.C. and just outside the city limits of Bellingham. The cottage is nestled among cedar and fir trees on tranquil acreage overlooking the lake and has a fully equipped kitchen/living area, bedroom, bathroom, a private porch and an abundance of skylights for stargazing.
Our cottage is for two adults only and the property won a 1997 AIA (State Architectural Award) for contemporary design. Please click on our website link below for more photos, reviews, etc. We also have unsolicited reviews for Squalicum Lake Cottage on major travel sites too. Pls note we have a two night minimum.
The living room, with a vaulted beamed ceiling looks out onto Squalicum Lake and Squalicum Mountain. Large windows provide a view for watching the fish jump on the lake or enjoying the birds at the feeders. The cottage is situated in the middle of colorful perennial gardens and during the spring and fall you can see large flocks of migratory birds land on the lake.
The kitchen is fully equipped including a microwave, stove, oven, toaster, coffee maker and refrigerator. Dishes, utensils and pans are provided as well.
A white iron and brass queen sized foam (tempurpedic type) bed is covered with lots of pillows making it a great place to snuggle or take that long sought after nap. The guests at Squalicum Lake Cottage come to slow the pace of their daily lives.
Eagles and a wide variety of other birds are a common sight as well as deer wandering through the meadow. Should you visit in the summer you might spot a heron or kingfisher looking for a bite to eat in the 26,000-gallon pond right outside your door. Dozens of frogs chorus at evening time, along with soft owl duets often heard after dark.
Our guests initial comments are always that the website photos never do the property justice. How does one capture an entire mountain behind a lake?

After half a dozen trips to Bellingham in the last ten years, we have found the perfect place to stay! An oasis, surrounded by sights and sounds that overwhelm the senses; yet less than 10 minutes from the center of Bellingham. The cottagae is charming and inviting and the 'big black book' is such a wealth of information. Most impressive, however is the warmth and hospitality with which we were treated during our stay. Our only regret is that our stay is over!

If you are looking for a place to 'get away', this is just for you. We stayed for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed every day. The property is in excellent condition, well maintained, and has just the right amount of 'creature comforts'. The beautiful view from the porch, overlooking the lake, was picturesque. The owners made us feel welcome and comfortable. The rowboat trips around the lake made this property definately special and memorable. We would highly recommend this to any couple looking for peace and quiet. We want to return here on our next vacation to the Bellingham area.

The cottage more than met our expectations from the description and photos. A truly peaceful setting for reading, walking, rowing and shooting some great pics of the gardens and lake. This was our home base for exploring Bellingham, Fairhaven, Mt. Baker and the many scenic drives in the country nearby. The owners were there when needed, and invisible the rest of the time. This was a great two-day getaway for us; we gladly recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet refuge!

Weekend away from the kids. What a treasure this place is. We loved ending each day with a row around the lake and a nap. Last nite we could even see the stars through all the skylights. Can't wait to return.

Here to attend a Music Festival. This place is much nicer than anyplace we've found in Bellingham in the past years. Even better than your website. We loved the absolute quiet & peaceful atmosphere.
