True relaxation!!

Guest: Michael (Rancho Santa fe, California )

We enjoyed this log cabin in the wilderness. Truly a great place to unwind from our busy active schedules daily. I would strongly recommend this quiet getaway to anyone single, couple or family. The lake is beautiful and we had daily white tail deer hanging out in the yard. We will be back for another retreat.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the cabin! The property is beautiful and the cabin immaculately kept. I found that the owners were easy to deal with in the reservation process and ensured that all of our needs were met during our stay. I would highly recommend this as a relaxing a peaceful vacation spot year round. We look forward to our next trip!

I was staying in this Cabin for 3 days from Jan 20. Living there is very good specially with other 6 friends. We enjoyed the beautiful white winter. The land and lake were beautifully covered by snow and we had such a nice gorgeous scenery that have never had before. I am sure that we will go there again in summmer time to see the nice lake and enjoy the weather. Every body will like this private nice property. Inside the cottage was very warm and convenient. Thanks to the owners who provided me all the facilities for living there. Tata Vancouver

Unforgetable weekend

Guest: Johnny (North Vancouver, BC)
Date of Stay: 01/20/12 Review Submitted: 01/29/12

I was there with my wife and 4 other couples friends last weekend, arrived in a -17 snowing evening. The access was easy and the warm wood burning fireplace and clean beautiful log house with complete modern facilities gave us such a pleasureous evening with BBQ, wine and fun card games. we enjoyed the evening and woke up the next morning with the smell of our omelet and freshly brewed coffee, noticing the unbelievable scenery surrounding us. We walked in the powder snow to the lake and even walked on the frozen lake for an hour, taking pictures, relaxing in the quiet and refreshing environment. Our two nights and three days of stay was in a blink of an eye. we enjoyed so much and decided to re-visit this magnificent place again in the summer to see the other beautiful face of this hidden treasure. For people looking for a moments away from hectic work and life style this vacation place is highly recommended.

Great time had by All

Guest: DJP (Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 10/07/11 Review Submitted: 10/13/11

My family (3 teens, 2 adults) had a wonderful time at the cabin for a long weekend, We hiked, spent time on the lake in the paddleboat (lake access is a 5 minute walk), took our dirt bikes into the local hills, and hosted an impromptu Thanksgiving dinner for 12. We were very happy with the accommodations, the space, the location (no cell phone service past Pemberton helped us "unplug" but the wi-fi made internet possible so we weren't totally cut off). We found it clean and well appointed, We will recommend it to friends and hope to be back next year if not sooner.

Idyllic Getaway

Guest: Glenn (Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 08/07/11 Review Submitted: 09/14/11

This is a spectacular location; mountains all around, a lake on the property, impressive waterfall (if you are willing to hike a bit and truly relaxing. We were warmly welcomed by Mahine and Mike, the owners of this lovely property, who provided us with all we needed to know about the amenities and left us to ourselves to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. And we did enjoy ourselves. Cocktails on the deck in the evening with the sun burnishing the mountains in red and gold hues. Coffee in the morning with the deer who come by to graze on the apples and cherries from the trees on the lawn. We hiked to nearby Place Creek Falls, trail access is on the property and Joffre Lakes which also close by (by car). You can be as active or inactive as you want to be. We had a great time and got just what we were looking for. It was perfect.

Weekend Summer Stay

Guest: Ryan (West Vancouver, BC, Canada)
Date of Stay: 08/05/11 Review Submitted: 08/14/11

My friends and I stayed at the log cabin for an extended weekend and we had a great time. The cabin is very nice, with a great blend of modern amenities in a rustic log cabin. The surrounding area is of course beautiful and Gates Lake was great for boating and swimming. The owner was also very helpful with hiking and fishing advice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone.

Beautiful Relaxing Location

Guest: Liam and Mary (Seattle WA)
Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

My family and I had a great vacation here in July. The log cabin is beautiful and is set back about a 3 min walk from the lake in a very open area where you can see mountains surrounding you. It was great to wake up in the morning and sit there with our coffee and enjoy the view. We saw a ton of dear walking through the area. If you are interested in fishing, the lake is a great place (and I highly recommend Brad Knowles of "Pemberton Fish Finder" who is an amazing fish guide). Liam

Hidden Treasure

Guest: Alex (New York)
Date of Stay: 07/04/11 Review Submitted: 07/14/11

I am hesitant to tell anyone how nice this place was, because I'd rather not have to fight to get back on the rental calendar in the future. Arriving after a day of travel from New York City, this property proved to be well worth the effort. It is the only way to genuinely experience the beauty and tranquility of this part of the world. I found the place to be exactly as advertised. Clean and well equipped for the casual visitor. As nice as the photos are of the surrounding environment they can't come close to the actual beauty and drama of the view out the windows, from the deck, or while exploring the property and lake. If you have been searching for a true escape from the reality of the common hustle and bustle, your search has ended.

A great weekend getaway

Guest: aynsb (Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 05/31/11

My friends and I had a fabulous weekend at this cabin. The cabin itself is cozy and welcoming with a beautiful deck, on which we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. The scenery is breathtaking, rain or shine. I wondered from the photos if it could possibly be as private as it seemed and it was in fact more so. The owners are friendly and accommodating, and the cabin is fully equipped for a relaxing and worry-free vacation. We barely ventured off the property- only to pick up a few odds and ends in nearby Pemberton- but if organic and local food is your thing, it seems that this is a great spot. We found at least a few farms around Pemberton and Mount Currie selling local veggies, baking, etc. This cabin is a gem, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a rustic BC getaway. The only drawback was that sleeping arrangements were a little awkward for three couples but totally workable for a weekend, and worth it to be on such a beautiful and reasonably priced vacation. I'd love to go back.

3 nights not enough!

Guest: Debbie (Ireland, England & West Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 01/01/11 Review Submitted: 01/25/11

3 nights here just not enough time to enjoy it all. We went snowshoeing and walking on frozen lakes and looking at animal tracks. We saw a grey fox and a coyote. We would all like to win the lottery and do this all the time instead of working. Thanks. Debbie, Kelvin, Gary, Siobhan, (from Ireland, England and West Vancouver) January 2011

Directions were great, very relaxing and warm. (Mattress on master bed not very comfortable) I would recommend to friends. We had a lovely time. Owner was very helpful and called after we arrived to make sure we got there which was nice considering the bad weather and icy roads. Beautiful lake and Whistler was an easy enough drive to get to.

Amazing Log Cabin Getaway

Guest: Julie (Vancouver)
Date of Stay: 10/22/10 Review Submitted: 01/26/11

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful Log Cabin in October 2010, to celebrate our Anniversary and it was perfect. The cabin itself is beautiful, cozy, and complete getaway from city living. We loved the fireplace and wood stove, and views all around us were delightful. The cabin sits on a large piece of land, and is just a short walk away from a nearby lake with hiking trails nearby. We loved just relaxing at the cabin, reading with a glass of wine in front of the fire and we'd love to return some day to enjoy the summer or winter weather. It may be important to some, but there is no cell phone coverage or internet available onsite, however there is a phone hooked up which you'd probably need a phone card to use. The kitchen is also set up with everything you'd need to cook meals. If you're lucky you might even see some local wildlife from your window. We can't wait to return!

We had a great time in Birken cottage at Gates Lake. This cozy lovely log cabin gives you the real experience of a countryside not very far from Whistler, the most beautiful ski resort in BC. The clean warm nicely decorated interior, along with lakeside peaceful exterior makes you stay forever! I strongly recommend this place ;)

A truly beautiful place!!

Date of Stay: 09/12/10 Review Submitted: 09/27/10

Our stay at the cabin was everything we hoped for and more. The cabin was very clean and well kept and was surrounded by the most beautiful views one could imagine. Inside the beds were comfortable, the fireplace was wonderful and the views from the large windows was tremendous. The lake is a short walk away and a pleasant place to sit on a warm day. The peace and quiet were great and seeing the amount of stars at night was awesome. Deer were common sights in the yard and would eat from the apple trees while we sat on the deck and showed no fear of us at all. There are many provincial parks in close proximity for hiking and picnicing and our favorites were Birkenhead Lake widlerness trail (do the cutoff to the wildrness camp sites and follow the lake trail back to the parking lot on your return trip for different views) which is about a 20 minute drive and Joffe Lakes which is about a 40 minute drive away but our favorite hike was the trek to the waterfall right on the cabins property and is a must for anyone staying in the cabin and is well worth the effort. Garabaldi park is also a wtihin and hours drive and offers many trails. Local farms, stores and dining are also close by with a very pleasant 20 minute drive to Pemberton and wildlife abounds in the area and we saw 2 black bears, several deer and 4 wild horses during our drive to town for supplies. We had a great time and hope to return some day and want to pass a very appreciative thanks on to Michael and Mahim for letting us stay in that little piece of heaven.

Perfect place for a quiet get-away

Guest: Sean and Nicole (Ontario)
Date of Stay: 08/28/10 Review Submitted: 03/22/11

My wife and I stayed here for our trip to B.C. at the beginning of September - we wanted to stay in the country, and we wanted to be able to cook for ourselves due to her Celiac Disease. To sum it up in 1 word, this place was breathtaking. I can't count the number of times we just went outside on the porch to stare in awe at the mountains, or the deer that were casually eating the apples on the ground. The cabin is surrounded by mountains on every side, and there's a beautiful lake only a 5 minute walk away. The cabin itself was very clean, very cozy, and a great place to unwind. We had a lot of day trips planned for going into Vancouver (2-3 hours away) but the cabin was so relaxing that we canceled 1 or 2 of those trips and just sat by the fireplace and played board games or watched movies. There's a lot of room at the cabin, inside and out. There's plenty of walking paths (a waterfall not *too* far away) and the closest town is only 20-30 minutes away. During our stay we got to enjoy the company of deer and bears (they're shy, don't worry), and had the luck of enjoying a few thunderstorms which are quite different than in Ontario where we're from. There's quite a few towns/villages on the way to Vancouver, including Whistler which is a great place to make some day trips to. The owners of the cabin were very nice to us. We had no problems with them at all and they gave us a tour when we got there. I definitely recommend this cabin. It's truly relaxing not having to worry about life! We hope to go back some day =)

We really enjoyed our stay. Kids loved playing “apple baseball”, and the deers loved cleaning up! Canoeing, + paddleboats were great. Loved the hammock by the lake. Didn’t want to clean up- because that would mean we’re leaving! No bears – but we saw lots at Whistler. Thanks. The G. Family, Kelowna, BC, August 2010

The cabin was everything that we hoped for. Wide open spaces, beautiful views and privacy. It is well maintained, clean and cozy. The nearby lake supplied with canoe, paddle boat and row boat were most convenient and we enjoyed using them for our pleasure. The 45 minute hike up to the waterfall was a definite highlight and also the nearby horse back riding and golfting. Overall we along with our three teenagers had a wonderul time and hope to return sometime in the future.

Guest: ziggers (kelowna,BC)
Date of Stay: 05/07/10 Review Submitted: 05/12/10

this cabin is a jewel-and even tho three hours{give or take} from a major metropolitan area-feels worlds away.i've never seen so many hummingbirds;i suppose that had alot to do with the trees in flower in early may.the fresh powder on the nearby peaks brilliantly contrast with a blue sky, indoors,a large stone fireplace harkens your mind back to a better time, when the hearth was central to a home.the beds are all amazing-not your industry standard....truly a stellar hideaway and a cut above.the owners were always helpful and never invasive as to our privacy-which is worth a star itself ,the way we rate accomadations.we hope to be back soon.

We stayed at your cabin for the Olympics and because of complications on our end never got around to letting you know how much we enjoyed staying there. Everything about it was tremendous. And even though it was a long drive to the Olympics each day the peace, quiet, and solitude was welcome after the excitement at Olympic Village. Thank you for your hospitality. When we get back to your beautiful province we will certainly consider another stay at the cabin we considered home for a week. Mary, New Mexico, USA
