Cape May condo description
Sitting high above Washington Street, this lofty apartment is just a short scenic walk to beaches, shopping and dining in the heart of Cape May. The location on Washington Street provides the convenience of a one-block-walk to downtown Cape May. It also provides the quiet and charm of gas street lights and the sights and sounds of horse drawn carriages through the Historic District.
There are two parking spaces for off street parking. Also, there are two outdoor showers. There are two full baths, and one half bath, which insure comfort for everyone (no more waiting!).
Want to stay in? The Tower apartment of Canterbury Manor offers 360 degree scenic views of all of Cape May from two balconies and the huge deck off the great room. Have your morning coffee on the front balcony off the master bedroom looking at the gardens below or relax in the evening and watch the carriages go by. The gas street lights are quite charming! Feel like you are in London or Paris as you look out over the rooftops from the side balcony. Be on top of the world or marvel at the night sky over the ocean from the comfortably furnished back deck. You won’t want to leave!

I have just returned from spending 6 nights at this rental. The location of this condo was accurate and was convenient to town as described. Washington Street is delightful and in the middle of the historic district. Parking was convenient and well laid out. The unit is small and to describe the living room as a great room is inaccurate. It is more like a cramped attic space converted to an apartment. You had to be very careful not to hit your head on the eaves when standing up from the bed or table. The deck is nice but is missing the arm chairs shown in the picture. The table is rusty and the umbrella is broken. The picture of the kitchen is accurate. The appliances are as shown in the picture. The most disappointing aspect of the unit is the cheap and uncomfortable beds and mattresses. The bedroom with the 2 twins has wire springs with thin hard mattresses. The bed is actually a trundle bed and, while making up the one that goes under the bigger frame, it kept collapsing. We finally gave up and did not use it. This is the type of bed you would find in a summer camp for kids. The mattress in the bigger bedroom had a ripped plastic mattress cover that was uncomfortable and noisy. Again, more appropriate for a motel where you rent by the hour. I wrote the agent the first day about the collapsing bed in the hopes of having it replaced, repaired etc but never heard back. There were no instructions of how to leave the unit or who to call if there were any problems. The internet connection did not work but I was able to connect to a local unsecured hot spot. The half bath was more like a utility closet and the vacuum was stored next to the toilet. The unit should be updated, the mattresses replaced and the overall place scrubbed clean. When making beds one could see heavy dust and dirt on the baseboards. Clothes were found under the beds and laundry was left in the dryer. All and all my most disappointing rental from VRBO. Cape May is lovely. The nature trails are a treat to visit. We particularly liked the Washington Inn for dinner but stay away from Elaine's dinner theater. Renting bikes is a great way to explore the town and the Cape May Zoo was a surprising hit.
