Whales Watch is a one bedroom, 1000 square foot wheel chair accessible beachfront duplex just steps from the beach! Sitting at the furthest point out on Heceta Beach, it has sweeping ocean views from the Siuslaw River Jetty to the Heceta Head Lighthouse. Sit in the dark and watch the lighthouse light sweep through the kitchen & living room. Perfect for watching Whales, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Pelicans, Sea Lions and other assorted wildlife. If it we're any closer to the ocean you'd need a wet-suit. The ocean breeze beckons you to sit out front on the cement patio and soak in the view!
The spacious bedroom has a queen size bed with Mediterranean Oak furniture a sitting area and it's own door to the bathroom. It also has an electric faux wood stove. The living room, kitchen and dining area is one large room right on the beach. There is a large hallway and utility room separating the two, with another entrance to the bathroom. The living room is furnished with comfortable overstuffed slip covered furniture and a mix of Antiques & Rattan. The love seat turns into a twin hide-a-bed and there is also a portable fold out twin bed. With a dining room table for 4, and a 2 person bar w/oak barstools there's always a place to eat and enjoy the view. Electric Faux Fireplace adds to the ambiance. The kitchen is well stocked with everything from wine glasses, blender, to crock pot & turkey roaster. Microwave, frost free refrigerator, and an electric range.(sorry no dishwasher).
The owners parents were at one time, "world travelers", so the furniture comes from around the world, and so do the Original Fine Art oil paintings. The 100 year old Bush & Gertz Cabinet Grand (upright) Piano is tuned & ready to have its ivory's tickled. We've even thrown in some sheet music, but if you have a favorite bring it along.
Whales Watch is perfect for couples or couples with small children. Four Adults will fit, but you'd better really like each other! It's also, just 4 blocks from the Joshua Dunes (BLM land that offers ATV'ing) which mostly is only used by our secluded neighborhood.

Why the Owner Chose Florence
We have lived here at Heceta Beach since 1994. Our house is a duplex, we live in half and the other half is our vacation rental. We enjoy sharing with others what we get to enjoy every day. My husband was from Milwaukee Wisconsin, via Texas & Alaska. And I was originally from Southern California. We fell in love with the small town atmosphere, and the temperate climate. It may be rainy, but you don't have to shovel rain, and the Ocean Breezes keep in even 70 in the summer.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I love the ever changing view. From Pelicans, Osprey and Bald Eagles to Whales, Sea Lions and the occasional River Otter. You just never know what's going to appear on the beach.
