Koh Samui is readily accessible from Bangkok on a one hour flight, and by ferry (1.5 hrs) from Surat Thani. It lies off the east coast of the Thai mainland and 'half-way' down the Andaman sea.
The Island is some 25 kms north to south and 20 wide. A perimeter road encircles it and makes access to all areas convenient. A car is must and they are easy and inexpensive to hire.
Villa 'Baan Aarami' is located on the quiet, unspoilt south coast of the beautiful island of Ko Samui. The area, called 'Nagalaya', consits of a total of 15 unique residences individually designed by each different owner.
Over 40 % of the community is naturally landscaped. There are no fences or walls just nature set on a hillside of palm trees, tropical vegetation, flowering shrubs, huge creative granite boulders....and yes, Thai sunshine and fabulous sunsets over the ocean!
The ocean itself is some 300 yards away and adjacent islands stand out green and verdantin, the blue of the Andaman sea. Aside from relaxing the main activities are Spa, health and massage treatments, swimming, sun bathing, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, fishing, walking, golfing and of course dining.
Thailand is rarely short of good restaurants and Ko Samui is no exception, or you can order take-away or prepare light and delicious meals at home. There is daily (6 days a week) maid and gardener service, so no need for house keeping and cleaning.
Baan Aarami is 'user-friendly' and a delight to live in. Whilst it has all amenities it chiefly revolves round its own ambience, character and feel. The house and garden occupy an area of some 1600 Sq Mtrs (17600 Sq Ft).
Super to relax in and also use as a base for walks in and around the estate. Set on the side of a hill it presents a fine training area for keen runners and walkers as well.
Community spirit is good and there is a wonderful community pool just 100 mtrs from the house with support club house and yoga salon. The award winning 'Kamalaya' one of Asia's finest Wellness Sanctuary's and Holistic Spa Resorts is only some 300 mtrs away from Nagalaya. Kamalaya recently won two major Asian Spa awards. Ngalaya can provide a wonderful base for those wishing to take advantage of all Kamalaya has to offer.

Year Purchased: 2006
Owners, Robin and Wendy Marston. British citizens living and working in Nepal for the last 30 yrs. Robin in the tourism industry- organizing trekking in the Himalayas, mountaineering, and in hotel management. Wendy as a designer and artist working with the skilled gold and silver artisans and craftsmen of the Kathmandu valley. Both also involved separately in charity work and animal support projects.
Why the Owner Chose Koh Samui
Visited Thailand many times over the years and got involved with Nagalaya and Kamalaya after friends invested and recommended these particular projects. At the time no building had started, but gradually we all got started, each using his/her own architects and designing and building to fit their own tastes and budgets. As a result there are some interesting, unusual and wonderful houses 'on the hill'. You must all know one or more particular estates or gaited communities back home, and like one of those, Nagalaya just had that stamp of individuality and quality from the word go.
The Unique Benefits of this House
A total change from our urban Nepal or European environments. An 'opt-out' if needed, or an involved, active, have fun with friends, place to be. House is easy to run and user friendly. The design with a main block and a small east wing joined by open wood slat decks offers community when needed, privacy when not!. Being on the hillside there is nearly always a breeze blowing up through the boulders and greenery and when something stronger comes along the storms can pour in from the ocean in a spectacular way and the 15 mtr high palm trees sway enticingly in the wind. Sunrises are gentle and sunsets can be dramatic. Daily (6 days a week)maid and gardener service. Good food, wine and exercise are on the doorstep. Help yourself.
