Not that we expected an unclean, small, undesirable home... Yet the home owners did surprise us with a wonderful welcome basket of goodies from a local store plus up-scale toiletries in every bathroom. The home is beautiful and comfortable with gorgeous views of the water and sunsets. We found the local people to be very friendly and relaxed. We were happy to stay at Cape Escape and learn more about Cape Charles.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Hi Pat, I (Melissa) just want to say thank you for this wonderful home! We have rented a few different homes, and are often disappointed. Before we get to a home I usually prepare myself to expect it to be not as nice as it looks online. Your home is even better than it looks online. Not only is it beautiful, but it is so well stocked with things we need. That is another area that is often disappointing in a a vacation rental. We have a large family and I love to cook, so it is so nice to have everything I need! It is obvious that you have considered what you would for want for your own family in a vacation home......beach towels, laundry soap, beautiful decor, etc.. Thank you for taking the extra time to make it a relaxing vacation for others! We are here to make memories with our children. I'm sure they will always talk about this wonderful home. I wish you could have heard the "ooohs & aahs" from them when we walked in! :) We will be enjoying the beach with them today. (which is in easy walking distance !) Thank you also for the lovely gift basket. Many blessings to you -Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

My family and I stayed here the week leading up to July 4. House is wonderful. Spacious. Very well equipped. Great master bathroom. Top notch appliances etc. Nice extra touches -- welcome basket, beach towels; beach chairs and umbrellas in garage for guest use. Short stroll to little beach on bay. Very quiet. Cape Charles is VERY low-key. Only 45 minutes to Va Beach for beach town action/waves etc. Deposit returned timely.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We look forward to our summer vacations at your lovely home. This year the grandchildren visited and we enjoyed spending time fishing, crabbing and swimming with them. There is so much for them to do in Cape Charles. We love the fact that we do not have to bring beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, etc. Everything is right there for us to use. It's just perfect. We had some down time once the children left and were able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets from the deck. We love the Aqua Restaurant being so close that we can walk to dinner and not worry about driving. Thanks so much for allowing us to rent your little piece of heaven!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We stayed at Cape Escape during the weekend of Oct. 9, for my son's wedding and I have to say that this was one of the most beautiful and well appointed rental homes we have ever rented. As vacation rental home owners ourselves we can truly appreciate the overall experience of being in a home with all your needs, down to every detail. The kitchen supplied every tool one would need to prepare a gourmet meal or just a snack. The decor was awesome, from the choice of wall color to the furnishings. We would definitely book this home again when traveling to Cape Charles. The weather could not have been better that weekend, and the wedding was beautiful on the beach. The extra fridge in the garage came in handy because we had to store the flowers that were brought from the Hampton Roads area, so glad that was there....thank you for allowing us the opportunity to have a comfortable stay in such a beautiful home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

We had high expectations of Cape Escape, but it still managed to exceed them. The lovely spacious home, is a fantastic base from which to explore Chesapeak Bay area. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets from the Sky Room. Fantastic living space. The owners were a pleasure to rent from, exceptionally helpful, with good communication.Did you find this review helpful? We rented this property along with 2 other couples for a long weekend getaway. The pictures on the website are beautiful but in no way do the home justice! The house is absolutely beautiful and the owner's have gone way out on the decorating. It is hard to believe that this property is a rental. It was immaculately clean upon arrival which was nice to see. The kitchen is FULLY equipped with everything you could possible need if you decide to cook a few times while staying. There is this super handy book with all the local restaurants listed (including menus), entertainment options, location of local seafood/produce markets, local winerys, and even a Food Lion discount card for the local grocery store! They have thought of absolutely everything you could possible need. We will definately be renting this place again in the future if we return to Cape Charles.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Other reviewers are correct: the pictures, lovely as they are, do not do justice to this home. The house is extremely spacious, beautifully decorated, and immaculately clean. Large, comfortable master bedroom had walk in closet, 2 deliciously comfortable armchairs, huge master bath with double sinks, whirlpool tub and large stall shower, and sliding doors to covered outside porch. As nice as the "flamingo" bedroom is, we just adored the charming decor of the black and white bedroom with twin beds on main living floor! The main living area is incredibly spacious, from the large well-lit dining area with 8 chairs, to the great kitchen (with an eat-in area for 4 and a bar stool area as well, tons of dishes and glassware, pots and cooking utensils), to the cushy main seating area, delightful armchairs, and great game table. We really had no "need" for the extra space of the Sky Room (it would be a perfect play area for young children), but we spent time playing games and reading there just because it was so nice! We've rented many homes across the Eastern Seaboard, and the owners of Cape Escape are the most gracious we have ever encountered!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I had another wonderful week at Cape Escape. The house had everything we needed and more. We also love the way the house is decorated! It makes for such a relaxing vacation when all of our surrounds are neat, organized and clean. This year we enjoyed more of Cape Charles. We spent a few days on the public beach. When we had enough beach, we crabbed and fished from the public dock. It was such fun for the kids. The night before we left, I made sure to get those awesome sunset pictures. Thanks for a great vacation!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

About the owner: My sister, Barbara, and I own this house together. We are both real estate agents with very few weekends off but when they come along, this is one of our favorite ways to spend them. Our families were even more excited when we bought the house since they have more free time to play than we do. We furnished and decorated the house ourselves (which is a hobby for both of us) and had a great time doing it and love finding ways to make it better each time we have a guest. Everyone says we have the nicest house in Cape Charles! We love to think so, and hope you will too.
Why the Owner Chose Cape Charles:
We went exploring on a rainy Easter weekend looking for a great place to escape to on occasion as well as a good investment. We discovered the charming historic town of Cape Charles and were so impressed with the development of the Bay Creek Resort and all it's amenities that we had to jump in with both feet. It took us about 20 minutes to make that decision!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You can spend the day golfing or boating or antiquing or just chill out on the beach or read a good book on the deck. We've tried out the great restaurants but love "Aqua" which is in the Marina. Kelly's Pub on the "main drag" of Cape Charles is a great casual hang out too, and the food is good! The town of Cape Charles is small and quite charming and takes you away from the "workaday world" and all its stresses.
