Villa Agung Khalia is a new 6-bedroom villa with private pool set amongst terraced rice fields on the outskirts of Ubud.
The villa consists of two identical 3-bedroom villa buildings facing each other and separated by a large private pool. If 6 bedrooms is too large for you, it can be rented as a 3-bedroom villa with either a private pool or shared pool (you decide).
The villa design blends traditional Balinese styling with the desire for tropical outdoor living. There is a purposeful design for a cool fresh air flow throughout the villa by using vents at strategic points, all of which are screened to prevent mosquitoes from entering. Though we are very confident this vented design will keep you cool and comfortable, you can easily upgrade to a/c in the bedrooms at additional cost (we suggest you try the vent design first and see if you are comfortable).
Villa Agung Khalia uses only local labor, with a commitment to helping support the local community banjar, and a profit-sharing program that benefits the villa staff first and foremost.
This brand-new, spacious villa offers the peace and tranquility of the 'real' Bali yet is less than 10 minutes drive from Ubud's cultural performances, shops, museums and gourmet restaurants.
For a relaxing stay 'away from it all' enjoy a morning cup of coffee on your balcony as the sun lights up Gunung Agung, read a novel in your poolside gazebo, or explore the daily life of the Balinese in the nearby villages.
For those wishing to stay connected you have free broadband wireless and satellite TV with international channels like BBC, ESPN, CNN, Discovery, and Cartoon Network.
Each villa building has 3 bedrooms (this 6-bedroom villa has two buildings), all with private bathrooms attached. An additional day-bed is located in the upstairs reading area, and a half-bathroom is located next to the downstairs living room. Each villa building has its own kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, stove top burners, mini oven and utensils. There is an outside dining area for 4 guests and a traditional inside dining area for 6 to 8 guests.
This means that the 6-bedroom villa can easily sleep up to 8-14 guests in comfort and with privacy. If renting the 3-bedroom villa (you still get your own private villa building) it can accommodate up to 7 guests in comfort.
Pool towels and chaise lounge chairs are available poolside. There are overhead fans in every bedroom, living area and balcony.
There are carved, open vents above each window that allow for a natural flow of air throughout the villa, yet the window and door screens keep out the unwanted insects that are common in other outdoor living villas.

Darren Leaver is Asst. Professor of Geography at Glendale College in California. Prof. Leaver travels the world as often as possible with his wife Laura (also a Geography instructor) and their young daughters Khalia and Maia. During a trip to Bali in the late 1990' s, Darren and his wife Laura met Agung, a community leader from a small village on the outskirts of Ubud. A long-lasting friendship developed from this initial encounter, and led to the development of Villa Agung Khalia, which provides long-range commercial opportunities for Agung’s family and the adjacent village of Banjar Sala.
