Yosemite East Home is located just 12 miles from the Yosemite National Park entrance of Tioga Pass, Hwy 120 East. Come hike in Tuolumne Meadows and Yosemite high country only 20 minutes away, and then come home in the evening to a clean home with good beds and a hot shower. BBQ and enjoy the sunset from the home or dine indoors or out at the famous and delicious Whoa Nellie Deli at the Tioga Gas Mart just a 10 minute walk or short drive from the home. You have to experience this to believe how wonderful it is!
With the open view of Mono Lake from the porch and windows, the home's location is ideal for relaxing after a day of events in the eastern Sierra or Yosemite - bird watching, attending natural history seminars, mountain or road biking, motorcycle touring, kayaking and canoeing, or a variety of activities available in Yosemite or the eastern Sierra and Mono Lake area. The landscape is stunning in natural beauty with many geological features, wildlife, wildflowers in the nearby mountains.
It is just a 30 minute drive to Mammoth Lakes for more site-seeing, hiking, dining, shopping, or entertainment opportunities with the Mammoth Jazz Festival in July, the gondola to the top of Mammoth Mountain, or the beautiful Devil's Postpile National Monument. Drive further south to see the ancient Bristlecone Pines located in the White Mountains, or drive north as you continue your trip up to Tahoe.
The nearest small airport is in Mammoth Lakes with daily shuttle to Los Angeles airport, or nearest large airport is in Reno, Nevada, a 3 hour drive along scenic Hwy 395. Staying at the Tioga Pass Home offers the best of both the eastern and the western Sierra as it is centrally located at the foot of Tioga Pass. Available for rental mid April (fishing season) - mid October (the closing of Tioga Pass for winter). Please, no pets, no smoking in the home.
The home is well equipped for couples, families, or small groups. Full kitchen, linens provided, washer and dryer. There is a big level driveway and spacious 2 car garage available at the home for locking up bikes or motorcycles or gear that you need to leave behind as you adventure in the area. If you enjoy music, ask at the Tioga Gas and Gift Mart about the music schedule on the beautiful lawn setting at the restaurant, with June/July/August Thursday evening music (over by 9:30 p.m.) and the mellow Sunday afternoon music.
