We had the pleasure of staying for 5 nights over Ironman Canada 2011 race weekend. The sheer beauty of not only the accomodation but the area was enough to calm our pre race nerves. The suite was fantastic and every detail was thought of, even the binoculars! It was very quiet, no cars, no people, no sirens. Just coyotes, birds, and assorted creature noises. We couldn't have picked a better place to relax before the race and recover afterwards. Oh and the stars, breath-taking. Thanks to Linda and Bruce for creating such a beautiful setting! We would highly recommend High Chaparral and can't wait to come back to some serious hiking and biking! Elsa and Shaun

What a wonderful surprise, after a long drive from Vancouver, to find this sweet little adobe get-away facing out over a perfect, endless view of the okanagon desert. Not a soul in sight and only the sound of hawks and the breeze, a bottle of complimentary wine awaiting us. My mother and I spent a perfect four nights and days exploring wineries, riding our bikes, swimming and just relaxing at High Chapparel taking in the view and the silence. The rooms and shared kitchen are lovingly designed with every detail attended to. Bring groceries along, as you won't want to leave once you get there! We give this place a five out of five and plan to be repeat visitors. Book ahead as I predict this place will soon be discovered!

Everything about the High Chaparral guest house is excellent. Every imaginable detail is thought of and the house and amenities are impeccable. The house is completely private and the view is ever changing with the time of day and weather. On top of that the hosts, Linda and Bruce are welcoming and informative. My husband missed out on this trip, so we will be visiting again so he can also enjoy this experience also. Thank you Linda and Bruce for everything (including the camera charger return!) Best wishes and we look forward to visiting again.

The photos and descriptions on the website do not capture the quality of the construction or the beauty of the area. Our stay at the guest house was enjoyable beyond our expectations. Linda and Bruce have created a environment that makes it feel like you are visiting friends. We would enthusiastically recommend this as a vacation destination.

This guest house is set in magnificent country near Oliver, BC. The environment alone is soothing but staying in the beautifully appointed guest house really makes this a wonderful place to get away and relax. The rooms are stylishly decorated and comfortable; the property is clean and very well-maintained. The owners are helpful and gracious. The guest house is situated in part of the best wine country in British Columbia. You can drive leisurely around Oliver visiting boutique wineries and wonderful organic food stores or plan for more time and go further afield to Summerland, Penticton, and Kelowna. A great place to unwind! Definitely recommended.
Owner response:Thank you for your review. We hope to see you again. The Fall Wine Festival starts October 1st and runs for 10 days - the reds are released and there are many events going on. A great time to come to the Okanagan.

We have now returned home from a month in Canada staying at a dozen B and B's. We travelled with another couple and therefore booked both suites. The location of this property is fantastic with views unrivelled during our visit. As soon as we met our hosts we knew this was going to be a positive stay, They could not have been more helpfull and welcoming and yet respected our privacy striking the exact balance between welcoming and alowing us to relax - which we certainly did here. The accomodation was very clean, well furnished and comfortable. The beds were huge (and high) and so comfortable. We relaxed more here than at any of our other stays the peace and quiet was unbelievable. The owners provided a BBQ (the only ones to do this from all our B and B's). I would recomend guests take thier own food as recommended from the owners as this is a very isolated location (thats a plus point by the way) we were visited by deer on both occasions that we dined outside. I would definatelly stay here again but for a longer time and have no hesitation in recommending this accomodation to others.

What can we say that hasn't been said already? What a wonderful retreat after a long day of touring wineries in the hot sun. The scenery was spectacular and the accommodations were even better. And we had a fabulous time getting to know our neighbours, Paul and Stella, over a few bottles of wine. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you for everything Linda, Bruce and Dunbar!

Linda and Bruce have really created something special at High Chaparral. Peaceful and quiet with a sunset view, and not too far from the heart of the Okanagan wine trail. Two thumbs up!
Owner response:Thank you Paul and Stella - we enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to your next stay.

We were looking for somewhere to stay around Oliver, somewhere nice, restful, to really relax. I spotted High Chaparral, looked at the photos and wondered if I was missing something. Would it really be that nice? Was there a subdivision just around the corner out of view of the photos? As we drove up, we couldn't believe how quiet the area was, how close to Oliver, but so isolated... and then we saw the beautiful adobe building. And we parked and walked in, and it was oh, so much nicer than we'd even hoped. Each unit had a completely private deck as well as the front deck area with the barbecue. There's a table and umbrella and chairs, so you can eat, drink wine, relax in the sun, or in the shade without seeing a soul. Hummingbirds, coyotes howling at night, a billion stars in the sky after the sun is gone... great bed, great kitchen with great accessories for people who like to cook... silence. You see nothing except desert, a road in the far distance that I never did see a car drive on, deer, sunsets over the hills (so it cools beautifully at night). The photographs don't do it justice. And then there's the ecological aspect. The building has a heat pump for cooling and heating, as well as the little electric fireplace. The shower is aesthetically beautiful, and (even for a gal who loves baths) is also really nice with a huge shower head, so you get a great shower, but it's a real water saver. You're reminded that you're in a desert, and reminded to be aware of that and treat the earth you're on kindly. Yep, if you haven't guessed yet, I'm in love with it. I keep talking about it to friends and acquaintances. But the downside might be, what if it's full the next time I want to go? I think I'd better shut up now!
Owner response:Thank you Nola - we enjoyed having you and Joffre stay and we are so grateful for your stunning review. We certainly look forward to your next visit. Bruce and Linda

We stayed at High Chaparral Guest house the weekend of September 10th, 2010 with my husband's parents. The accommodations were amazing and even better than the photos show here! We were equally impressed with the accommodations and location- my husband described it as 'isolated luxury'. The kitchen well equipped (bonus outdoor barbeque!) and the bathrooms were gorgeous. My only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. We’re hoping to bring my parents next year! Thanks again Bruce and Linda! Kel and Derek

Simply amazing! What a great spot for us to spend our First Anniversary. After a very long day of tasting wines, this is a great place to unwind over dinner and a bottle of our latest find. We will come again and recommend to others. Cheers.

Fantastico! As the first foursome to stay here, we must say it's ideal ... and Luna the dog loved it also. The hosts were perfect and the thoughtful touches are what will cap the memorability. Thank you so much Bruce, Linda and Dunbar.
