The Kayak House is Tybee's ONLY vacation rental AND licensed WEDDING and Event Venue. Also known as The Outdoor Inn, see The Outdoor Inn Dot Com for more pictures and policy information. You can rent the home just as a Vacation Rental, as an event venue, or both. We can accomodate up to 12 for over night stays (three nights minimum, up to 49 indoors for events, or up to 72 using both the inside and outside space. We also have off street FREE parking to accomodate your guests.

- Queen Bed (3) : The master bedroom suite on the top floor has 1 queen bed, 1 twin bed as well as a futon sleeper. There is also the "nook" which is one twin bed in a seperate room. The top floor also has a balcony overlooking the marsh and master bathroom.

- Deck/Patio : Wow do we have decks! We have a front porch with rocking chairs but the back screened porch over looks the salt marsh. No extra charge for bird watching or the daily Sunsets The grounds area also right on the salt marsh and an ideal area for weddings, family reunions or any other gathering.
- Balcony : The top floor master suite has a balcony with the same views as the ground level. Private and intimate- the perfect place to read all afternoon or have a glass of champagne as you're watching sunset.
- Lanai : The ground level also has a Lanai area which can be used as the dance area ( we have full electrical hook up) or the wedding area or another area for the food and beverage.

Why the Owner Chose Tybee Island
Because on this island there is such an abundance of wild life living so closely to the human population, and because the view of the sky is so unobstructed in all directions. No high rises. No private beaches. Few limits to access. Natural beauty surrounds us, with marsh and tidal rivers on three sides and the ocean to the east.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I love the house for its unusual location, providing an unlikely combination of access to great natural beauty and logistical convenience. From the sanctity of the back porch, one would never know there was a busy street out front. Back porch to front are different worlds. The beauty of the marsh in the morning light is exquisite. Sunsets are even better. We see Herons and Egrets feeding almost every day, year round. A pair of Great Horned Owls nested in the pines next door last spring and Buffle head ducks come though every fall. We see lots of Ibis and Woodstork in summer.
It's always quiet inside the house, but mornings and evenings are quieter than most neighborhoods. Still, you're only a short walk from two restraunts and the local's pub Huk-A-Pu's. Want a pint? You can have one without a designated driver. In fact, there's not much need to move your car once you're here. Tybee is a great place for riding your bike. Rental shops will deliver, no charge, and pick the bike up when you leave. You can get anywhere safely on a bike here. Go to the beach, go to dinner. Go anywhere. Who needs a car?

Debbie found Tybee in the early 80's and Dale found Debbie a few years after that. Sea kayaking has been our passion for a very long time, and was our business for a number of years. We bought the house originally to accommodate kayakers visiting our kayak business next door. We sold Sea Kayak Georgia in 2006, but we're still the most kayak friendly accommodation around. We're also a great venue for families, weddings and reunions.
