Site #1137- corner lot. Very nice ground level house 200 yards from one mile of private beach. No Smoking and No Pets Please. Golf Cart is included in this rental. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, bedroom #2 has a full-size bed, bedroom #3 has adult size bunk beds. There is also a queen pull-out sofa in the living room. TV's in living room and master. All you need to bring is linens and paper products. Full kitchen and gas BBQ grill. Ocean Lakes is a gated campground with a 24 hour security patrol. We rent to families only. Age requirement 21 to drive golf cart.
All the amenities of Ocean Lakes Campground are included in rent. Olympic size outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, kiddie water-park, 8 fresh water lakes, 3 snack shops, golf cart and bike rental, ATM machine, Oceanfront observation deck, 24 hour gated security, 2 oceanfront playgrounds, Sandy Harbor Family Fun Center, 18 hole Mini-golf, Nature Center Discovery Lab, 10,000 square foot campground store and gift shop, book exchange library, and more.
This home is just ten minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from Broadway at the Beach, 30 minutes from Barefoot Landing, and soon to open NEW Bass Pro Shop, only a short drive to over 100 golf courses. Nearby are restaurants, amusement parks, and Tanger Outlet Malls.
Ocean Lakes requires a $5.00 per day, per car, parking pass.

The first words in the listing say "very nice", don't be fooled. The pictures show a decent property that one would think would be well-maintained, don't be fooled by that either. The pictures do not show the lack of upkeep on this home. For example: - the back door to the property is an interior door that it is in very poor condition - the master bedroom door frame has duck tape over the striker plate so you don't get trapped in the room because the doorknob does not turn - the rails on the front porch are so loose that rusty nails are popping out on the porch and driveway - there are no smoke detectors anywhere inside. This property is an old-trailer (with 6.5 foot ceilings) with an addition. The listing calls it a "house" that you only need to bring "linens and paper products". That was not the case at all! We came prepared to cook most meals, but there was not adequate kitchen supplies to do so. When we contacted the homeowner about our disappointment she immediately went on the defense and wouldn't even hear out our concerns. She did refund our deposit and cleaning fee, but didn't even discuss with us the possibility of refunding even part of our weeks' rent. We paid for this whole week, but moved out of this house after one night! This was by-far the worst vacation experience our family has ever had. On another note, if you are not familiar with Ocean Lakes Campground and the homeowners there, please do not let this experience deter you from staying in the campground itself. While we have found out that this is not an isolated experience, there are FAR MORE great experiences in Ocean Lakes than bad ones. We have stayed in Ocean Lakes for several years and we have always had great experiences from great homeowners before this one.

Owner response: This house has been our family beach cottage since 1989, and our family cherishes the memories we have made here. This home does have low ceiling in part of it, due to the fact that at the time it was built, Ocean Lakes required all homes be built from a trailer and retain the trailer's walls and roof. We were allowed to add extra rooms on to the trailer during construction, so the master bedroom and guest bedroom have 8' ceilings. The living room even has a 10' vaulted ceiling. Ocean Lakes changed the trailer rule after the Hurricane Hugo disaster. We are very proud of our house, and it is important to us that our guests are happy as well. In the past year, we have updated the house with French doors on the front, laminate hardwood floors in the living room and hallway, new refrigerator, and air conditioning system. One of the main reasons we listed our house on this website, was that we would be be able to show pictures of all the nice qualities our house has. Again, it is very important to us that you and your family have as much fun staying in our house as our family does!
