Welcome to the Blue Ridge Mountains!

Our cabin is located less than 1 mile to the entrance of Stone Mountain State Park where you will find magnificent WATERFALLS, historic landmarks, hiking trails, mountain climbing and much, much more!
Imagine this...you're sitting in the HOT TUB outside our beautiful log cabin, enjoying the cool, fresh mountain air. NOW...look out below and you will see a 70 mile panoramic view featuring every shade of the color green spread out over a wide forested valley and time softened mountains. White clouds hang like dollops of meringue in the Carolina blue sky.
Now...look east and you will see Pilot Mountain ("Mt. Pilot" as it was referred to on the famous Andy Griffith TV show). And on a clear day, you can see the tall buildings in downtown Winston Salem, NC, over 50 miles away!
And at night...WOW...the twinkling night lights in the valley are breathtaking and soooo romantic!
Natural beauty of the magnitude is so inspiring and a true feast for the senses...it nourishes the soul.

The cabin was private but easy to get to, only one mile from Stone Mountain State Park, which I also HIGHLY recommend. The cabin is located either on top of a mountain or on a ridge because the view is amazing! You're so high up you see clouds below! Being able to bring our dogs was a bonus, too. The exterior of the cabin looks like the original hewn logs, but the interior has been refinished in a beautiful knotty pine. Upon entering, the place smells of pine! Everything you could need is provided in this cabin. The owners are friendly and the manager is close by if needed. We also went to "Mayberry", but next time will stay here longer! We enjoyed our stay at cabin one, chosen for location, price, pet friendly, and things to do on our way to and from Florida from Pennsylvania. This cabin really is an affordable way to experience the best things about vacation: privacy, eating, relaxing, spending time outdoors, hot tub, shopping etc. without the expensive price tag to feel guilty about later. That being said, you do get what you pay for, so people who left negative reviews shouldn't expect the amenities of a cabin twice the cost. The gas fireplace actually warms the entire cabin when you have a long enough time to let it heat up. We also arrived late and were worried since it was cold the night we arrived, but by the time we were unpacked the cabin was cosy, and then got too hot so we cracked open the screen door. The kitchen is small, but it's a small cabin people! The clean factor wasn't spotless, but was more tidy and allergy free than any other pet friendly hotel room or vacation home we've stayed in anywhere near this price range. We enjoyed the fact that there were clean linens and towels and dishes provided, and had fun one night sleeping on the futon for something different. We loved the cozy night lights by the bed and the fact that we could keep the blinds open in the bedroom and enjoy the view from bed since the area is so private. The view from the cabin is incredible, as were the sun rises, seeing the lights from the hot-tub, and hiking at Stone Mountain. The parkway and Blowing Rock are also nearby, and we adored Branciforte's Brick Oven in North Wilkesboro. Just don't bring too much luggage like we had to or you will feel cramped (we had a business meeting for three days in between our stays) Thanks for the great stay!
Owner response:Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your honesty. It's beautiful up there year round. Come back to see us again!

My wife and I rented this cabin for two nights, but left after only one night. When we arrived, the cabin was freezing and, after reading through all instructions left in the cabin, it appeared the gas fireplace was the only source of heat. We lit the fireplace, but found it didn’t adequately heat the bedroom so we chose to sleep on the futon in the living room instead. The futon was extremely uncomfortable with a thin, hard mattress and the metal frame was quite noticeable down the center of the mattress. As a result, we slept very poorly. Early in the morning, the carbon monoxide alarm went off, presumably from using the gas fireplace. To avoid killing ourselves, we turned off the fireplace and opened the front door to ventilate the cabin with the 30 degree outside air. The cabin also had a hot tub, which would have been a great way to warm up, except the water temperature never got above 57 degrees. After all of this, we decided a second night was just not possible, so I called the owner and described everything that had happened. When I asked if there was a heat source we had missed in the cabin, he told me there was a space heater in a shed located 100 ft away from the cabin. When I mentioned that it would have been nice to know about the space heater the night before, he started talking over me and accusing me of lying and said no one else had ever complained about being cold. When I told him about the hot tub not warming up, he had nothing to say. I then told him that we were not going to spend a second night and wanted a refund for the second night. He told me I could not have a refund and that we were just ‘scheming’ so that we could get out of paying for our second night. I then told him that we would be leaving a review about our experiences at his cabin. He responded by indicating that if we did, he would sue us. He also made sure to tell us that we would never be invited back to his cabin, but I assured him this would not be a problem. He then proceeded to hang up on me while I was in mid sentence- apparently he was done with the conversation. Not once did the owner express concern for our safety (carbon monoxide poisoning is life threatening after all), apologize for the fact that we had not slept well or that the hot tub didn’t work, or even offer to provide us a credit for the second night to be used at a future date. It was one of the worst lodging and customer service experiences we’ve ever had!
Owner response:As Paul Harvey would say... "Now, for the rest of the story". Lara Dresser booked the cabin at the last minute and she and her husband arrived at the cabin late Friday night after normal check in time. The fireplace was turned down but will heat the entire cabin within 1-2 hours. Because they didn't have instant heat, they started looking for excuses to get a refund. All these complaints could have been addressed and resloved if they had simply called us when they got there. We would have informed them about the supplemental heat options and how to turn the heat up on the hot tub. Her husband was extremely rude and threatened "to go on the internet and leave bad reviews" if they didn't get a refund. We try very hard to offer the best vacation rental experience to all our guest. If we make a mistake, we always address it and make it right when given the opportunity. We have been renting log cabins for 14 years and the feedback in our guest book and on the internet has been over 95% positive. We normally would not reply to a frivolous complaint like this but since this one is so outrageous, we felt compelled to offer "the rest of the story".

Very homey with little touches like the bell outside, the coffee and shampoo in the med closet, gas fireplace was handy in January and warmed right up. The view was phenomenal and the street good for walking our dogs. They loved being on the porch with us, too.
Owner response:Thanks for your kind comments. Because these are our personal vacation homes, we want to make sure they are cozy, comfortable and has that "at home " feel to all our guest. Glad your dogs enjoyed the stay too. We are very pet friendly and have always been impressed at how pet owners leave the cabin spotless when they leave. Come back to see us soon!

We wanted to be near Stone mountain State Park to do a little trout fishing and hiking. We caught our limit each day (10 fish) and some were as long as 20"! The surprise was the beautiful waterfalls in the park. We had no idea they were there. The log cabin was very clean and cozy. The views are amazing...you can see Pilot mountain which is over 40 miles away. It is very peaceful and quiet up there too. There is a constant breeze which is ideal for a nap in the hammock. The hot tub on the patio was a pleasant surprise. This is our 2nd visit to your lovely cabins and we WILL be back!
Owner response:Thank you! We love repeat guest. Come back to see us anytime!

We rented this cabin because we wanted a little quiet relief from the summer heat. There was a nice constant cool breeze. The problem was that there were no screens on the windows so you could not open them. The cabin was stuffy with the windows closed. The only alternative was a very noisy window air conditioner. We had been looking forward to sleeping with the windows open and hearing the sounds of nature. We had rented the cabin for 4 nights. After 2 nights of the loud air conditioner, I called the owner and told him we were leaving early. If you idea of a mountain experience is open windows with nature sounds this is not the cabin for you.
Owner response:Well I guess this review proves you can't please everyone, although we try really hard to do so. We have never had this complaint before. The screen door usually allows in a good flow of fresh air. Ironically, we ARE in the process of installing screens on the windows. Based on my conversation with this guest, I beleive there were some other personal issues going on in his life.

We love coming to this cabin in Trap Hill. Located just outside of Stone Mountain State Park, you can quickly get into the park to hike and then come back to the cabin to relax, sit on the porch and look out to Pilot Mountain. We have stayed here several times and brought our little dachshund with us, which makes the stay all that more pleasant. One time we were here for the July 4th weekend and could see many different firework displays. It was really fun!
Owner response:Thank you for your kind words. We do believe that Stone Mountain Rental provides the most relaxing vacation at an affordable price. The views are spectacular and Stone Mountain State Park (only a mile away) is by far the BEST state park in NC! Come back to see us again!

We came back for a longer stay at this nice cabin. The area is beautiful and so close to so many things. We went horseback riding at Burnt Hill Stables in Laurel Springs (in the Blue Ridge Mountains), drove the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiked Stone Mountain State Park, and visited "Mayberry" again. The view is amazing and the cabin is so private the world seems very far away up here. The Country Kitchen in Sparta was excellent and reasonably priced. We also went to Grandfather Mountain and the Ashe County Cheese Factory. Our two dogs were allowed to stay at this cabin with us, and that makes the vacation so much more enjoyable. I only wish the people who had written in the cabin's Guest Book had written their comments here! The Guest Book was fun reading! The only downside to the cabin is the very small kitchen, but we didn't plan on doing much cooking anyway. We mostly used the grill to cook in the evenings. Thank you again for allowing us to stay in this lovely cabin. Charlie and Linda
