This is one of the most magnificent pieces of property on the south shore of the island. If you want to get away from it all, this is it. Our home sits on 3 magnificent, landscaped acres, with stone walls, a long shell driveway, and a circular brick parking area. It abuts hundreds of acres of conservation land. The unobstructed view from the upstairs great room is of the Madequecham Valley and Ocean.
New for the 2011 rental season, we added our own private pool and tennis court. Our dream come true!
The pool is an extra long custom top of the line heated gunite pool with bluestone surround, ideal for swimming laps, as well as family recreational swim. We have sited the pool in an area of our property separate and fenced off from the main lawn, with families with small children in mind. The pool also has an automatic safety cover so that in the closed position it is completely child proof. Completing the picture is a nearby shaded brick patio with a pool house that has a bathroom, changing area, outdoor shower, and snack bar. Your own private pool club!
The tennis court is a state of the art, "NOVA'PRO AUSSIE CLAY COURT". It plays like clay, without the maintenance. All you need to do is brush the lines, and you are ready to go. No rolling involved. There is almost no down time with rain, and it is easy on the body.
The house was completely redone in 2008. Every surface is new and pristine.
Downstairs are 4 bedrooms, nicely furnished in summer cottage style. There are also 2 new full baths with brand new fixtures, slate floors, a clean white subway tiled shower in one, and a bathtub/shower in the other. There is also a nice laundry/mudroom with it's own separate entrance from the side of the house. Outside is a new and spacious outdoor shower.
Upstairs is a great room with soaring ceilings, a brand new Woodmode kitchen with granite counters, a peninsula and eating island. The decor upstairs is summer cottage style, with beautiful antique English Pine casement goods, cozy slip covered coaches, craftsman style woodwork, and top of the line oil-rubbed bronze lighting fixtures and ceiling fan.
The inside of the house is freshly painted in a soft French vanilla with white accents. Crisp white sheer curtains sway in the ocean breeze. Throughout the house are newly refinished pine floors. A French door leads to a south facing deck with stunning views, plus a large outdoor wicker dining set. On the lower deck is an outdoor wicker grouping consisting of a love seat, chair and ottoman, and coffee table, with ivory cushions.
The ocean breezes keep you very comfortable, but should you want it, the entire house has central air-conditioning.

Why the Owner Chose Madaquecham
We love Madequecham. It is the perfect get away. We think we have one of the nicest beaches on the island in our backyard. A few years ago, an article appeared in the Wallstreet Journal naming the author's 10 favorite beaches in the world, and Madequecham made the list! We agree. The property our home sits on is a one of a kind. We feel very lucky.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Staying in this home is so relaxing. It is comfortable, warm, cozy, and very pretty, with all the modern amenities, but maintaining that unique Nantucket feeling. A true find! Please don't be concerned about the proximity of our area to the airport-we do not have a problem with air plane noise. We also do not have a problem with mosquitoes! We love to run on the magnificent paths through the conservation land surrounding our home. I especially love running through the path which bisects the Mellon Estate. Another favorite activity of ours is taking our bikes on the Milestone Rd bike path, circling around to the Polpis bike path, and stopping in Sconset for an ice cream or lunch, before heading back. You can afford to eat an icecream when you just biked 17 miles! (or you can take the short way to Sconset, which is only 3 miles) Our beach is amazing. It is almost never crowded. Even in the height of the summer, you can always find a spot to sit away from everyone else if that's what you prefer. We love sitting on the beach until sunset, followed by stargazing on one of the clearest skies we have ever seen. I still can't believe it when I come home at night and see the milky way, and if I catch it right, shooting stars!
Our family is so excited to have our own pool and tennis court starting in 2011. It is a dream come true for us. I love to swim laps, and my husband is an avid tennis player. My girls can't wait for their summer vacation next year. We hope you will chose to spend your summer vacation in our little piece of paradise next year as well.
The charming town of Sconset is a 3 mile bike ride away down the Milestone bike path.
Wigwam Road is off of Russell's Way which is 3 miles from the Milestone Rotary.
Our beach is 0.5 miles from our house by foot, bicycle or car on quiet dirt roads. It is surrounded by hundreds of acres of conservation land. Spectacular!
Our block is surrounded by hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land.
Owner's Map of Madaquecham
Our names are Debbie and Ed. When we were first dating, many years ago, we vacationed on Cape Cod. Who would have dreamed that one day we would have our own summer home on the beautiful island of Nantucket, 30 miles off shore from Cape Cod. We purchased our first home on Nantucket in 1999. 10 wonderful summers were spent in that house. More recently, we purchased and completely renovated this property. We work hard most of the year, and look forward to our time on Nantucket where we can spend quality time with each other and our three daughters.

We were in awe of this property from the moment we arrived via its circular drive. The landscaping, stone walls, and beautifully decorated home all exceeded our expectations. And the new pool and tennis court? Well, those amenities just made this perfect setting even better for a memorable Nantucket vacation. The property is in close proximity to the bike path and a dramatic sandy beach, and also has a nice ocean view from the upper deck. Discerning travelers seeking tranquility, a beautifully maintained home and a well stocked chef's kitchen are certain to be pleased.

Beautiful, very private house with an amazing peaceful view. My two favorite features were the new tennis court and the biggest heated swimming pool in the area. The inside of the house has a modern rustic design with a huge open comfortable kitchen-dining room area. The owners (especially Debbie) were extremely helpful with some questions and very nice with us. We will definitely come back to this house.

This property is an amazing haven! It is very private and quiet. It is incredibly clean and well maintained. The new pool area is so peaceful. Great for a family swim for all ages, and also perfect as a lap pool. The cabana has everything you need for a pool day - outdoor shower, changing room, bathroom, refrigerator, bar area, barbeque, comfortable seating and lounging furniture (this furniture does not get hot in the sun - a great feature!). And all brand new. The new tennis court is such a great surface - especially for the 50+ crowd whose joints are starting to feel their years. The main house has a great porch with very comfy furniture, surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers. There is plenty of lawn space for a game of frisbee or croquet. The main house outdoor shower is the best outdoor shower ever. We never showered indoors. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook in or just to have drinks and appetizers before heading out to a great dinner. It is all very well kept - nothing sticky here! It is a short ride (or walk if you are so inclined) to a beautiful beach - it was never crowded there, there are lots of great waves and we even fished off the beach. Contrary to what we were told about being close to the airport - it was a total non-issue. It's nicer than any of the other beaches we went to on the Island - and much less crowded. The bike trails around the Island are easy to get to without the use of a car - it's a great bike ride to Sconset and around the other side of the Island. Driving in to town is easy and fast. We hope you have as great a week as we did!

We had never vacationed in Nantucket before, and had a wonderful time! The location is fabulous, the home is beautifully decorated, and on an incredible property! The tennis court and pool are magnificent! I felt like I was at a fancy resort! We swam in the ocean at the private beach, and even rode bikes into town. The weather was fabulous and so was everything else. I would definately go back!

Our Nantucket vacation was wonderful. It was a warm and welcoming home with everything we needed. The second floor living space is beautiful and we loved BBQing and eating on the deck. It was so quiet and peaceful too. You get that cool ocean breeze and I loved the outside shower! I would recommend this home 100%.

We spent two weeks in this magical getaway and can't wait to go back. The house is pristine and lives up to everything we could have hoped for. Great private location with meticulous landscaping. House has everything you could need for a wonderful family retreat. Owner was very helpful before and during our vacation whenever we had a question. Great access to bike trails and the ocean is only a short walk away. Great privacy but yet unbelievable views of the ocean. I recommend this house to anyone that wants to get away and enjoy the private beauty of ACK but have access to everything a short distance away.

My Family and I had a lovely week at this beautiful home. It is light and open, a great place inside and out for family meals and afternoon naps. We enjoyed the perfectly manicured lawn, playing croquet until the sun went down. The outdoor shower was great. The beach was exquisite. It was so very quiet, even the crickets hesitated. Ahhh, we long to go back next Summer and the one after that.

The house was very spacious and comfortable during the day and at night. Amazing outdoor shower - you will never want to shower indoors again! 3 minute drive to the beach over some cool roads. Beach was great - not overly crowded. Nice backyard - great for Croquette (They provide a set). This was our second year at the house and can't wait to go back again next year.
