This is a truly unique mountain retreat, centrally located in the Sierra Nevada California gold country. Fantastic access to outdoor activities including Calaveras Big Trees State park, Stanislaus National Forest, Stanislaus River, Bear Valley Ski Resort, Lake Alpine and three Golf Courses, all within a 20 minute drive or less.
This home is part of Blue Lake Springs Homeowner Association which offers the following summer recreation facilities: two lakes (Blue Lake Springs and Flying Acres-great swimming and fun), swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, beach volleyball, playground and an array of family oriented activities includig outdoor nightime movies, arts/crafts, sport clinics, Friday night family bingo, campfire, "Story Time Under the Trees" restaurant & snack bar, etc...
The recreation center is open from mid June through Labor Day weekend in September. Winter activities include numerous cross country trails, sledding, hiking, downhill skiing and snowboarding at nearby Bear Valley resort.
If you seek privacy and communion with nature, this geodesic dome stands amongst tall pine, redwood and sequoia trees adjacent to open land. Perfect for family gatherings, reunions and/or a group retreat. There is plenty of privacy within bedrooms that open up to a large great room for coming together. A separate dormitory next door provides more privacy, space and additional sleeping accomodations for up to 12 people.
Forest views can be seen from every window including the unique triangular dome windows that lead your eyes upward to a rooftop sky window for star gazing at night. This home expands one's sense of peace with nature. It's large open round design offers an easy flow within shared living space.

This place is excellent for a group! With 4 bedrooms and a dormitory, 4 full bathrooms, hot tub, sauna and ping pong table - it's hard to beat! The kitchen and living area are spacious enough to accommodate a big group eating or hanging out. We've stayed there since 2007 for our annual ski trip and truly enjoyed ourselves. The acoustics of the dome are endlessly fascinating. Stand at the top of the stairs and you can hear people in the kitchen below as if they were standing right beside you. No secrets at the Dome! Not far from the house is a great hiking trail. Up the road is Bear Valley for skiing and boarding. At times the maintenance/cleaning has been inconsistent. If there is an issue, we just contact the property manager and get it resolved. Our group really looks forward to our annual stay at the Dome! We love it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
