Come stay in a beautiful, fully restored, ocean view 1926 craftsman house on 11 beautiful acres. The house, on idyllic, peaceful Denman Island, has huge fields surrounding it with a private rocky beach at the base of the front field and a lush rain forest running up to its back fields. This is the perfect place to come relax with another family or friends and spend nothing but time together.
The house is large and spacious, simple yet elegantly decorated with 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs. There are 2 spacious master bedrooms upstairs and a middle room with 2 full sized beds that are perfect for kids. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed. There is lots of room both inside and out and even in winter storms the house does not feel crowded.
The property has a front sitting porch that is hard to leave, hammocks hanging, paths for wandering, a few island bikes to take for a spin, and a lush garden to nibble from. Hornby Island is a ferry ride away with white sandy beaches and much to explore. Mt Washington, with lovely hiking in the summer and great skiing and snowboarding in the winter is a thirty minute drive south on Vancouver Island. This is truly paradise.

The house is beautiful and extremely well equipped. We had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this for getting together with family of all ages. I was also surprised at how easily we could buy all kinds of fresh food on the island. It is a great place to visit.Recommended for: Families with young children.

My family first rented this home four years ago over winter break. When we arrived we were at the center of a winter wonderland. The stunning outdoors provided us with hours upon hours of exploration. We walked by the lake, by the ocean, in the snow and then collapsed into the warmth of this wonderful home. We cooked meals in the sunny kitchen, played games in the living room and each found nook after nook to curl into with our books. This home and it's surroundings evoke instant relaxation. We have returned to rent this home twice since and have had the pleasure of experiencing it in so many seasons. We feel so fortunate to have found this treasure. Our only reservation in writing this review is that it may be less available to us.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

I stayed a couple of times at this wonderful place and the first thing that struck me was the sense of silence and peace. In today's world, it is quite a rare thing to experience. It is truly a little paradise and deer, birds, ocean, wonderful country smells, trees, all remind one of what we have lost in our modern world. Go experience it for yourself, you won't regret it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children.

If you are looking for a slice of heaven in which your entire family can come to peace with each other & nature, look no further. When we first rented this property, we literally had no idea where we were going. It became very apparent on the Denman ferry over to the Island, that we were about to experience a hidden secret: this home on this island. You cannot imagine how much space and tranquility exist on this property: from the ocean, to the lake, to the house, to the land. The house was one of the most comfortable and loved homes in which we had ever vacationed! If we could have designed our ideal family vacation home, this was it! We then spent two glorious weeks, swimming, playing soccer in the front field, dining outside until the early hours of the night, lake swimming, hiking, kayaking to Hornsby, sleeping, eating, reading, playing cards and truly relaxing while we enjoyed each other in this secluded world. Denman overall is one of the best kept secrets! The local produce, bookstores and art culture were fantastic! We have traveled all over the world and vacationed in many a land. This home now holds the standard for us! As our kids say, it was really nice, but it was no Denman.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: We are originally from Vancouver but live in California now.
Why the Owner Chose Denman Island:
Denman Island is truly one of the last remaining hidden jewels. The island is remote and undeveloped with acres of open spaces and ocean as far as the eye can see. We found this house and property by accident and fell under it's spell. The rain forest at the back of the house and the ocean at the bottom of the road in front surround you with light and wind and blue. This spot is paradise.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I will list our favorite past-times... drifting in the hammocks, exploring the forest, wandering the rocky beaches, looking for seals and otters, watching the eagles soar above, swimming in Graham Lake, kayaking across to Hornby Island, picnicking on our beaches huge volcanic rocks, gardening, daydreaming, eating feasts in the front field with the deer, the list goes on and on and on.
