Owner's Profile

Why the Owner Chose Prescott

PineCone is our perfect little mountain forest retreat. We purchsed it in the early 1990s and have enjoyed our weekends and vacations up there ever since. It is only 10 minutes into Prescott but seems a million miles from the hustle and bustle. The air is pristine and piney, you hear birds chirping, see squirrels frolicing and at night the skies are filled with stars you could never even imagine in the city.

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

Peace and quiet foremost. Coffee, teas, sugar and some kitchen spices are stocked. Our patio has a barbeque and table/chairs and there is another area under the pines and next to the hammock. There are several National Forest trails within 5 minutes either walking or driving depending on which direction you head out. Goldwater lake with picnicking, boating and hiking is only 3 miles/5 minutes form PineCone.

Pine Cone Cottage Highly Recommended

Guest: Libby (Tucson)
Date of Stay: 05/24/11 Review Submitted: 05/31/11

I would highly recommend this cabin. The owners were accessible helpful and totally above board. the cabin was well represented in the photos and was clean and well maintained. It was very reasonably priced. I described my experience to a friend this way: sitting in a cabin in the middle of a national forest listening to the quiet with only the birds singing and the wind whistling through the trees. Perfect as an artist retreat or vacation getaway. I will recommend to all my friends and relatives.

Owner response:We thank Libby and her son for visiting Pinecone Cottage. Great guests and welcome back anytime!

Excellent Escape!

Guest: AZ John (Apache Junction, AZ)
Date of Stay: 05/08/10 Review Submitted: 06/01/10

Our stay was wonderful, even though it was just one night, Ellen was extremely helpful, and polite. Information on the lodge is right on. Nice clean simple escape, that is well equipped for any needs. The hammock out front was an great touch. Although a small fire pit in the same place would be great for hanging out on the cooler nights. Also nice is the ability to have our dog with us. Thanks again, will be coming up again when we have the time.

Owner response:John and Ginger were great guests and their pet was very .polite! A fire pit would be nice. But being in a forest location and with fire dangers, it's frowned upon by the Forest Service and Groom Creek Fire Dept. Sorry.

Ellen, I just wanted to thank you for your hospitality and add that my mother and I had such a relaxing and lovely stay at PineCone Cottage. The cottage was all that is advertised and more. The only drawback was that our stay was too brief and we plan on making our stay much longer next time. Thanks again! Lisa Baba

We spent a long weekend at the PineCone Cottage and loved it. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It is a great spot to stay if you want to get away from it all and just relax. The cottage has all the comforts of home with a short 10 minute drive to down town Prescott.

Owner response:Thanks Dave and Jill. We loved having you!

Date of Stay: 08/10/09 Review Submitted: 08/10/09

I first stayed at PineCone for a few weeks in the summer of 2006. I've been going back each summer since and each stay has been longer than the last to the extent my pocketbook would allow. Two things I like about PineCone is that it's cool and it's quiet. It's located in the Bradshaw Mountains, 1,000 feet higher than downtown Prescott which makes it 10 degrees cooler that the city. Just sit out on the patio in the early morning or early evening. What do you hear? Nothing. Absolutely nothing except for the birds chirping. If you live in an urban environment as I do, you will certainly appreciate a few days or weeks of quiet. -- Bill Hadley

Owner response:Bill has been a welcome guest every year!
