This light and airy oceanfront cottage is all about tranquility and relaxation. Easy, one floor living with two master bedroom suites and 2 additional bedrooms makes this an ideal house for a small family or two couples to share. Start your day on the rooftop deck with a cup of fresh ground coffee and watch the dolphin as they move up the beach, feeding and playing in the surf. Say hello to the resident Mockingbird who is always waiting nearby to say good morning.
Back in the cottage, cathedral windows give you a stunning view of the great sea oat covered sand dunes as they change from pale pink to glowing gold with the light throughout the day. We have some of the most expansive beach on the island right in front of the house so it is always uncrowded, with plenty of room to spread out beach towels and chairs, build sandcastles and play in the surf.
Walk the beach for miles along the pristine National Seashore or just relax with a good book. Lunch on the sun decks or on the screened porch and then head back to the beach or spend the afternoon exploring the island.
Hatteras Island sights to see include Pea Island Wildlife Refuge for world class birding, the Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station and Cape Hatteras Ligthouse, Canadian Hole and the Point for watersports and surf fishing. Venturing off the Island, take the ferry boat from Hatteras village to Ocracoke Island or drive up to Roanoke Island and follow in the footsteps of the First Settlers. Explore the sand dunes of Jockey's Ridge and visit the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk. Venture out to the gulf stream from one of the conveniently loctaed marinas for world renowned off-shore fishing.
Boat House II is centrally loctaed in Avon with easy access to shopping, restaurants, recreation, and all other amenities the Island has to offer. Prepare your own meals in the fully equiped kitchen or try one of the excellent local restaurants. DEAR GUESTS, PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW PET POLICY. WE APPRCIATE THE REVIEWS BUT, UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO ALLOW PETS AT OUR COTTAGE. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE PET OWNERS TO CONSIDER ALL THE RAMIFICATIONS OF BRINGING DOGS TO THE BEACH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER AND LEAVING THEM ALONE IN STRANGE HOUSES. WE KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO LEAVE YOUR PETS, BUT SOMETIMES IT CAN MAKE YOUR STAY AT THE BEACH EVEN MORE OF A "VACATION". SINCERELY, BOAT HOUSE II

The mid July rental was a real pleasure. The cottage maintenance was excellent, unit was spotless, and the layout worked well for 5 adults, one teenager, and a small dog. The large kitchen is open to the great room and the wrap around deck making this a very enjoyable area to talk, read, play cards and enjoy the views. The large windows on the east side gave wonderful views of the dunes. Time on the beach each day was a real pleasure and the under the house shower was a great way to clean up before entering the cottage. Parking was quite good for our two SUVs.
Recommended for:Age 55+, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.

Perfect for our family of 5, including teenagers, and we really appreciated being able to bring the family dog! The beach and the dunes are so beautiful and there's plenty to do in the immediate area.
