Located 100 feet from the ocean in a secluded beachside community, the home has access to a private beach, perfect for putting in a kayak or canoe, or for the more adventuresome, boogie boarding or surfing an advanced, local surf break. An infinity pool and spa offer quiet relaxation in the beautifully landscaped backyard overlooking the ocean.
Perched at the end of a private, dead end lane, the house looks out to Koko Head Crater, Lanai and Maui, and enjoys peaceful sunrises and cool ocean breezes year round. Originally used as a beach and fishing retreat for Hawaiian royalty, this private cove remains today one of the best kept secrets on the island.
Custom built in 2002 and featured in the London Financial Times travel section in 2005, the home was carefully designed to take advantage of the exceptional views from every room. Its architecture reflects a sophisticated blend of Hawaiian and Balinese design and detail, including a double pitched roof, 20 foot vaulted ceilings, rich, teak flooring, carved wood doors and ceiling molding, ceiling fans and sill vent windows which allow a flow of fresh air from the outside to naturally cool the house. The house is also fully air-conditioned, with separate zones in all rooms. The house sleeps 8, with 4 bedrooms, 3 ½ baths, a living room, study, family room, exercise room and two large, covered lanais.
The large living room has 20 foot, vaulted ceilings and 30 feet of sliding glass doors that open to a spacious, covered lanai, creating a huge, indoor/outdoor living space with complete privacy and magnificent ocean views and breezes. The room is entered through a gracious foyer, has a Steinway grand piano and comfortable seating for relaxing and visiting. The dining room also opens onto the lanai and flows into a large kitchen with granite counters, a center island, and top of the line appliances. Outside the kitchen is a built-in, gas barbeque, with a pass through window into the kitchen. Both dining room and kitchen also have 20 foot, vaulted ceilings. The main floor of the house is completed with an office that opens onto the Living Room, Master suite, powder room and laundry room.
Downstairs are an additional Master suite with private bath, and two bedrooms that share a large bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. The family room has a pool table, large T.V. and opens onto a garden, pool and a covered lanai with a dining table. There is also an exercise room with an elliptical exercise machine, free weights, exercise ball and bands.
The home has wireless Internet throughout, is walking distance from Diamond Head Crater, and within a five minute drive to Waikiki or Kahala Mall. A property manager lives in a separate cottage nearby and weekly maid service is included. A private chef and daily maid service can also be arranged.
