Our Door County home is a treasure...situated on Lake Michigan and alongside a county park that has limited visitors by design. We are very fortunate to have this piece of paradise to enjoy the lake, sun, stars, and each other. Master bath has a double shower and walkout outdoor shower. Details such as cherry wood and slate floors throughout first floor, Door County stone in countertops and fireplace are examples of attention to detail an architect would ensure his guests enjoy. Call to learn of many other amenities!

This listing far exceeds the photos!!! Both the home and the surroundings are fabulous! The home is clean and well-maintained and the kitchen is equipped for anything you might need. The place is roomy without being overpowering and has plenty of space. The fireplace is magnificent, and we made good use of it. If you want to get away from everything, it's perfect being situated adjacent to a large state park. The owner is TERRIFIC and was prompt in answering questions, providing direction and returning the security deposit. The local folks are very welcoming and there is plenty to do a short drive away if you choose to seek it out. We will definitely return and recommend it to families, and couples wanting a quiet get-away.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What a stunning place. Nothing could be more restful than the sound of the lake so close with a view so crisp in the autumn light. Even at the end of the season one can still fully enjoy the surrounding parks & nature walks. We dined at fine restaurants and found shops were pleasantly busy.I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful setting with easy access to all the best food, wine and art. The house is cozy enough for two and roomy enough for extended family or a group of friends. A rare opportunity. A special place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This house is adjacent on the north side of Cave Point County Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park, which makes for easy access to hiking, biking and running trails and alot of privacy. The sunrises over Lake Michigan were absolutely beautiful and the camp fires in the evening were very relaxing. The sound of the waves hitting the shore put us to sleep each night. The master bedroom suite with doors leading to the deck was convenient for stepping outside each morning and walking down to the lake. We brought kayaks with us, but it was not convenient to put them in the lake at the house due to the narrow and rocky path down to the lake and the water levels being low. There is a boat launch about a half mile to the north, which was convenient. The grills (gas and charcoal) were great to have, as we cooked all meals at the house. We brought ingredients to make homemade pizza, but decided not to make it because the oven is a combination microwave and oven and didn't think it would turn out. The upstairs has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, in addition to a loft sitting area and two doors leading out to small decks. This allowed for plenty of space, privacy and views of Lake Michigan and those sunrises! If you're looking for a house on the quiet side, that is private and has close proximity to nature - this is a good place to stay. The boat launch for Clark Lake is about a mile away or you can walk to this inland lake via the State Park trail. It's also a short drive to Kangaroo Lake and if you don't mind driving a little farther north, Europe Lake and Mink River are good to kayak - all convenient to this house. We also brought out mountain bikes and road bikes. There is a two car garage, but it's not open for guest use. It would have been handy to store the kayaks and four bikes in the garage, especially since it rained one day and was very windy for two days. There is a TV, but only works for DVDs. We're college football fans and wanted to watch the Badger game so we drove to Coyote Roadhouse to watch the game on Saturday evening. It would have been nice to watch the Thursday night Packer game at the house with a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace and homemade meal, but watching the stars over the outdoor fire and hearing the waves hit the shore were fine with me (not my husband or son...). They watched the game on their iPhones using the homes WiFi. All in all, this is a good place and would recommend for two adult couples or a family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Wonderful house, outstanding location, in excellent repair. The sunrises over the lake were indescribable. Could have done with a TV to watch the baseball games, a more useable washer/dryer set-up and a more conventional/easier to use oven in the kitchen, but all other amenities were great. We're already talking about when we can return. If you're happy with a rock beach instead of sand, less tourist traffic and love to be surrounded by nature, this is the place for you.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Fair enough...it really is a place for folks that are not looking for TV and more for the glorious nature all around. We do have a DVD player and lots of movies. We have a European washer/dryer...more for incidentals vs. large loads. And our oven may try to be one too many things...it's both a convection oven and microwave. One of the items I'll probably replace next year so it's easier for newcomers to use. Glad despite these observations, Ralf appreciates the beauty of our home and being on the shores of Lake Michigan taking in the sunrises and shoreline...he's planning to return!

We loved our week in this property. We were there with our son, daughter-in-law, their baby, and our daughter. There was easily room for everybody. It is a beautiful home-well designed and cared for. It has a lovely kitchen, dining room, and aliving room. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious. It was lovely to go to sleep at night listening to Lake Michigan. But the highlight of the house was the deck in back and an eating area and fire pit right at the edge of Lake Michigan. We took our dinner down there every evening just to sit by the lake. You can also walk down to the lake and go swimming right from the property. It is also very well located right near Whitefish Dunes State Park which has a wonderful sandy beach. It was also fun to go bike riding in the neighborhood which was very quiet unlike the more touristy Bay side. It was just wonderful to stay there and we cannot wait to go back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family (six adults and five small children) had everything we needed and more at Lakeside Paradise. The home is lovely...but homey and inviting. A lot of thought was put into the structure of the house. We enjoyed being out of town, but close enough to all the things we were interested in...salmon fishing, horseback riding, animal farm. Yes, I would recommend a visit to this welcoming property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! We awoke to glorious sunrises over the Lake. The location of the house near Whitefish Dunes State Park made for peaceful morning runs along the trails. A cool rainy evening allowed us to take advantage of the cozy fireplace. The rest of the evenings were spent relaxing around the outdoor firepit. The home is beautiful, comfortable and well-kept. About the owner: My father designed this home to be a fabulous retreat from city life. Crack any window open and the lake is in the room. Windows abound so the outside is inside. When I come to Door County the stress of day to day life just slips away and the wildlife, lake and new areas to discover bring many moments of enjoyment.
Why the Owner Chose Jacksonport:
The beauty of this property is that it is on the lakeside, you have peaceful, gorgeous views, the lake in all it's splendor; stars at night you've never seen before; daytime privacy, hiking trails unending, and just a short drive away, when you wish to shop, vist art galleries, eat out, etc. you are close by. However, the town just up the road is Baileys Harbor and it has one of the best restaurants we've been to in the world...Savuer. Enjoy! PS I have at our home a long, diverse list of activities for families, couples, nature lovers, shoppers, gallery lovers, boaters, explorers, as well as recommended restaurants, a calendar of events and directions to sites, parks and towns near by, and essential services you may need.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love the privacy...we have a county park to the south of us, so no one can build or daily encroach on our enjoyment. We have two patios/porches. One is just above the lake with a fire pit and it's wonderful for the evening with friends or early morning tea all on your own. The two person master suite shower and outdoor shower are both a delight. The lights were custom made for the property and add a wonderful texture to the space. The two story living and dining room, along with the Door County stone fireplace are the favored gathering spots throughout the day, with the many sliding glass doors, you feel like you are outside. The Tempur-Pedic king size bed make slumber a dream.
