This listing far exceeds the photos!!! Both the home and the surroundings are fabulous! The home is clean and well-maintained and the kitchen is equipped for anything you might need. The place is roomy without being overpowering and has plenty of space. The fireplace is magnificent, and we made good use of it. If you want to get away from everything, it's perfect being situated adjacent to a large state park. The owner is TERRIFIC and was prompt in answering questions, providing direction and returning the security deposit. The local folks are very welcoming and there is plenty to do a short drive away if you choose to seek it out. We will definitely return and recommend it to families, and couples wanting a quiet get-away.

What a stunning place. Nothing could be more restful than the sound of the lake so close with a view so crisp in the autumn light. Even at the end of the season one can still fully enjoy the surrounding parks & nature walks. We dined at fine restaurants and found shops were pleasantly busy.I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful setting with easy access to all the best food, wine and art. The house is cozy enough for two and roomy enough for extended family or a group of friends. A rare opportunity. A special place.

This house is adjacent on the north side of Cave Point County Park and Whitefish Dunes State Park, which makes for easy access to hiking, biking and running trails and alot of privacy. The sunrises over Lake Michigan were absolutely beautiful and the camp fires in the evening were very relaxing. The sound of the waves hitting the shore put us to sleep each night. The master bedroom suite with doors leading to the deck was convenient for stepping outside each morning and walking down to the lake. We brought kayaks with us, but it was not convenient to put them in the lake at the house due to the narrow and rocky path down to the lake and the water levels being low. There is a boat launch about a half mile to the north, which was convenient. The grills (gas and charcoal) were great to have, as we cooked all meals at the house. We brought ingredients to make homemade pizza, but decided not to make it because the oven is a combination microwave and oven and didn't think it would turn out. The upstairs has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, in addition to a loft sitting area and two doors leading out to small decks. This allowed for plenty of space, privacy and views of Lake Michigan and those sunrises! If you're looking for a house on the quiet side, that is private and has close proximity to nature - this is a good place to stay. The boat launch for Clark Lake is about a mile away or you can walk to this inland lake via the State Park trail. It's also a short drive to Kangaroo Lake and if you don't mind driving a little farther north, Europe Lake and Mink River are good to kayak - all convenient to this house. We also brought out mountain bikes and road bikes. There is a two car garage, but it's not open for guest use. It would have been handy to store the kayaks and four bikes in the garage, especially since it rained one day and was very windy for two days. There is a TV, but only works for DVDs. We're college football fans and wanted to watch the Badger game so we drove to Coyote Roadhouse to watch the game on Saturday evening. It would have been nice to watch the Thursday night Packer game at the house with a fire in the beautiful stone fireplace and homemade meal, but watching the stars over the outdoor fire and hearing the waves hit the shore were fine with me (not my husband or son...). They watched the game on their iPhones using the homes WiFi. All in all, this is a good place and would recommend for two adult couples or a family.

Wonderful house, outstanding location, in excellent repair. The sunrises over the lake were indescribable. Could have done with a TV to watch the baseball games, a more useable washer/dryer set-up and a more conventional/easier to use oven in the kitchen, but all other amenities were great. We're already talking about when we can return. If you're happy with a rock beach instead of sand, less tourist traffic and love to be surrounded by nature, this is the place for you.

Owner response: Fair enough...it really is a place for folks that are not looking for TV and more for the glorious nature all around. We do have a DVD player and lots of movies. We have a European washer/dryer...more for incidentals vs. large loads. And our oven may try to be one too many things...it's both a convection oven and microwave. One of the items I'll probably replace next year so it's easier for newcomers to use. Glad despite these observations, Ralf appreciates the beauty of our home and being on the shores of Lake Michigan taking in the sunrises and shoreline...he's planning to return!

We loved our week in this property. We were there with our son, daughter-in-law, their baby, and our daughter. There was easily room for everybody. It is a beautiful home-well designed and cared for. It has a lovely kitchen, dining room, and aliving room. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious. It was lovely to go to sleep at night listening to Lake Michigan. But the highlight of the house was the deck in back and an eating area and fire pit right at the edge of Lake Michigan. We took our dinner down there every evening just to sit by the lake. You can also walk down to the lake and go swimming right from the property. It is also very well located right near Whitefish Dunes State Park which has a wonderful sandy beach. It was also fun to go bike riding in the neighborhood which was very quiet unlike the more touristy Bay side. It was just wonderful to stay there and we cannot wait to go back.

Our family (six adults and five small children) had everything we needed and more at Lakeside Paradise. The home is lovely...but homey and inviting. A lot of thought was put into the structure of the house. We enjoyed being out of town, but close enough to all the things we were interested in...salmon fishing, horseback riding, animal farm. Yes, I would recommend a visit to this welcoming property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! We awoke to glorious sunrises over the Lake. The location of the house near Whitefish Dunes State Park made for peaceful morning runs along the trails. A cool rainy evening allowed us to take advantage of the cozy fireplace. The rest of the evenings were spent relaxing around the outdoor firepit. The home is beautiful, comfortable and well-kept. We had an incredibly peaceful and relaxing week. We appreciated learning some of the history of the property and seeing pictures from the A-frame days to the current home. It is a beautiful, first class home in an amazing location. The privacy of the property really contributed to the peacefulness. We filled the bird feeders and saw many from the house, including Chickadees, nuthatches, cardinals, blue jays, hummingbirds, blue bunting, pileated wood pecker, gold finches, robins, sea gulls, hawks. Also red squirrels, gray squirrels, a wood chuck and deer. Thank you. Wish we could stay several times a year.

Our group (three "senior" married couples) stayed at this house during 10-17 October 2010. The house fit our needs perfectly... 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (2 up and 2 down)... each couple had a private bathroom!!! The house is spacious, has many tall windows in every room and breathtaking views of lake Michigan. It is located on a secluded, wooded lot on a rustic country road on the Lake Michigan waterfront immediately adjacent to Cave Point County Park. The week we rented, the fall colors were spectacular!!! The house comes fully equipped with many amenities... all you need to bring is your clothes, toiletries and any food you plan to cook while there. Cell phone connectivity can be iffy, if you don't have one of the large providers and TV reception can be spotty (no cable/dish)... but who wants to watch a lot of TV when there is so much to see and do? Like fresh ground coffee? The house has a coffee bean grinder, a drip coffee pot and a french coffee press. Want to grill out? the house has propane and charcoal grills. Like a fire at night? The house has an indoor fireplace in the cathedral ceiling great room, an outdoor fire grill on the deck by the lake and plenty of kindling and firewood. Like to play board games? The house comes equipped with most of the common games families enjoy playing. Like nature walks? Enjoy the trails of adjacent Cave Point Park and the sandy beaches of Whitefish Dunes State park. Plan to do a lot of automobile sight seeing... there are beautiful vistas along the roads that run along the waterfront and that cross the peninsula. There are wineries, scenic lighthouses, quaint villages and excellent restaurants all within easy driving distance Bleys Market in nearby Jacksonport can provide all of your food needs, including superior meat from animals raised in the county and butchered at the market. Your landlord is very friendly to talk to and can give you all sorts of great suggestions of things to see and places to visit. We highly recommend renting this house for your Door County vacation!!!!

The pictures do not do justice to this home. The fireplace alone is a stonemawson's masterpiece. The views were great, stars engaging and teh sunrise was the best. The house is very comfortable and allows for the quiet enjoyment of the property and the area.
