My 2nd Stay - Paradise!

Guest: Molokai Barbie (Oregon)
Date of Stay: 01/07/12 Review Submitted: 01/22/12

I've stayed in many rental homes on Molokai but this house is the ONE. If you really want to get away and escape the rat race you will not be disapointed. No traffic, sirens, crowds or noisy neighbors. The only sounds you will here are nature at it's finest. It's a bird watchers dream along with deer, turkey's, whales right off the bay and sunsets from this beach are world class!! Not to mention the stars at night- it's simply mind blowing. The house is sprawling and wonderfully appointed. Warning though... once you get to the house you will have little motivation to leave. Absolute paradise on Molokai- I can't wait to visit again!! Many Mahalos Scott!

Seven days in Paradise is not enough!

Second time to Molokai, but first time to Dixie Maru and this beach house, and it did not disappoint. We felt very at home in the gorgeous accommodations, and the stunning views didn't hurt either! Went fishing, explored the island with drives all over, and spent lots of time on the beach and lanai lounging and relaxing. Ahhhhhh! There was lots of whale watching right off the lanai. Can't wait to come back....the guys are already petitioning for summer and winter trips. Mahalo

Exclusive Tropical Estate Experience.

Guest: Harvey C. (Vancouver, B.C.)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 01/02/12

We love the peace, quiet and un-touristed pace of Molokai, so we were glad to rent Beach House on Dixie Maru. I was looking for a private tropical experience so my wife and 5 yr old daughter could pass the time near beach and sand, uninterrupted. Passing thru this home's private gate was just the start to our unique & memorable experience: a large estate like home over looking a west facing- secluded, coral sand beach, warm-calm waters and fire laden sunsets every night. This kind of seclusion and privacy is not for everyone especially if you crave your daily Starbucks, fine dinning and urban hangouts; Molokai is not at all your place for that matter. What makes 'Molo' unique and what you will find here is a beach house connected to the land and sea around it, a place to come relax and let time pass without clock watching, a place to cook your own meals with friends and love ones, to loose your self without a care in the world. The house is not a modern hi tech marvel ; it's well designed custom layout with massive timber beams and fine wood detailing throughout achieves a nice balance between large open plan family living-entertaining and the well appointed private bedrooms and spaces in the wings & up upstairs. The architect thought out these attributes well, further rooting this home to its unique land and sea location and there are enough games & beach gear to keep several families happy. Before motels, hotels, condos, apartments, timeshares, subdivided lots and beachfront slices choker block full of neighbors where ever paradise meets people.....before all this...... you have Beach House...quiet, alone, tranquil....wake up and stare at an empty beach and bay; go for a morning beach walk & swim, have lunch, nap, go for a hike or drive along empty roads, enjoy your diner on deck with red-orange suns sets, beach, surf and waves as the wonder on the Milky Way lights up the sky- every night! These preferences are not to everyones tastes- to which I am glad. The House Keeper and Scott were helpful and gracious during our stay and we wish to thank them for all their efforts. A hearty recommend for all those who agree with the above!

Mahalo nui to the Hamamoto's for a much needed retreat to this oasis in Molokai. The wind, sea, sand, salt, seals and stars were most therapeutic.

The house is wonderful...so perfect for our family. This has been a very relaxing week. We have enjoyed the beaches, drove to the end of the road on the other end of the island, with a few stops along the way. Thank you for sharing with us this treasure of a home! Loved it very much.

Peace and tranquility

This is a special place. It is not what you might think of as the "Hawaii" in the brochure. There are not a lot of restaurants and tourists. What you do get, though, is the most peaceful, wonderful, relaxing vacation at a house that has everything you need. The cove is fun for swimming. Very nearby, you can find great snorkeling. We would recommend taking a guide boat through Molokai Fish and Dive out to the reefs. It's amazing.

the BEST beach house on Molokai!!!

Guest: Jeff (Hollywood, CA, USA)
Date of Stay: 12/30/10 Review Submitted: 01/30/11

This is the best rental house in all of Hawaii! I am a television producer living in Hollywood CA. I wanted to disappear on a vacation that would be a beautiful, peaceful, private, and relaxing - a getaway where I would not be surrounded by "tourists". The Dixie house fit the bill on all counts. Its location at the end of the road on its own private acres behind gates is spectacular. Laying in bed in the master bedroom and seeing / hearing the waves crash on the beach is heaven. And this is the best swimming beach on the island, just steps from the back door. I went swimming every day. The outdoor shower was a total treat - I never used any of the indoor showers! And the house comes with towels, bedding, and all the kitchen gear you could ever need. It also has all the outdoor gear you might want to use. For a relaxing getaway, this is likely the best spot I have ever found in America. And I'm grateful to Scott who coordinated the whole rental process and made it all so clear and simple with his directions and tips. I did not want to return to Los Angeles. But when I did return, I was more relaxed and recharged that I have been in years. Thank you, Dixie House! Jeff Jenkins, Hollywood CA

The ultimate Hawaiian experience, a perfect paradise!

Guest: Linette (Santa Ynez, CALIF)
Date of Stay: 09/07/10 Review Submitted: 10/19/10

We had an incredible vacation in Molokai (Sept 2010), the true old Hawaii that everyone is looking for, but found only on this wonderful island. This beautiful home was the perfect spot, located on a gorgeous beach with EZ trails to other secluded beaches. The swimming, snorkeling and kayaking was excellent, even caught some afternoon pupus of crab and lobster! The water is teaming with fish swimming in colorful coral reefs. Many days we had the beach all to ourselves. The house itself is beautiful and was perfect for our family, with ocean views from every room, a true paradise. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and the home is well stocked with everything you need to have a perfect stay. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need and provided it in the home, kayak, snorkels, bicycles, boogie boards, board games, puzzles, BBQ, well equipped kitchen, beach chairs, towels, new appliances, quality linens. We enjoyed many a sunset on the spacious deck overlooking the bay. Grandma loved the huge screened lanai area where she relaxed while we snorkeled. I loved the quiet evenings enjoying the millions of stars from the loungers on the deck. I highly recommend this very special private home for your Molokai vacation. The house is in the best location of this whole area, at the end of the road, for EZ access to one empty beach after another right outside your doorstep. It was my second time here--loved it so much the first time with some girlfriends, that I brought my family back the second time. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return!
