Our home on Stony Lake is a private oasis on six acres of forest, with 270' of lakefront.
There is a gourmet kitchen with a marble counter and a six-piece gas range. You can eat at the counter or just talk to the cook.
Upstairs is just the master suite, with a huge bathroom with claw foot tub, windows to the sky, a private deck off the bedroom and you can tune the music into the bathroom during your bath.
There is a courtyard in the middle with trees and a spice garden, a dock for sunbathing and watching the boats go by, and a shallow smoothed-rock beach good for children over on the other side.
The house easily sleeps six and there are private patio areas all over for private book reading.
The downstairs bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub. It is between the two bedrooms on the main floor, behind the kitchen.

Why the Owner Chose Stoney Lake
We bought the land on Stony Lake because a friend of ours told us what a wonderful community it was; their family had been there for two generations. The area is extremely beautiful and when we bought, there were no buildings or roads near our home. One time we visited while planning the house, we were stuck in an ice storm and our car couldn't get up the hill. This is how we met our nearest neighbour, me knocking on the door in a balaclava, eight months pregnant. They gave us hot chocolate and called CAA.
The Unique Benefits at this House
One of the great things about travelling to Stony Lake is that it is only 2 hours from Toronto. The drive is lovely and we stop in Lakefield, 20 minutes from the house, and on the way, to buy groceries. Lakefield has a great market store with fresh produce and a great butcher next door. There is a liquor store and beer store. Also, we travel into Peterborough for movies and dinner, which is about a 40 minute drive from the house. Peterborough has lovely restaurants and cafes. Also, in a completely different direction, we go at least once a summer to Petroglyph park, about a 15-20 minute drive from our place, where ancient drawings in the rock sit in the middle of the forest. (under a glass building)

My husband and I bought our land just before our first son was born. It took two years to build the house, which an architect designed the way we liked. You can see all over the house and front of the property from the kitchen, which is what I wanted. We decided to have an all-wood house and it feels very good inside. We truly go there to relax, be creative and have fun. My kids gather wood, we make fires, go on walks, swim and play tennis in the summer. Friends who have stayed have told us how relaxed they are when they leave.
