Our home on Stony Lake was featured in the July, 2009 issue of 'COTTAGE LIFE' MAGAZINE.
Our home on Stony Lake is a on six acres of forest, with 270' of lakefront.
There is a nice kitchen with a marble counter and a six-piece gas range. You can eat at the counter.
Upstairs is just the master bedroom, with a bathroom and deck.
There is a courtyard at the entry. There is shallow swimming on a rock beach and 3' depth at the dock on the other side.
The house sleeps six. It is rustic, a good size and comfortable. It is definitely a cottage instead of a house and though the cleaners clean the whole thing every visit, this is a home and when you arrive, someone was there the day before. So, if you like clean and realize this is also someone else's and there are personal items around, this is the place for you.
The downstairs bathroom has a jet tub. It is between the two bedrooms on the main floor, behind the kitchen.
There are lots of nice private areas to sit and read.

Why the Owner Chose Stoney Lake
We bought the land first and then built because we wanted a peaceful place. The area is extremely beautiful and when we bought, there were no buildings or roads near our home. One time we visited while planning the house, we were stuck in an ice storm and our car couldn't get up the hill. This is how we met our nearest neighbour, me knocking on the door in a balaclava, eight months pregnant. They gave us hot chocolate and called CAA.

The drive is usually only 2 to 2 1/2 hours from Toronto. It will be longer in rush hour.
Owner's Map of Stoney Lake
My husband and I bought our land just before our first son was born. We are happy with it. It has worn well, now being twelve years old. You can see all over the house and can see the front of the property from the kitchen. We decided to have an all-wood house so we don't allow outdoor fires or fireworks. We go on walks, swim and play tennis in the summer. Friends who have stayed have told us how relaxed they are when they leave. For this reason, we do not have internet and cell phones don't work because of the granite under the house. It is a short drive, about 5 - 10 minutes to the library where there is internet in the library during working hours and in your car, outside, after hours.
Unlimited North American phone calling is included in the rental.
