My wife and me recently stayed at the cabin for a week. Peaceful and quiet. We were very pleased with the experience. Fishing was great on both Bull Shoals lake and the White river. Cheree and Todd are wonderful hosts with a wealth of information of the area. This area of AR is the most beautiful in the state and we will surley be back!

Lakeside Hermitage is the most wonderful place we have ever stayed at Bull Shoals in our 14 years of going there. We, my wife, two daughters, my elderly mom, and our two dogs decided to go for a mini vacation as my mom had broken her neck and was in an assisted living facility for 6 months and we wanted to treat her. When we arrived it was 12:15 pm and 102 outside, we walked into this beautiful cabin (inside and out) and it was 73 degrees inside. The girls claimed their bunk bed and Gran wanted the roll away so we could have the master bedroom. We spent time looking around at all the decorations, the place was clean and very well maintaned. Had a wonderful meal cooked on the bbq grill and then we watched a movie with popcorn and ice cream and went to bed. We all slept very well, my back hurt a little from the bed, but I am used to a very firm bed. Our day was then spent in the deck boat on the lake tubing, fishing, swimming, and the girls fed the giant carp and ducks at the marina we went to. We then went swimming and fishing from the swimming platform/dock for a while. Gran was worn out and we decided to call it a day at about 8:00. Had pizza and ice cream and another movie. Sunday (the temp was 75) my wife and I went on the White River with Todd the property host and we each caught a very nice brown trout, 19, and 19-1/2 in. they have to be 24 to keep :-( ,caught several rainbow trout that we took home and grilled (wow). The other 3 were lazy and stayed in playing games and watching movies. We all slept in Monday morn and then went out fishing again on the lake (too cool to get in water) we caught several perch and a couple catfish. The dogs thought that was great! We went back to the marina so the girls could feed the fish again (the dogs got to see them this time, funny). We had another great day and then we had to leave the next day. We enjoyed watching and listening to the birds, the squirrels, saw a couple turkey and several deer. The girls loved the swing. Todd and Cheree were absolutely wonderful, answered our questions and helped when we needed them. The cabin was stocked with everything we could possibly need, was cozy, comfortable and very peaceful. (other than the creak in the floor when you are trying to sneak out for a midnight snack of milk and cookies and your daughter catches you!) Wonderful experience and will definitely return for a full vacation next year.

I would not recommend this place. We just got back after cutting our vacation short. . When we arrived we found quite a bit dirt on the floor (especially under the beds, the couch and tables). We have been to many rustic vacation rentals and the cleanliness was surely not the best. We had significant problems with hornets/wasps….there must be a nest in or near the house because we encountered them very frequently inside the cabin. Luckily the local home manager provided me with a can of hornet spray so I kept busy managing the problem. We left early because we weren’t enjoying the stay. The owner failed to inform us the lake was 50 ft above its norm….” a record “, according to the home manager. The high water levels forced the swim platform into the trees...the owners said the receding water moved the platform out of the trees…we’ll it was in the trees when we were there. One of my young kids got stuck on a submerged tree....very scary for everyone. Our kids love the water but hated swimming in the trees. We love to fish but the highly touted fishing was non-existent. After packing up to leave we did a once over of the house to make sure we didn’t forget anything and found dog hair in the top bunk. We didn’t bring our dog so it must have been left by the prior guests. Further inspection found blood on the sheets in the big bed…none of my kids suffered any injuries plus my kids are too small to even utilize that part of the bed so it must have been left by the prior guests. Pretty disgusting. This in a house were you have to pay a cleaning fee. Upon returning home we sent an email containing our complaints to the owners. They responded by trying to blame us for not researching the lake and not knowing about the water conditions. The blamed us for the dirty house, the dog hair and the bloody sheets. They said our complaints were “moot”. Needless to say we weren’t happy with our stay at The Lakeside Hermitage or with the response to our complaints by the owners. I would NOT go there again and surely would NOT recommend it to anyone

My family just completed a stay at the Lakeside Hermitage and the cabin is just absolutely adorable!!! They have all the furnshings of home which was nice. My 4 year loved all of the bird houses and seeing all of the beautiful birds on the property and the lake itself was just gorgeous. Cheree and Todd were wonderful hosts and my husband was especially grateful to Todd for all of his fishing tips!! It was great to find a place that we could bring our dogs as they had a great time and loved running around and sunbathing on the dock with us. We look forward to making another visit to Lakeside Hermitage!!!

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the cabin with our son and his friend. Everything was super! We cooked all our meals except one (we had a pizza delivered to the Bull Shoals Lake Dock from Bush's which was a great pizza!) The kitchen was incredibly well stocked just as others have said. We had Cheree make us her famous chocolate cake for our anniversary - it was fabulous and shouldn't be missed. They even had a dog bowl & bed for our son's dog! We rented the boat on Julie's late season special 2-for-1 days. We didn't fish although we would next time - could've probably caught a bunch! The boat was well equipped - we suggest renting it while you are there - we will when we return. I have rented through VRBO many times in the past in lots of varied places and have never been disappointed. Julie's place is fantastic!!

My wife and I recently spent twelve magnificent days at this property. The description of the surroundings and the cabin itself was right on. The cabin was very inviting and clean. Every imaginable tool and utensil from flashlight to broiling pan is provided. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and our privacy was always respected. Todd and Cheree, the property hosts, were awesome. Not only did they explain everything in detail they offered excellent advice on local happenings and restaurants. We always felt as if this was our property. Imagine waking up to cool weather and walking/riding down to your private dock for early morning fishing. As it warms up you load up in the 21' Deck boat and head out for cruising, skiing, or on a secluded island on Bull Shoals eating lunch and napping. We watched the sun go down on this lake from the boat on numerous occasions and it was very peaceful and beautiful. I literally could go on and on about the positives of this lake property. If you want a private, clean, comfortable retreat with an easy to deal with owner and outstanding property hosts than look no further in the Ozarks. I doubt you will find it. Oh yeah, did I mention our dog Madeline was made very welcome as well and I'm sure she had a blast.

My husband and I went for the weekend (without our 3 kids) and had a wonderful time. The cabin was clean and cozy. When we arrived the air conditioning was on, the lights were dimmed and there was some homemade plum jam for us. We'll be doing it again soon!

My husband & I just spent 3 WONDERFUL days at this cabin, and are already talking about going back! It is definitely off of the beaten path, but you can't get that kind of peace & tranquility right off the highway! The lake is GORGEOUS! The fishing was a blast! Miss Sherry's chocolate cake is OUT OF THIS WORLD! All of the ammenities of home, but none of the hustle & bustle... What a relaxing escape. LOVED IT!!! The boat that is available at the cabin is perfect for jetting around the lake - and the water was like glass every morning. The dock is PLENTY big, with a swimming platform and area to clean any fish that you catch. Coffee on the deck in the morning is a must! I've never seen such a diverse group of birds - and butterflies! Very cool! A grill is available for cooking out, and if you want to stay in, there are plenty of board games to occupy your time. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin. We'll definitely be going back!

The Lakeside Hermitage is exactly as described on the web site, only better! Extremely clean, comfortable, well equipped and full of adventure! My wife and I and our two girls 9 and 11 stayed a week and two other couples that are friends of ours came and stayed a few days with us. I wasn't sure it would fit us all, but it did and comfortably I might add. The girls had to sleep in every bed including the roll away, they even wanted to sleep under the day bed after the other one was pulled out from it! It was over 100 degrees the entire week and the cabin stayed nice and cool the whole time. I went on a fishing trip on the white river and caught several trout, rainbow and brown. We were able to bring enough home to feed all of us and the caretakers! The boat dock has a wonderful swimming area and an area just to lie around on. The boat was a lot of fun too, we went fishing, cruising, and tubing (too chicken to ski). I cannot say enough things about this place. We will definitely be booking for another week next year. I may just find a sitter and go for a nice romantic getaway, it would be perfect for it! Thanks Julie and Randy for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! See you next year!

We are a family of 3 myself, my wife and daughter 11. we have been to bull shoals several times as well as Table Rock. When I found the Lakeside Hermitage on line I said to myself wow. We come down from KC MO the drive is beautiful drove in through Flippen and drove right to the cabin. The directions I received were great. when we arrived at the cabin and went inside my wife and and I both said to each other we did real good picking this one out, My daughter loved the loft and fell in love with this little cabin as we did. The cabin is perfict very clean comfortable beds, TV with DVD videos, nice little selection the kitchen area has every thing and more, griddle, toaster all the pots and pans, silver wear, paper plates baggies foil it is stocked better than my house it was so nice. the bathrooms have shampoo, conditioner, soap and there are tons of towels, and if you need a washer and dryer they have one. It gets better there is a gator for use to get to get to the lake, we are lake people we'll walk, but it was so very nice to be able to jump on and drive to the dock. The boat dock is very nice and there is a swim platform to hang out on plenty big enough. Instead of going to the marina to rent a boat I just rented the one at the cabin how sweet is that, We all ski if you wonder if the boat will pull you up let me tell you I weigh 205 lbs and I skiied for 2 full days. The cabin Hosts Todd and Cheree have to be the nicest people we have meet. They are there for you!! They also carter food. we had a fish fry and it was just great, we invited Todd and Cheree to eat with us that how awesome they are and we had a blast. This cabin is fantastic everything about it, the web sit is so detailed I could not believe it. I only have 700 characters left so here it is, if you love the lake wether it is to boat, fish, or just enjoy the privacy and relaxation then this cabin is like a little slice of heaven. We will be return guest. and Thank you Todd and Cheree for everything. I highly recommend this cabin.

Our family just returned home from our week at this cabin and I have to say that it was wonderful. If it's privacy and comfort you are looking for, this is the place for you. Besides our hosts and the occasional boat on the lake, we had complete privacy. The home was clean and well stocked w/towels, linens, and even basic grocery like sugar, seasoning, mayo/mustand...etc. The host couple was wonderful and made sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They offer catering and baked goods, home made jelly, etc...our kids had specific food requests so we handled the cooking ourselves, but we did order a chocolate cake that was heavenly. We rented the boat one day and had a wonderful time on the lake tubing and skiing (boat, tube, skiis, ropes, etc are all available at the house so no need to haul those yourself). The water was beautiful! We even had pizza delivered to the boat dock right to the boat...I thought that was pretty neat! The only thing I have to say as a caution is that this cabin is remote...you are a good distance from town so you want to make sure you have what you need because the trip to town is about 25 minutes. It's remote location is well rewarded w/ample privacy, however. Also, for those who will be staying in the loft area...pack lightly because the stairs are steep. Honestly, we didn't use half of the clothes we packed anyway because we stayed largely in swim suits/shorts/t shirts and w/the washer and dryer so handy (and w/the provided laundry detergent) we didn't need a lot. The bottom line is that if you are looking for a private, comfortable, let your hair down kind of vacation, this is the place for you.

What a find. This cabin is outstanding. If you’re looking to get away from it all, Lakeside Hermitage is just what you're looking for. The "house hosts" are exceptional and offer many available and affordable packages; horseback riding, fishing tours, fresh baked goods..... Cabin Sweet Cabin. The lake location is marvelous, if you're a boating or fishing enthusiast, give this home a try. The boat dock and swimming platform were two of our favorite features, the gator sure made trips down to the boat dock easy and fun. One of our travelers caught a 7 lb Brown Trout (thank you Todd) and a huge lake catfish right off the dock! Again if you’re looking for a quiet haven - this is it. The cove has beautiful sunsets and clear cool water for your enjoyment. We did haul our own boat down, but there are plenty of boats for rent on the lake. If you haul your own boat and it is a “biggin” we suggest putting the boat in at Bull Shoals boat dock and traveling to the cabin’s boat dock via water, because the steep gravel roads were difficult to maneuver with a large boat in tow. The house hosts can give you excellent directions on the lake to the cove. The fire pit was huge and firewood was well stocked. We enjoyed several evenings out under the stars. Clear water, beautiful sunsets, lake cliffs, and stargazing, all bundled up and wrapped in a cozy, comfortable home. Aaahhh… A BIG thank you to the generous owners for sharing their little piece of heaven with us.

We found this cabin to be comfortable, clean, and supplied with all of the comforts of home. The host couple is friendly and very helpful. I would caution that the walk to the dock is long unless you use the gator or bring a four wheeler. The road into the cabin is long and partly gravel, but you can come and go by water and the Bull Shoals boat dock. The dock is great! There is really only room for one adult couple to be comfortable, the rest of the beds are big enough for children.

Wow! What a treasure this cabin is. We can't wait to get back there. The home is very clean and comfortable. The entire cabin has recently been updated and is immaculately maintained. Everything you need is there for cooking, but we'd suggest the catering option, espcially on the nights you return from the lake and just want to relax. Everything was delicious! The area is calm, secluded, and beautiful. A true get-away. The lake is just amazing. Be sure to ask about the fishing excursion on the White River. The guide is wonderful. Can't say enough good things about this cabin! We LOVED it.

We just spent 3 nights at the Lakeside Hermitage cabin and really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is SO cute and well taken care of. It is nicely furnished and was very clean. We appreciated that the cabin had lots of things we needed like coffee, margarine, spices, a grill to bar-b-que, soap with the washer and dryer, etc. We enjoyed having a DVD player to use at night. We especially LOVED how quiet and secluded the cabin was. It was so nice to be away from noise. Cheree who takes care of the cabin for Julie is so very helpful which was a very nice plus. The cabin is so adorable. We loved our stay!

The hospitality was incredible - the owner/caretaker made us feel so welcome and comfortable that we have decided to try to vacation here every year!We would rate this cabin an A+++++++++++++ Thank you so much for everything!
