This is our second year in this charming house. We have been coming for 5 years and this house is the best . The location is perfect for anyone challenged by the bumpy roads and uneven side-walks. Everything is close by, the roof-top patios are wonderful and the house is very comfortable and clean. The owners are very accommodating and we are happy to have their house while they are gone.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Great location close to shopping and restaurants. This house is well maintained and furniture is new. Skylights make the interior very light and the house has very nice outdoor spaces. We have rented homes in San Miguel before and this one was our favorite.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

About the owner: We are retired college teachers, who decided on a whim to visit San Miguel de Allende. We were forewarned that people come for a visit, become enchanted, and do not want to leave. That is how it was for us.
Why the Owner Chose Centro:
We bought our casa on that first visit. We could not pass it up. We loved the house with its Mexican architectural features, sunny and plant-filled terraces, and its stunning views. Its location was perfect--less than a block from the Instituto Allende, in the commercial Centro area, next to the historical Centro, two blocks from the largest park, in a neighborhood of friendly Mexican and expat neighbors, nice restaurants, grocery (even organic!) shopping, and artisan shops. The ten minute, easy walk to the central Jardin wound past picturesque buildings, shops, galleries, restaurants, street vendors, and people eager to stop and chat. We now live in our casa during the winter season. It has plenty of room, so that our grown children and our friends can visit. We enjoy our casa and San Miguel so much. We hope you will too!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Charming San Miguel is a UNESCO World Heritage site. According to several travel magazines, it is one of the ten most-visited cities in the world. It is a center for arts, handicraft, language and cooking schools, and an abundance of cultural, social, and civic activities. Its central Jardin is alive with music, dancing and people watching. The climate is mild with cool evenings. Founded in the Sixteenth Century as a silver mining city, it retains its Mexican Baroque architecture, cobblestone streets, and many of the traditions of its colonial past. No traffic lights, neon lights, or billboards can be found here. The modern renaissance of the city was spearheaded by the Instituto de Allende, located less than a block from our casa. The Instituto is still a center of culture, classes, and activities. (Don't miss salsa night on Wednesdays at its main restaurant, with the best view in town, or take one of its guided trips to other nearby sights, such as the place where the monarch butterflies from all over the world stay in winter.) There are nearby hot spring spas, hiking, botanical gardens, and fascinating neighboring cities that, along with San Miguel, are of historical and cultural significance. San Miguel is called 'magical' and a place where it is impossible to become bored. We agree!
