Our stay in Venice was fantastic - the booking process was extremely easy, as were the instructions on how to find the apartment. We were met on arrival and shown around, as well as given information on how to find the local supermarket and a folder containing details of places to visit and eat which was really helpful. We also used a company called Walks of Italy for a walking tour of Venice on our first morning which really helped us find our way around and gave us a great overview of the history. We will definitely be back - thank you!

I cannot imagine a better location for a peaceful and comfortable stay in Venice. The best views are literally on your doorstep and every important site is but a very short and enjoyable ferry ride away.

We found this listing accurate (apartment even nicer than depicted) and owners information was Excellent -he had someone meet us when we arrived to show us how to work everything. The apartment was totally clean, comfortable & well designed. The owner gave us a list before we arrived with locations of local places and their hours & his reviews, Very helpful. - this apartment is on the ground floor, the canal (& vaporetto stop) just a few steps away yet the street is quiet & peaceful all night.A ten minute walk gets you to a wonderful restaurant called "Lastorio Cria" in the boatyard up a long flight of stairs -absolutely delicious and super service. We would definitely (and already have) recommended this apartment to friends & relatives.

We loved being away from all the crowds of tourists but still able to have a view of San Marco as we ate outside along the water. The apartment was pristine and Noel, the manager was very helpful showing us how to operate air conditioning, etc. He even showed us how to make our morning espresso! We had everything we needed and the location was perfect for all our needs. Larry, the owner, was always helpful when we asked for information. One doesn't need to pack the travel books bought at home as there are plenty of them in the apartment. The only bad thing was that we couldn't stay longer. The price was reasonable as compared to staying in a hotel. We like to prepare some of our own meals and everything we needed was there for us to do that. If you want a good, quiet and charming location, this is the place for you.

The apartment was every bit as good as promised, and they took care of anything we needed very promptly. Everything was in great condition and well-supplied. (Although I confess we never got around to using the TV or DVD player as we were much too busy enjoying the area!) The best part was the location. Giudecca really is a "retreat" from the crowds, very peaceful and a great place to just stroll and look across to the sights of Venice. It is just a few steps from the vaporetti dock which was just 5 minutes across the water to all the major sights. If I were ever to come back I would make sure to stay here again.

We had such a wonderful and very comfortable stay in the apartment on Giudecca. It's a very easy hop on the boat over to Venice and a very nice reprieve from the crowds at the end of each day. I would certainly recommend staying here and if we are lucky enough to return to Venice, we shall certainly stay again!

This apartment was absolutely immaculate and the best equipped of the many we rented during our stay in Italy. It is much more attractive than the photos can possibly show, and our experience there exceeded our expectations! No amenity was overlooked, including green products for personal care. We were met promptly and given a tour of the unit, so we knew where everything was and how it worked. Nothing was left to chance. It was heavenly to arrive back at the apartment after long days of exploration, as it was so cool and inviting. Situated in a residential area made it fun to explore in the evening and it was wonderfully quiet compared to the chaos of the main tourist area, although it was so very close and easy to access whenever we wished. Larry's suggestions were very helpful, from directions and dining to sightseeing. We cooked a few meals there, as we wanted an authentic experience and enjoy cooking from the local abundance. Purchasing food from the handy markets, and navigating such a complete kitchen made our goal easy. Our favorite thing to do was to sit out on the fondementa and enjoy watching the locals greet one another, walk their dogs and engage in their everyday activities. The backdrop for all of this was the water and all the interesting boat traffic coming and going, not to mention the fabulous view! Our only regret was not having more time to spend at this wonderful property!

We really enjoyed staying at this property. I feel it's a good value for the price. The surround area of Giudecca has good restaurants and a great place for morning coffee. The location is also convenient to the rest of Venice with a quick one-stop ride on the vaporetto.

We stayed here during May and had a lovely time. Larry was very helpful and had many tips and advice for us 'first-time-visitors-to-venice' right from the beginning. The apartment was easy to get to, very comfortable and unbeatable for the location in quiet Giudecca but only a very short trip to town by vaporetti. Great views across to the city - loved our breakfasts & coffee at Palanca bar. Definitely recommend this holiday rental.

My mom and I spent three lovely nights in this apartment at the beginning of what ultimately turned into a month long adventure in Italy, and we were very pleased with the entire experience! As most reviewers have mentioned, the Giudecca is absolutely the way to go if you're more interested in experiencing a local flavor of Venetian culture and lifestyle (in fact I'm almost hesitant to highlight this gem to the masses and threaten what a reprieve it is from the main islands), and we found this particular apartment to fit us perfectly. Retiring to the Giudecca after a day of exploring the main islands of Venice was an absolute delight. You can sit and gaze at the famous Venetian skyline from the waterfront cafes only steps away from the apartment door, stroll along the fondamenta with the locals taking their evening walks, jump on a vaporetto for adventures on the other Venetian islands, and experience Venice without the occasionally distracting streams of tourists that populate the other islands. The bed and convertible sofa were fantastic for us both, and I happened to be having sciatica issues at the time. The kitchen was well equipped (the dishwasher was apparently out of order, but we didn't care) and enabled us to cook for ourselves, as this is something we love to do and wanted to be able to use the bounty of divine produce, meats, cheeses, and breads we bought from the Rialto markets in addition to eat the local cuisine prepared for us at restaurants. The decor of the apartment is great (love the sparkly marble floors, it was like walking on a starry sky!), the washer/dryer indispensable for a long stay, and the bathtub a rarity based on my experience on renting apartments in Italy. The neighborhood is lovely, with great food and sights. The owner of the apartment went above and beyond in making the exact details of transportation options explicitly clear and easy to follow, and they have great suggestions for any needs/desires you might have in terms of experiencing Venice. Communication and transactional processes were seamless and comforting given the inevitable slight leap of faith renting an apartment internationally requires. My husband and I are planning a trip for May of 2012, and we plan on staying here again! Book it!

Having visited Venice many times, we are now convinced that staying on the Giudecca is our location of choice. This apartment was extremely quiet even though it is on the piano terra. Spotlessly clean and spacious, it was a comfortable home for the three weeks of our stay. Mr Davis was very accommodating.

Fantastic apartment!! Flora (property manager) and Noel (maintenance man) were fantastic! We were in Venice in February, 2011 and were absolutely astonished by the quality and location of this apartment. All of the furnishings and appliances are like new. Larry was extremely helpful with excellent directions from the train station to the apartment. Venice less than thirty minutes from the apartment by boat. Vaporetti (boat) stop is less than two blocks from the apartment-so really convenient. Apartment is only about forty feet from the canal. We had a Fantastic three days in Venice and hope to return soon! We would definitely recommend this apartment to friends or relatives going to Venice. Thank You Larry, Flora and Noel We had an absolutely unforgettable vacation!! Sincerely Bill & Shirley & Cookie

We had a great time at Larry's place: the flat was clean and well maintained. The location couldn't have been more ideal: only 2 minutes from the waterbus and 10 minutes from major places of interest. The appartment is located in a quiet area, far from the noise and crowd of the heart of the city... Larry was very helpful from the beginning, and we would greatly recommend this place to anyone willing to stay in Venice.

We had a magnificent time in Venice and were so glad we chose to stay on the Giudecca – It was fantastic to leave the busy streets behind at the end of the day and return to a more tranquil “real” neighborhood. The apartment was great and suited us well. All in all we enjoyed ourselves immensely and just wish we had more time…… All the best, and thanks again, Jude

The photos don't do this wonderful apartment justice. Located right on the waterfront, it was so lovely to come home here and relax after full days of sightseeing. Sleek and modern, it was like staying in a luxury hotel, only with more room, a full kitchen and washer/dryer! We are a family of four (two adults, two teens) and were quite comfortable. A nearby grocery store was a wonderful asset, and the restaurants that were steps from the apartment were great. We'd stay here again, no question about it!

Owner response: Translation: The two of us were in Venice at the apartment for three wonderful days at the Redentore. The apartment is just perfect! Of the marked square in front of the building on the banks of the Giudecca Canal, we enjoyed the BEST SEAT at the fireworks. We were right in the middle of the celebration and dancing of all the residents of the Giudecca on the Fondamenta (water's edge) with their own food and drink - the celebration for us was special experience. The apartment is large enough, equipped with everything you need with great taste and high quality furnishings, very clean and has a powerful air conditioning. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Shops and restaurants are nearby. Everything was as described on the website. We were quite happy and can recommend the apartment in all respects

If you are looking for a place that offers peace, comfort and serenity when in Venice either for a holiday (after all the walking and visiting of interesting places), on official business or both, No. 365A in Giudecca is the place for you. The apartment is as advertised on the website - fully equipped with modern facilities and beautiful in its simplicity. You have an added bonus of a very helpful owner who provides you with accurate information from how to find your way to the apartment and around Venice, what type and which transport to take, right up to where to go for the best sights and food. If you are still unsure which of the many interesting places in Venice or the surrounding islands to visit, Mr Davis has thoughtfully placed some guide books in the apartment for you to refer to at your leisure. I must add that there is a friendly helper, too. I would say the apartment is one of the most comnfortable places that my niece, friend and I have stayed and would highly recommend to those looking for a home-away-from-home place to stay when in Venice.

After a month in Florence, we gradually settled into Venice. The Giudecca is actually much more than you described it and is certainly a welcome respite from the crush of tourists in Venice. The renovation work is first class and very tastefully done. My wife, Carolyn, and I are "foodies" and, without being immodest, we can generally prepare food as well as most restaurants. Our formula for enjoying a long term stay is to limit ourselves to eating out at several excellent restaurants and prepare the rest of our meals ourselves. The kitchen here worked for us perfectly. As I said the Giudecca is more that we expected. Big pluses are the COOP supermarket and the top notch fish market, which are very close by. You should try incorporating these into your website description. My wife points out that the website pictures don't do the place justice. You may want to consider redoing them. With free AC, WI-FI, LD Phone and Satellite TV, (and let's not forget Noel the housekeeper) this apartment is a gem and I plan on recommending it to friends.

What a wonderful time we had in Venice! We loved the apartment (very clean) and where it is located on the Guidecca was PERFECT! We were able to be around the local residents rather then all of the tourists. The apartment was convenient to everywhere we wanted to go. We would (and have) highly recommended this property to all of our friends and the information that was provided of restaurants and attractions proved very helpful.

Escape the throngs of tourists for some quiet time on Guidecca with the locals / residents of the area (only one hotel on this island). Great value, thoughtful owners, safe, quiet, clean. We decided to try an apartment for our stay in Venice in April 2010 having stayed in hotels during previous visits. The apartment is a complete find situated on the beautiful Island of Guidecca with fantastic views of Venice across the canal and only a short hop across on a vaporetti to St Marks Square and the Grand Canal. The apartment is fully equipped with all the mod-cons you would wish to find for less than the cost of a hotel room. Mr & Mrs Davis have thought of everything and could not have been more helpful during our stay. If you would like to experience the true Venice then stay at this apartment and you will feel like a resident.

This apartment may be one of the best kept insider secrets in Venice - a fully equipped apartment for less than the cost of a hotel room. And the location could not be any better, on the trendy Guidecca, just a couple of minutes walk from the Cipriani Hotel. You are away from the crowds but with an awesome view of Venice across the canal and a short 5 minute vaporetti ride to St Marks Square and the Grand Canal. Mr. Davis has thoughtfully provided most anything you need, including AC, WiFi, phone, cable tv, along with linens, towels, kitchen utensils - everything to make your stay comfortable. You will feel like a true resident of the Guidecca and Venice during your stay - and you might even run into Elton John who has a house just a few steps away!

We had a great time staying at Larry's place in Venice. The flat had everything we could want, and it was very convenient for the vaparetto to St Mark's square. We appreciated having a list of recommended restaurants in the flat. We were a little worried about going in December but it worked out well, being a very peaceful time to visit venice, without the crowds. The Guidecca island is quiet and has a lovely local atmosphere.

I travel frequently for my job, often staying in hotels both here in the U.S., and abroad. When Larry suggested his and Sherry's apartment for my working trip to Venice, I was delighted. Not only was I thrilled by the prospect of actually staying in an apartment as opposed to an hotel, I was also thrilled to be living among the residents of the city, rather than its tourists. I was wonderfully surprised by the modern luxury of the apartment as well as its convenience to all points in Venice. I would stay again and again and highly recommend the rental to anyone who wants luxury within a charming neighborhood.

I had a fantastic time in Venice. One of the reasons behind this was the apartment I rented to Larry and Sherry. It is a fantastically located place, near the Palanca vaporeto stop, which works non stop and connects the Giudecca with Venice, and it is perfectly conditioned to host up to four people for as long as they need. I stayed there for two months and I believe I could not have made a better choice. The kitchen and the bathroom are new and clean, as the rest of the apartment. The size is perfect to host two peaple and again, you are very close to all the places you could want to visit in Venice.
