This cottage has all you could wish for. 2 Levels to spread out, kitchen and bath filled with all the essentials and more, great jetted tub and an amazing property. Everything is decorated very lovingly like a real home, not only a rental. We spend a week exploring the park which is only minutes away. Our 5 year old daughter participated in many of their great kids programs and became a junior ranger ( she is still proud of that :-) ) Don't think twice about renting this house, you will not be disappointed.

We drove 700 miles in one day to get here. Opened the door around 7 p.m. and were greeted with the aroma of a warm, homemade loaf of bread, with butter and jam all set out. We were famished and it really hit the spot. It only got better. Storybook Cottage is a delight! It is beautifully located next to a rushing brook that provides soothing sound effects. It is beautifully outfitted, like it really was our own personal cabin in the woods. Quiet, quiet, quiet! Sleep like a log! Our dog loved it with all the new smells and trees for his business. Lassen National Park just 6 miles away was all we had wished for, with beautiful vistas and hiking trails. Bernie Falls, less than an hour north, is tremendous and not to be missed. Storybook Cottage exceeded every expectation. As our first VRBO experience, we were completely satisfied. We highly recommend Storybook Cottage to anybody looking for a tremendous get away spot. The pictures are accurate and the property was is perfect condition. Rebecca, the owner, is a delight and helpful for any situation.

My kids, my parents & I had a great stay at the Storybook Cottage. The owner has put an incredible amount of thought into making her guests comfortable -- it is almost like B&B with the owners down the road. We had plenty of room, did not feel cramped and enjoyed the wonderful tub. Lots of pantry and toiletry items available in case anything is forgotten. Although there were plenty of toys and things to do, my children were obsessed with the water motion sprinkler out front and trying to see how close they could get without getting wet. We did manage to miss a beloved toy on our way out, the owner located it that same day and shipped off to my little boy immediately. A great base for exploring Lassen.

Very well furnished home on a picturesque location. Creek runs by backyard, with nice fire pit (where we made smores, etc). Tastefully decorated and well stocked with most of what you need. Located very close to Lassen - this was our base to explore Lassen, Burney Falls, Lake Shasta, Whiskeytown, South Lassen. Rebecca and Bob are great hosts and very thoughtful. We saw plenty of wildlife - including a bear cub from the house itself. I highly recommend this place - a home away from home !!

We had a wonderful time at this cottage on a beautiful peace of stream-front property located nearby Lassen. It is a great location for exploring the park and nearby forest area, but also a peaceful place to spend time at a cabin... tastefully decorated, modern amenities, and we LOVED the outdoor campfire where we roasted s'mores and had a glass of wine. We spent one day hiking in Lassen and my husband and friend went fly-fishing the second day on Hat Creek. Thank you to the Moores for being wonderful hosts and opening up your home!

What a wonderful time we had at the Storybook cottage! The house was adorable and so nicely decorated and provided for all of our needs, to say the least. The property was clean and very well maintained. Kitchen & bathroom very updated and loved all of the french doors. We were pleasantly surprised by the peacefulness of the neighborhood, and and the creek in the back yard was a real plus. It was so nice just sitting on the back deck with such a nice view. It was a real pleasure to meet the friendly owners, and they wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. They even had a loaf of homemade bread baking in the bread machine upon our arrival! Lassen was so close, and we just loved our three hikes. Lassen may be my favorite California park. I would highly recommend this home to anyone, and I can't wait to return!

This was a perfect spot for a visit to Lassen. The cottage has ample space indoors and out. Comfortable beds, wonderful decor, and the sound of a creek to lull you to sleep at night. We enjoyed breakfast overlooking the creek each morning and used the bar-be-que on the deck each evening. Arriving to the smell of freshly baked bread set the stage for a perfect visit. We'll be back, again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this cabin. It was clean and comfortable, and in a great location well-off the main highway, yet very close to the Mt. Lassen park entrance. It was well-stocked with kitchen supplies, had lots of board games, books, and movies, and even had a DSL Internet connection. It was a wonderful retreat from our hectic lives, and we would stay there again.

This property was a wonderful find. It is very charming and comfortable. My son especially enjoyed playing in the stream behind the house and had to be convinced to explore the rest of the area. The layout of the cottage is perfect for an extended family to stay together. Rebecca was also very helpful in giving us tips about Lassen and the surrounding area. I look forward to staying there again.

What a gem! We just spent a week in this little house in the woods. Very peaceful and comfortable. The owners have thought of just about everything. From the awesome outdoor area, to the movie library, to the toys and games, our whole family had a great vacation. Nearby hiking and swimming were excellent.

Thanks, Rebecca, for a wonderful stay at your cabin! The property was beautiful and we appreciated all of the thought that went into making our stay relaxing and comfortable. The kitchen was so well stocked with equipment that gourmet meals were quite easy to create (if we felt like it!). We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck to eat and it was wonderful to hear the sounds of the creek as we sipped wine and relaxed! My husband and father in law hiked to the top of Lassen while we were there and we enjoyed many of the things to do in the area that you recommended. JJ's cafe was fabulous for breakfast! Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Thanks for a fantastic experience and we hope to be back next year.

From the moment we walked in and smelled the fresh bread, I knew this was a special place. The cottage was beautiful with a wonderful deck, indulgent jetted spa tub, and gorgeous views. The creek running in the back was very soothing and relaxing. Our pups really enjoyed having the National Forest next door where we could go for a hike anytime we wanted. Plus with it being so close to Lassen National Park, and some wonderful waterfalls and meadows, it was a great place to stay to enjoy nature's beauty and complete some great hiking. We loved the cottage and I thank Rebecca for sharing it with us. We will definately be back.

Perfect escape! The cabin is located on a very quiet, deadend street surrounded by pine trees. The only sound is the rolling creek in the backyard. The interior is cozy. And Lassen is in the backyard!

In attempt to add different variety of comments than below (which are all true): I enjoyed the mix of country and modern decor, listening to music, watching old movies, relaxing in the jacuzzi tub, the comfortable beds, reading National Geographic (I am a spelunker and there was perfect article for me), reading the history of the area. I enjoyed the peace and quiet the most. The home is beautiful inside and out. I enjoyed making a fire in the back pit while watching the stars and listening to the rapids of the creek. A perfect stay. Don't change a thing.

My husband and I just enjoyed three fantastic nights at this cottage. The pictures do not do this place justice. It was clean and absolutely gorgeous. It really felt like home. We cannot wait to come back. The hosts provide so many conveniences for their guests. The nearest store is about ten miles away so finding a spice rack and eggs was a pleasant surprise when I went to cook dinner. A loaf of homemade bread with delicious homemade marmelade greeted us, cold mugs and wine glasses were in the freezer, a few Sierra Nevada beers were in the fridge, charcoal was provided for the grill, firewood was provided for the campfire, a beautiful jacuzzi tub w bubble bath, and the upstairs loft was absolutely gorgeous. I have stayed at cabins before where the hosts provide very little for their guests but, this cabin had everything you could possibly need. It truly was a relaxing experience and we really enjoyed hiking to Bumpass Hell. This place went above and beyond our expectations. We absolutely loved it! - Elizabeth and Christian

This is indeed one of the most beautiful vacation homes I ever stayed! The house is very nice, both from outside and inside. The creek in the back yard is very nice and my kids enjoy it very well. The patios and the campfire place are very atrractive. The house is nicely decorated and kids enjoy the loft. The proximity to the Lassen park is an added plus. Another attraction, I loved, was the trout pond nearby and I got an average of 10 trouts a day!

A great base from which to enjoy visiting Lassen, Hat Creek, etc. What a treat - we were struck by the lack of commercial development in the area -bet you'd have to go 50 miles to find a Starbucks! That said, this cabin is perfect for those with more urban sensibilites. It's clean, well stocked, and situated up a quiet lane which backs to a beautiful creek. Vacation $$$s go far in this corner of Northern California. If you are not inclined to camp or backpack, I doubt you will find anything more appealing within easy reach of the Park. Hope to go back again - we still have to summit Lassen!

I think the best complement I can make is "We can't wait to go back"! Many have already shared about how wonderful the cottage is and that the owners could not be any more helpful or generous with the care and comfort of their guest...and I agree! May I add that the short drive off the main road takes you to a dead end where there is only 2 homes beyond the cottage and we never saw anyone at these residents. It was so very peaceful and refreshing to the spirit. Rebecca is so attentive that there was even a new tooth brush and tooth past, just in case you forget yours. Go easy on the bubble bath or you will find yourself chin deep in white froth!

Rebecca, We truly enjoyed staying at your place, and appreciated everything from the fresh-baked bread upon our arrival, to the luxurious bath tub, to the great backyard, and the extra steps to you took to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. Yours was one of the all time best places in which we've ever had the pleasure of staying. My only fear in writing this great review is that too many people will discover your great place, making it too difficult for us to re-book the next time we want to stay there!
Owner response:We appreciate your comments and will always try to make room for your family, Thanks!

This was the perfect location to get away from it all. We could not have asked for a more restful and beautiful place to spend our vacation. We enjoyed our dinners on the back deck, our bonfire by the river and the jacuzzi tub! We were close to Lassen National park and many other great family day trips. We truly wished that we had booked another night! Rebecca, Bob and their pets "the girls" are the perfect host and we could see the love they have for this quiet part of California. Thank you and we hope to be back for another visit soon.

My lady and I spent a fabulous week at the house. The house is just lovely. We spent time reading books on the patio listening to the creekâs murmur. It is a small creek but there are lots of Rainbow and Brook trout, some of which we cooked for dinner. Minutes of driving got us to the Lassen national forest where we had so much fun including getting to the peak of Mt. Lassen. The whole experience at the house and in the Lassen area was such a good treat. Thank you Rebecca and Bob!

My family had a wonderful time during our June 2009 stay at this property. The home is clean and well-kept with lots of nice touches. Appliances are new or like-new condition. The owners are SUPER hosts. They made sure all our needs were met while honoring our privacy. We enjoyed meeting them as much as anything. We plan to stay again on our next visit to Lassen.

Me and my family (along with my parents) had been there during sep-08. It was the best vacation homes I stayed so far. If you love nature and serenity nothing to beat this. My 2 yr old kid spent almost all the time near the creek on the backyard. The home was cozy. A perfect patio for a barbeque party. The night we took a small walk under the moon light amidst the pines, just you and nature..nothing in between. We could hear some animals shouting in the middle of the night..I wanted to get a glimpse of it but my torch wasn't powerful enough...must be a coyote. I wanted to go there again this time with my camera ready for some good shots. The other beatiful part of this home is its approach road. You'd see lots of deer on the way to this. Bottomline is if you want to get away from the daily chores of city life and see how it feels like living in a *mini* forest, this beats everything else. This was very close to the entrance of Lassen park and in the middle of many other attractions, so you don't waste any time on travelling to these places too during the day. So if you like scenic drives, waterfalls, lakes, hikes, ski....and want to make your evenings/stay equally memorable this is what I would vote for ..especially within just 4-5 hrs of drive from the bay area.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words. We live here full year round and appreciate the beauty and peace & quiet.
