This was our first visit to big island and we stayed at Hali'i Kai. It definitely exceeded our expectations! The condo was beautiful and location is perfect. There were absolutely NO disappointments. The condo was well equipped with snorkel gear, cooler, bags, towels, chairs, boogie board as advertised and top notch at that. It made the trips to the beach much more comfortable. There is an Ocean Club at the pool area where the staff was very personable, made you feel at home and knew how to make a great drink! And if you didn't feel like venturing out, the food was very good also. Ken is very accommodating and couldn't be more pleasant to work with. We would definitely, without question, stay here again and again. Thanks Ken.

This was my first time staying on the Big Island. The condo itself was very nice, and the location (next to the pool) was very convenient. But because of the lava, you are not really waterfront and there is no beach immediately accessible from your location without driving (you can walk 30 minutes to A-bay, which we did on several occasions, but most people would not want to do that). That said, the listing photos and description accurately depict the property so we knew what we were getting when we booked. Property was well maintained and clean and the facilities (pool, restaurant and bar, plus workout facility) were very nice. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and the BBQ at the unit was nice as we cooked many of our own meals.
Owner response:Glad you had a good time at our place, and thanks for the review. As to the 'waterfront', our Ocean Club sits right next to our condo building and on the ocean front--with views that are unmatched! We do sometimes swim and snorkel from the lava rock just below the Ocean Club--but you are right about the beach access--it's A Bay or a short drive to some of our favorite, most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. We are a surfing and beach-loving family; but we find that our Ocean Club is so nice that we spend most of our time there enjoying this facility: pool, views, work-out room, cafe, bar, BBQ's, etc. Come see us again!

It doesn't get any better than this. This was our first visit to big island but we have stayed all over other HI islands, in other condos, in 5 star resorts, and this one is the best we have ever stayed in. Plus as far as we could tell, we had THE best views and the most space out of all other units on the property. The dramatic high ceiling is just missing a nice wooden ceiling fan to complete the look. And the guest bath upstairs could use a shampoo rack and a swimsuit hook on the door, but that's it, those are my only tiny suggestions. Everything else exceeded expectations in every way. The beds and couch - super comfy! Even the grass on the property is comfy, it's like you are floating around in paradise. Ken is awesome and super accommodating. We stayed with a large group for a wedding and rented several units and after this, he will be getting phone calls from all of my relatives!
Owner response:Thanks, Ursula. So glad you enjoyed the condo and resort. We appreciate the business and look forward to hosting your family again soon. Aloha...

We actually stayed here in November of 2010, but I am just getting to my review. First off, beautiful condo that is well decorated and has it all. Very clean! Kitchen has all you need. Both lanais were perfect to watch sunset into the water each night (or moon shining if you're up that late) Location is perfect if you are staying in this complex as it is right next to the pool and club area. Kids loved the pool(1 year old and 4 year old) as well as all of us enjoying the sand bottom spa (great on your feet after a long day of fun). We had a few cocktails at the club and it was a great place to end the day or just relax. Owner Ken is one of the best I've worked with. Had a few issues that he handled quickly and professionally (washer went out one day, fixed same day). Nothing major other than that. Short walk to amazing Hilton grounds where you can swim with the dolphins. No beach access is not a big deal. 5 minute drive to our favorite beach Hapuna that we spent at least two full days at. Other great beaches very short drive as well. Shopping close and excellent. This will be your best value in the area for a high end 3 bedroom, location near ocean and the pool. ( I looked at a lot of places). Should we come back to the big island this would be the first place I would look to stay. It felt like home.
Owner response:Thank you for staying with us--and glad you had fun. Please come back soon...Ken

The Hali'i Kai was a great place to stay. Upon entering the unit we instantly felt like we were at home. Kick off your shoes and step into the beautifully furnished condo. Everything was neat and clean; just like the photos. We visited many beautiful beaches and sites throughout the island but at the end of the day the kids would ask, "When will we be going back to condo?" This place is a beautiful and peaceful retreat. So close to the Ocean Club and the pool. We fell asleep and woke up to the sounds of the ocean waves. The owner was very helpful and pointed out some great places that were a 'must' to visit (thanks a bunch!). We would definitely rent this unit again when we return to the Big Island!

I travel a bit for work and pleasure and rarely write reviews but after spending a week at this incredible condo I couldn’t recommend it more. Pictures truly do not do this resort justice. It is a gorgeous place and the grounds are meticulous. The Ocean Club is a great place to go to relax. There’s nothing quite like sitting by the pool overlooking the ocean watching the sunsets. Also the staff from the front desk to the Ocean Club could not have been nicer or more helpful. As for the condo itself I can’t imagine a nicer, or better-located one in the entire complex. There were six of us staying there (all adults) and we had plenty of space. The furnishings are top notch, the views from the lanais are breathtaking, and the location is perfect as it’s very close to the Ocean Club. Dealing with Ken from start to finish was as easy as it gets. He was very responsive to emails and was always pleasant. Everyone in my family is already talking about going back to Hawaii and if so we would ensure we picked a week when this condo was available.

I stayed here in April on a family trip. The condo itself is sparkling clean and even more spacious than it looks in the pictures. We all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms! The breeze that comes through makes it the perfect temperature and the view is beautiful! The common pool is so relaxing.....really a very prestine property. It is a short walk to the Hilton which is a wonderful place to wander around, enjoy the pools, and the many amenities it has to offer. The property owner was wonderful to work with! You will be pleased with this condo!! i couldn't be happier. Shaila Lake Geneva Wisconsin

We just left the Hali 'i Kai to finish up our vacation at a very lovely/seriously swanky hotel. Uhmm, we miss 12G! We loved our week at the condo and cannot wait to come back. Everything is as described, the pictures are exactly what you see upon entering your home away from home. The views from both lanai's are fabulous, pool is great, and workout room beautifully situated. And we had about a gazillion whales spouting, flipping and tale slapping every morning as we worked out. Pretty decent motivation to get your buns out of bed and get to the gym. Just make a reservation and go!

We just got back from spending a week at this unit and it was spectacular...we loved it! The location is perfect, the views gorgeous, the unit is spacious, clean, upgraded and in great shape -- it felt like home. And those trained whales breaching and playing right in front of us as we sipped happy hour mai tai's next door at the Ocean Club? Nice touch!!! I don't think we'll ever stay at a hotel again. Not when we can get the perfect "home" at the same price. We WILL be back! Laura

12G is a beautiful condo, in a picturesque location. It feels like your staying at a country club on the beach. We truly enjoyed our stay, the condo had the most wonderful view from both levels, but we really enjoyed the view from the master suite. Since I was traveling with my 2 children and my parents it was so nice to have 3 bedrooms on 2 levels, we were really enjoyed all the space. Being right next to the pool and the trail to the Hilton was so great, it was about a 2 minute walk. We highly recommend 12G to anyone, and Ken was so helpful and just a pleasure to work with!

We found the accommodation absolutely first class with the condo having everything we needed. With it being so close to the clubhouse, my brother and husband barbequed every night and always came back with stories on who they had met. The trade winds kept the place very cool and a few evenings we had to close the windows as the winds were very strong. We found our way around the resort by walking everywhere as the location of the condo was great. We could walk the beach past all three Hilton hotels and the Marriott to a beautiful public beach. Saw everything on the island: the volcanos, mauna Kea summit, kayaking, snorkelling, beaches. recommend a night at Volcano as it is just to far for a day trip. Hopefully we can go back to the big island and stay in your condo next year. Thanks for helping us make our vacation memorable.

Our family stayed at the condo the week of July 26 - 31st. WOW!! What an amazing and beautiful condo and the views are spectacular. The condo is model home gorgeous and the furnishing are very comfy. Unlike most other units in the complex, ours (12G) had both golf course and ocean views. What a joy to wake up to such spectacular views every morning and then to further enjoy them on the privacy of the lanai. We had several sight seeing things planned, but found that we loved the condo so much that we ended up staying there most days. We had lunch and dinner at the Ocean Club and it was wonderful. I highly recommend the Chicken Ceasar Salad and the homemade fries. We were just a short walk from the Hilton which is very nice, but also very crowded. We couldn't wait to get back to our quiet and relaxing condo. Ken was such a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. He returned calls and e-mails very quickly and answered any and all questions/concerns that we had. Ken contacted us during our trip to make sure all was well and to give us some tips and ideas on sight seeing. He also stayed in contact after we arrived back home to make sure everything met our needs and expectations. We definitly want to come back again next year...it's paradise!!!

We will be hard pressed to find another rental condo as nice as Hali’i Kai 12G the next time we travel. A new, beautifully appointed full 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo steps away from a small, intimate pool and the ocean was perfect for us. To top that, it is well located in the perennially sunny section of the island -- a perfect distance from every sight we wanted to see on our vacation. Unit 12G has new furniture, linens and kitchen items, as well as granite counter tops, Plasma TVs, internet (wifi and broadband), a full laundry room, and was sparkling clean. During the days, we had views from the main floor and second floor master bedroom lanais of palm trees with golf course greens to the left and the ocean horizon to the right. In the evenings, we sank into the living room’s oversized and plush couch and chairs. The unit was spacious and open (the living room is two stories high) so the ceiling fans and ocean breeze cooled it and we had no need for its AC. HK 12G’s location just around the corner from the clubhouse meant our two teens could walk in and out on their own at their leisure (and we could check up on them without much effort or notice) and it made BBQing at the clubhouse a breeze – just a 1 minute walk over with plates, meat and salads. A 10 minute walk further ocean side took us to the Hilton resort with its Dolphin pools, restaurants and evening activities. Hali’i Kai is quiet and intimate – no living room or master suite windows looking into others’ units and it is at the end of the Waikoloa Resort Road/ocean front which gives it a small exclusive resort feel. Its pool is multi-level/free form/ black bottomed with lava rocks overlooking the ocean and often we were the only ones in it. The pool area, adjacent to an open air restaurant and BBQ area, gave us the choice of cooking or being cooked for in front of an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean and its sunsets. We had a long list of things we wanted to see during our week on the island but, because the unit and facilities were so nice, the kids wanted to sleep in and begged to stay at the pool. So, as it turned out, we ended up vacationing at Hali’i Kai as much as we did elsewhere.Ken also was very nice when making the arrangements with us. He emailed us while we were there to see how our vacation was going and offered some “not in the tour book” tips of things to see. He even called after we returned home just to make sure we enjoyed our stay. It fel

We spent a week in this spectacular unit and didn't want to leave. The view/location is even better than we originally anticipated--whales breaching just offshore while we sat on the balcony enjoying breakfast. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We loved being adjacent to the ocean club and never wanted to leave it. We visited with some folks paying about the same to stay at the Hilton--they felt like prisoners in their little room while we had luxury space and a great kitchen as well. Very very good value. We'll be back!

We stayed here in March and loved it! Great proximity to the pool and amazing ocean view. Saw a whale breach from sitting on the couch. Decorated like a high-end hotel. Restaurant at the pool is great.
