1 hour from Naples Airport and 1 1/2 hours from Ft. Lauderdale Airport.
Excellent Fishing: Tarpon, snook, redfish, spotted sea trout, grouper, cobia, Spanish mackerel, permit, pompano hammerhead shark and, Everglades City is the Stone Crab and Blue Crab capital of Florida.
Bird watching: Bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, great horned owls, great crested fly catchers, white crowned pigeons, white & brown pelicans to list a few.
Nature: Rare wild orchids, bromeliads, mangrove swamp, giant cypress, amazing sunsets.
Enjoy airboat rides and swamp buggies in the everglades or a double deck boat ride into Everglades National Park with an evening meal if you choose.
Locally you have the Museum of Everglades City, Ted Smallwoods Store just south in Chokoloskee and several small galleries. And do not miss a trip to to Rod and Gun Club for lunch or dinner and leave plenty of time to immerse yourself in the past glory of Everglade.
