Swanson House-Island Vacation Home in the Bahamas
Year Purchased: 1984
Why the Owner Chose Green Turtle Cay
This has been our vacation home for almost 30 years. We have rented the cottage to vacationers for many years, and have recently decided to share "The Big House" as well.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Fishing, diving, and beach combing have been our great pleasure here for years, and there are experienced local guides for hire as well. Lately we are just as likely to enjoy relaxing on our three tropical acres, and the quaint village of New Plymouth is just a short walk or golf cart ride up the road. There one can find shops, a museum, and fine and casual dining. If you have a boat, or wish to rent one locally, our dock on Black Sound is available for your use.

The week I spent at Swanson House with my family and boyfriend was perfect. The house has all of the amenities that I thought I would need/want when I arrived (internet, satellite, DVD, etc) but that I couldn't have cared less about after a couple days. It was wonderful to disconnect and enjoy the ocean breeze while sitting one of the balconies reading, or walking the beach, or exploring the island in a golf-cart. With the super helpful staff at Swanson house there was nothing to worry about and always a friendly face if we had any questions. Scuba diving out on the reefs was incredible and being able to snorkel and fish just off the beach at the house was so convenient. The week was amazing and I often find myself daydreaming about being back under the Green Turtle sun when I am bogged down with work. I can't wait to go back.
Owner response:Thanks Katie, please come back soon!

Our stay on Green Turtle Cay was everything I could have dreamed of! The island is just the way I remembered it and the Swanson House made the visit even better. It is on a secluded stretch of beach with snorkeling right of the beach. The photos don't do the house justice. The house has all the amenities you could possibly need and we had a great time creating meals in the 'chefs kitchen'. The fishing and diving were outstanding, and the boat dock makes all those activities so convenient. Patricia was a breath of fresh air. She was available for any questions or to help out finding things. I would return again as soon as I am able! .
Owner response:Thank you, Randy. Come back soon!

I spent a week here with my family this past summer. It is a beautiful house at a beautiful location. It is very comfortable and homey. The different accommodation options on the property gave us plenty of space. It is close to the little town of New Plymouth and the ferry will drop you off right at the private dock. Everyone around is very friendly and helpful. Right off the beach behind the house, there is a little good snorkeling and you can pick up a few conchs right there. I'd recommend staying for a week to sink into island time while still having time for venturing out snorkeling, diving, and fishing.
Owner response:Thanks, Ben. We are looking forward to your next visit!

What a great escape! The Swanson's (and staff)are gracious hosts that make your stay in Treasure Cay everything it should be! Beautiful property with a beach that is fantastic for snorkeling, shells, swimming and RELAXING! My 8 yr old daughter especially liked snorkeling off the beach and the golf cart rides to "town" for ice cream. The town is quaint but had everything we needed...including homemade bahamian bread. A must have, for sure! We thoroughly enjoyed our getaway to this remote destination and hope to be back soon. Thank You!!!
