Two-story porches grace the front of this dynamic house Custom Designed for your comfort by Richard Vesely. You will enter a tiled, light filled two-and-a-half story high Entrance Hall with a Grand Staircase, and French Chandelier. Ascending the stairs, you'll be delighted along the way by the views to the water from three towering windows, or take the convenient windowed Elevator to the Living Level on the Upper Floor.

Arriving in the Great Room, You're sure to notice the ravishing Brazilian Tigerwood flooring, but your eye (and your heart) will quickly be drawn to what you're here for; the sweeping views of Sun-Diamonds dancing on the azure waters of Chincoteague Bay. Stunning, simply stunning!

The huge, high ceilinged Greatroom allows everyone to be together in comfort. While some gather around the large screen plasma TV on the Fireplace Wall, One or two may prepare drinks at the Carrara Marble beverage center.

The spacious tile-floored kitchen with it's Cherry Cabinets, and Granite Counter Tops is sure to be a popular spot ... Plenty of room to pitch-in for Cocktail Hour Canapes or prepare a delicious supper of Fresh Seafood purchased at the Town Dock.

Everyone will gravitate to the welcoming French Country Dining Table centered under the gentle glow of the Provincial Iron Chandelier. Notice, too, how the Dining Area floor of Mexican Travertine is set into the Brazilian Tigerwood.

While the house has two climate Control Systems, there will be days when you will want to open the French Doors leading from the Dining Area to the columned Gazebo-in-The-Sky ... Outdoor relaxation sublime high above the Sparkling Waters. Here, it's likely you will linger (probably everyday) while the sky turns indescribable shades of Magenta and Crimson-Orange as the timeless sun descends into the Welcoming Bay.

At the end of your day On Assateague Island's pristine Ocean Beach (or perhaps you climbed to the top of the Lighthouse?) you'll be ready to enjoy a great night's rest in Your Private Quarters on the Main Floor. Because there are two Richly Carpeted Master Suites, Each with king-size bed, Granite Top Make-Up vanity, Walk in closet, Full tiled Bathroom with Separate Tub and Walk in Tile Shower, perhaps there won't be any trouble over "Who-Gets-To-Sleep-Where".

A word about the bathrooms, One has a large Kohler Soaking Tub, One has a Kohler Whirlpool Tub for Two. Did we mention that each of these suites has a Private Balcony over the Water?

There's a room with Twin Beds, and an ensuite bath with waterview window in the Shower, also on the Mainfloor. Another spacious Kingsize Waterview Bedroom with an attached bath is on the Great Room Level.

Up an intriguing Spiral Stair from the Great Room level is the Tower-Hide-Away with Two Additional twin beds, just right for the young, and the young-at-heart. (Tower shares bath on Great Room Level).

On the Ground Level there's an Elevator Entrance handy for handling luggage and bringing in the groceries. And the elevator makes all floors Handicapped Accessible. Also on the ground level you'll find a shaded patio with picnic table and Weber Charcoal Grill for larger Cook-Outs (There is a Gas Grill on the Gazebo upstairs, But we still love the Real Charcoal Flavor.)

There's more, But come and discover the rest of the pleasures yourself. ENJOY!!!!!!

Owner's Map of Chincoteague

Owned by Richard Vesely and Timothy Hackler. The Moorings is located where once stood an old mill from the early 1900's. The property was purchased by Richard, and the old mill was saved and moved in 1989 across Main Street to what is now Old Mill Lane. The Moorings was custom designed by Richard, and tastefully furnished and decorated by Timothy.
We love the location; enjoying the boat traffic in the channel, the incredible sunsets, walking and biking distance to the quaint downtown shops, and nature trails. It's our piece of paradise on the island.

We had a delightful time in Chincoteague! I have been going there for many, many years and this is a hidden jewel on the island. Beautiful views! Kitchen was wonderful! Plan on going next year if at all possible in the same house!

Owner response:Thank you so much. Our happy repeat guests are the BEST! Don't wait too long to make your reservation for next year.

A Great Place to Relax

Guest: Celeste (Pa.)
Date of Stay: 09/28/11 Review Submitted: 10/05/11

We are a group of 4 couples who have been coming to Chincoteague Island every September for the past 20 plus years. We watched this home being built and were delighted to find it was a rental property. And even more delighted after staying there. We just returned from our third year staying at Moorings North. There is nothing "not" to like from the spacious and private bedrooms and baths to the gourmet kitchen where we enjoy preparing dinners and relaxing in the great room. The sunset views from the gazebo are simply spectacular. This year we had the pleasure of meeting the owners and would just like to say "thank you" Timothy and Richard for creating a little slice of heaven on Chincoteague Island.

Owner response:Thank you so very much for your kind words. We truly do appreciate our guests, especially repeat guests as yourselves. It was so very nice meeting you as well. We don't often get the opportunity to personally meet our guests as we don't want to intrude. Thank you again for your loyalty, and we look forward to seeing you again next September!

KICK BACK

Guest: soltura (Nashville, TN)
Date of Stay: 09/11/11 Review Submitted: 09/30/11

Guest: Linda B. (Nashville, TN) Date of Stay: 09/11/11 My family and I were searching for a quiet, relaxing spot to re-energize ... and WOW! did we ever find it at The Moorings North. The configuration of the house was perfect for our family, and the elevator made unloading and loading so easy and convenient. The house was comfortable, clean, beautifully furnished, and the kitchen is better equipped than mine at home; certainly not your typical "beach" house. My husband and sons caught three flounder right off the bulkhead in back of the house. We enjoyed watching the gorgeous sunsets over Chincoteague Bay from the porch right off the main living area. The island is very family friendly. It's like stepping back in time. We're already planning to come back next year.

Owner response:Linda, we're delighted to learn you had such a great time during your stay at The Moorings North. I'm sure those flounder you caught made for a great dinner! Don't wait too long to book your reservation for next year as weeks are beginning to fill up already. Thank you again for choosing The Moorings North, and I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding your plans for next year.

An Ideal "Mooring" (Comfortable Elegance with a "killer view")

Guest: Lois (New Hampshire)
Date of Stay: 05/14/11 Review Submitted: 05/26/11

The Moorings North was the ideal vacation spot for my family's ( 5 sisters plus 2 nieces) biennial "girls' vacation." The comfortably elegant style, decor and perfect location on the water of Chincoteague Bay more than lived up to the description and photos on the website. The modern, well-equipped kitchen, luxurious suites and the four beautifully appointed baths were appreciated by our group of seven "mature" women...to say nothing of the (easy to use) elevator to bring up (too much) luggage, food and drink! While we enjoyed exploring the area - antiquing, walking the Ocean City boardwalk, hiking the local trails, viewing the islands from the water on a "Daisey cruise", shopping on Main Street, savoring the local seafood at Bill's or The Village, touring Assateague Island on the Chincoteague Natural History Museum wildlife tour (with its many photo ops of the famous ponies "up close and personal") and even climbing the Asseteague Light... when it was time to leave we all wished we had spent more time at Moorings North on our own "private" decks or in the "gazebo in the sky." This is our eighth "girls vacation" and we have rented in various spots in Maine, Cape Cod and Outer Banks and have loved the houses we found; none, however, had a better location and most were not as beautiful and comfortable as Moorings North. We like to explore different areas so we may not be back to Chincoteague Island soon; however, if ever we do I will not have to waste any time searching for the ideal spot!

Owner response:I am so happy that you ladies enjoyed your visit to our island, and especially pleased to know you enjoyed your stay at The Moorings North. It was truly a pleasure having you all. Some guests are more memorable than others, and you certainly fit into that category. Have fun on your next "girls vacation" where ever you may choose to go, but always know you're welcome back anytime.

Fantastic Stay!

Guest: Supper Club (Rock Hill, South Carolina)
Date of Stay: 04/16/11 Review Submitted: 04/25/11

"Wow!" was the word of the day after we rode up the elevator and entered your beautiful home! The pictures on the website do not do the home justice. The common area upstairs sticks out over the water and, because of the wall of windows, you feel like you are on a cruise ship with your own private view of the water. We found the house to be perfectly clean and all of the bedrooms were great. The two master suites were really nice for us since we had two couples on the trip. Having our own porch for each suite on the water was a real treat and the master bathrooms were spa quality! The only problem we had was helping the kids figure our who would get to sleep in the "tower room." Just about every room in the house has a view of the water. The home is located in a great place to ride bicycles to the end of the island of downtown to shop. Be sure to visit Assateague Island and the National Seashore, which are merely minutes away. Fresh seafood and great recreation are only a short walk from the home. All in all, our family said it was one of our favorite places we have been and one of our favorite houses we have rented. Thanks for the opportunity and for the memories we have created because of your great home.

Owner response:We are so thrilled you, your family and guests enjoyed your stay at The Moorings North on Chincoteague Island, Virginia. We're proud of our little island by the sea, and we're so happy to be able to offer our guests the unique accomodations of The Moorings North. Please plan to come back soon. We're always exceptionally pleased to welcome our previous guests. Tell your friends about us!

We spent a week at this beautiful vacation house. We just returned home yesterday and already planning to come back next year! Very beautiful house, breathtaking view in the living room, the photos on your website does not do the justice, it is a LOT BETTER than we expect! Very equipped and CLEAN house. We feel like home at your place! We spent good time exploring the island: fishing, biking, BBQ, Beach, etc etc. Thank you so much for letting us to stay at your place, we SURE will be back next year!!

Owner response:So very happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay at The Moorings North and Chincoteague Island. I saw the children catching some crabs off the bulk head. Wonderful Sunsets

Guest: Paul S. (Harrisburg, PA)
Date of Stay: 06/27/10 Review Submitted: 07/05/10

We (my daughters and their families) really did enjoy your house and our week on Chincoteague Island. We have been visiting Chincoteague for over 30 years, and this is by far the nicest house we have visited. Chincoteague and Assateague are great places for a family to bike and enjoy the beach. We plan to be back in 2012! Thanks for the lovely accomodations. It took me several years to realize that Main Street/Chincoteague Channel is the only place to stay. Absolutely wonderful sunsets!

Owner response:We're so glad you, your daughters and their families enjoyed your stay. It's always so nice to have guests who have been coming to the island for such a long time. We absolutely agree with you about our location. We think it's the best on the island. It's quiet, yet close enough to our quaint downtown shops to walk or bike, and the most beautiful sunsets. Thank you for choosing The Moorings North as your vacation rental house, and we'll look for you in 2012.
