Available early June! Bring your boat and dock it at the back yard deep water dock with fish cleaning table, power outlet and running water. The kids will also enjoy fishing or dropping the crab pot off the dock, playing on the tree swing or using the basket ball hoop and lawn games.
Watch the boats come and go from the bright sun room or while lounging in one of two shady hammocks near the water. Or you can enjoy the view while riding the cottage bikes to the nearby store. Go for long walks on the beach or travel by boat to visit Cape Lookout, spot the ponies at Shackleford Banks, or enjoy the aquarium, museums, waterfront shopping and dining in Beaufort, Morehead City, Swansboro or Atlantic Beach.

Surrey Cottage is an exceptional waterfront home ideally situated off the Bogue Sound/ICW on the North Carolina Crystal Coast close to Morehead City, Beaufort, Atlantic Beach and Havelock/Cherry Point. Military families - this is a great holiday getaway for your family reuion. The house is ideal for large family reunions and well positioned to enjoy the local attractions and shops, cinema and outdoor activities. Longer stays are also available for executive/military accommodation off season.
Watch the boats come and go as you sip cocktails in the sun room, while relaxing in the hammocks near the dock or dining under a shady tree. There are two Webber grills for front or back outdoor dining. The enclosed outdoor shower is convenient for a quick cool down or to rinse off after a day on the boat or at the beach. A separate laundry/utility room with washer/dryer and iron/ironing board keeps sandy towels out of the way.
This is not your average rental! You will find unexpected luxury and plenty of space at an affordable price. Surrey Cottage has been updated with tasteful 'international coastal' furnishings and fixtures, including hand woven Indonesian chairs, plush leather couches, oriental rugs and quality bedding.
All bedrooms have queen beds and are comfortably furnished with all necessities, including radio alarm clocks/IPod docking station and hair dryers. The luxurious master bath includes jetted tub and shower. A leather sleeper sofa in the living room sleeps two (queen size) and the sectional leather sofa in the family room converts to a second queen sleeper. There are a total of four TV/DVD/VCR combos and a pull-out computer center provides internet access with color printer and all necessary supplies. Wi-Fi is also included and there is a HiFi/CD player in the living room. A portable radio/CD player is available for outdoor use.
This elegant 'home away from home' is unique in that the lawn leads to a private dock on a sheltered canal. Fish off the dock, or there is plenty of room on the front lawn to play volley ball, croquet or just lounge in the hammock. A basket ball hoop and swing are also included. Kayaks are available by arrangement to explore the waterways, and the quiet water view roads are ideal for walks or cycling on the cottage bikes. Nearby Beaufort also has miles of bike trails and boat rentals and boat tours are also available An extensive book, DVD, CD and board game collection is available to our guests in addition to volley ball and croquet.
The cottage is designed with two separate self contained 'suites', making it suitable for two families or for use as one home. All rooms have water views; one suite includes a large bedroom, bathroom, seperate outdoor access (via small porch/lania) and family room with breakfast bar/'kitchenette'. The second, larger suite includes kitchen, living/dining area, two bedrooms, sunroom and bathroom with shower and jetted tub, and can be seperated by the interleading door, if preferred.
This is a spacious retreat suitable for entertaining, with room for everyone to spread out and many options indoors and out. It is ideally situated to enjoy the best of the Crystal Coast away from the crowds and long term rentals are available out of season.
Surrey Cottage is in a great location for fishing, the beach and many water sports - in addition to antiquing, waterfront shopping and visiting the many attractions near popular Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, historic Beaufort and Emerald Isle. There are also several golf courses in Morehead City and surrounding areas for the golfers in your group. We are fortunate to have many returning guests who enjoy the tranquility and comfort of this idyllic spot.
The cottage kayaks are available by arrangement to tour the waterways and enjoy the sound views and bird life - or to spot dolphin if you are lucky! This is also an excellent location for wind surfing and sailing and is an ideal family getaway with bikes, tree swing and basket ball hoop.
Being within a short drive of the Cherry Point base in Havelock, NC and close to the Camp Lejeune base in Jacksonville, this upmarket waterfront home is a great choice to spend precious time at the coast with your military family and friends. This was my 4th visit to Surry Cottage and it will not be my last. Just as my previous experiences, we walked in to a clean, bright living environment with fresh linens, clean sheets and every thing you will need for a comfortable stay. We were offshore fishing all day on Saturday and it was so nice to come home to a hot shower and comfortable bed. Thanks again. I will be back!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family of four stayed here along with another family of four and it worked out perfectly. The layout is great with lots of living space. The yard is awesome - so much space to play for the kids and stuff to do with the swing, hammocks, fishing, and scootering on the flat driveway/street. We brought our friend's boat so having it in the backyard was so convenient. We will visit again!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway.

Loved, loved, loved the cottage! Would highly recommend this location to anyone staying in the area. Cottage was well maintained and so homey! Everything was accurately described on the posting as far as location, appearance, amenities, etc. I had no problems working with the owner & they made sure our stay was a pleasant experience. We were in town for my brother's wedding and 5 of us stayed at this house. It was perfect! My only regret was that we didn't have more time at the house because the wedding kept us so busy. Its on a beautiful spot on the water, and their are two awesome hammocks outside. Some family stayed in the house next door and it worked out so well. The house was very clean and neat and had everything we need. We also appreciated having access to things in the cabinet like Olive Oil. Honestly, I wish I could have stayed their another week because it was such a sweet little haven tucked away from everything but not far from anything at the same time. Thank you! and I highly reccommend this place to others!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We've rented this property 2 years running and working on the 3rd. It is an extremely relaxing place to stay. We take everything we need for the week and rarely leave (by car that is). Load the boat up everyday and head out to the islands. We love it!! It is very well equipped and extremely accomodating for our group of 9 that goes every year. The owners are also extremely easy to work with. Thank you so much Anita!!! Our stay at Surrey Cottage was wonderful. There was plenty of room for seven of us. The cottage is very spacious and very clean. The yard is huge and beautiful. My family and I will rent it for all future visits to Morehead. Also, the owner is very gracious and keeps you informed.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

This is the second time we have stayed at the cottage and we were just as impressed this time. Plenty of room, nice comfortable beds with fresh clean sheets. We hated to leave. The fishing was fantastic and the cleaning table on the dock was wonderful. Our family plans to spend our weeks vacation there next summer. Could not have dreamed of a nicer place to stay! The house had a nice backyard with table, chairs, recliners and 2 hammocks to enjoy the view and fresh air. Every morning we had breakfast in the sunroom while we made plans for the day the kitchen was well stocked with dishes,appliances and extra spices. We enjoyed admiring all of the decor and were surprised when we received a fruit welcome basket and a call from the owner making sure everything was ok. I highly recommend this house to everyone and we will return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time at the Surrey Cottage. The cottage was well furnished. The fact that the owner called to check to make sure that everything was to our liking was a pleasant surprise. I loved the location. We brought our 22' boat down for boat riding, traveling to Shackelford Banks, Cape Lookout, and other nearby islands. The guys dropped us off on the beaches while they fished. We saw a lot of dolphins playing in the channel between Shackelford Banks and Cape Lookout. They were so much fun to watch. We saw the beautiful horses on Shackelford Banks. We collected seashells and swam in the water. Our 25 year old daughter and her girlfriend used the kayaks and had a blast! Our son-in-law used a net and caught about 5 lbs of the most beautiful shrimp! We steamed them for supper and they were delicious! I hope that we will be able to come back again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

We were pleased to find all described was accurate. Everything was clean and felt like everything had just been set out for our arrival. We brought our boat and enjoyed having our own dock within minutes of the sound. We enjoyed fishing and visiting family during the day and some special nights out...we really enjoy The Ruddy Duck on the waterfront in MC. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

About the owner: After visiting the Crystal Coast for several years we purchased this property in 1997 to be close to our favorite locations; Beaufort, Morehead City and Atlantic Beach, and for immediate access to Bogue Sound for the great fishing and water sports. We love to travel and the boating neighborhood reminds us of some water communities in Europe. We enjoy family reunions here and some family guests travel from as far as the UK and Netherlands to take advantage of the peaceful waterfront setting. We joined VRBO for the first time in the summer of 09 and have enjoyed sharing our vacation home with other guests. We love to hear about their varied activities, and have even learned about some great attractions that we had overlooked, such as parasailing and horseback riding on the beach. We enjoy boat trips to Cape Lookout, Shackleford Island and other nearby sandbank islands for picnics on the boat, followed by swimming, shelling and sun bathing. We also travel by boat to the nearby waterfront shops and restaurants, and love the many street fairs and the live music on the waterfront. Cycling along the waterview roads to the local store for the morning paper is a great way to start the day and we like to kayak from our boat dock up and down Bogue Sound, enjoying the sunsets, bird life and waving to the boats passing by. We often see dolfin while in the kayaks or travelling in the boat. The cottage is suitable for young children, teenagers and adults. We love sharing this home with our guests and hope they will enjoy all the extra conveniences we have included to make this their own vacation home away from home.
Why the Owner Chose Morehead City:
We believe this is one of the best locations on the North Carolina coast, ideal for boating, sailing and fishing, close to the beautiful beaches and close to 'rainy day' activities such as movies and waterfront shopping. Jet skiing, kite surfing and wind surfing are also popular water sports. Parasailing and horseback riding on the beach are also available.
The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful while still being close to all the shops and points of interest.
