Douglas is an island located directly across from Juneau’s downtown. Gastineau Channel separates Douglas from mainland Juneau with a vehicle and pedestrian bridge connecting them. The city bus runs by our location three times a day and the Juneau area is well served by taxi service. If you have a rental car, there is off street parking right in front of the studio rental.
Douglas is a quaint town full of mining history related to the industrial origins of this prosperous region. Eateries on the island include the Douglas Café, a wonderful place for breakfast or lunch, and the Island Pub, a modern eatery with a bar, incredible view of downtown Juneau and local music on weekends. There are plenty more restaurants and bars in downtown Juneau and further North in the Lemon Creek and Mendenhall Valley areas. You can also get a birds-eye view of downtown and beyond by taking the cable tram to the top of Mt. Roberts. There is a restaurant, bar, visitor’s information, walking trails as well as edutainment about Juneau history, wildlife and culture.
Juneau/Douglas has miles and miles of beautiful hiking trails and is the home of the Mendenhall Glacier and visitor center. Many adventures are available through businesses serving the visitor industry. The Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau is a great resource in seeking out local activities.
The studio rental property is located 10 miles from the airport and only 3 miles from downtown. This studio is great for the active visitor or someone that doesn’t have enough room that need overflow housing for their own friends and family visiting in Juneau.

I work in Southeast Alaska as a Fisheries and Wildlife technician, so I am out and about a lot. I have lived here on and off since 1986 and me and my husband & son recently bought our house in 2008.
Why the Owner Chose Juneau
We LOVE Juneau and Douglas Island for all of the outdoor adventures so close by! We own a three story house on a private road in the forest, and the vacation rental apartment is on the bottom floor with a covered deck.
