Our stay during Christmas 2011 was very pleasant. The flat is lovely. We felt very much at home and had a great Christmas dinner. All is in place to cook for it and clean afterwards with a nice comfortable table and chairs to sit down and enjoy. And after a day of walking NY City it is nice to have a quiet neighborhood a warm shower and a good bed. We can recommend the close by International Beer Garden for affordable yummie food and a off course a beer.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our stay. The appartment was exactly as shown on the pictures. It was also very clean and well-maintained. Joycelyn and Norbert were helpful in answering concerns.The appartment is close to the subway and the area was nice. I defintively would recommand Harlem Flat.

During our first family visit to NYC we stayed for a week in the apartment of the Harlem Flat. This was by far one of the best experiences we had in apartment rentals. From the first e-mail contact to the last goodbye Joycelyn, the owner, proved herself as a perfect, friendly and pleasant hostess. She was always there when you needed her but she was never pushy. The fully equipped apartment (with use of the garden) provided us with all the necessaries to complete our stay. The location is perfect to explore Manhattan (by foot, subway or bus) and because of the short distance to make a stroll to and through Central Park. The district (Harlem Central) in which the apartment is located is very authentic and we always felt secure and safe in this neighborhood. There are sufficient convenient stores to buy your grocery’s or other necessities. A subway station around the corner is like the gateway to NYC. We enjoyed sipping our espresso in the early morning sun, our morning runs in Central Park and exploring NYC to the fullest, thanks to Joycelyn and her Harlem Flat. We’ll be back!

A real find! the harlem flat was just perfect; a home away from home and a wonderful respite from the madness of the Big Apple! The kids really enjoyed the outdoor space and we grown ups enjoyed the patio and wine. We will be back.

The flat was a great base for our travels in and out of NYC but the biggest revelation was Harlem itself. We enjoyed having the flat as a base - going out in the morning for croissants or bagels or eating our just before starting the day. Easy subway travel downtown and also uptown to the Cloisters museum in the park by the river. Lovely flat really added to the pleasure of the trip.

What a find! First of all, if you don't mind a few steps, its only a 10 minute walk to Morningside Heights. Second, we had a grand time exploring this splendid neighborhood and enjoying the good food to be had here. More important, the flat provided a wonderful base of operations and respite at the end of the day. It was terrific to have use of the very nice kitchen and to be able to do laundry. Everything was quite comfortable and nicely appointed. Thank you!

We could not have enjoyed our time in New York as much as we did if we had stayed anywhere else but the one and only HARLEM FLAT!!! The Harlem Flat is a hidden gem that hopefully won't stay hidden form too long. In this big, beautiful city, you made us feel warm and welcome.
