La Solatia is located in a quaint, incredibly charming medieval town in San Gusmè, just 20 km from the center of Siena and 70 km from Florence. It is in the heart of a village surrounded by a 12th century wall. During your stay you will be transcended by the hospitality and authenticity of the local people who are happy to share with you their traditional lifestyle. You will rarely find a car inside the village so you can enjoy the peace and tranquility while having an afternoon aperitif or just letting your children play in the main piazza.
San Gusmè is conveniently located near some of Tuscany’s most treasured towns (i.e., Montelpulciano, Pienza, San Gimignano) and near many wineries and castles just begging you to stop and enter into the amazing world of winemaking.
The apartment is owned by a young Italian-American couple who enjoy and appreciate the beauty of Tuscany and have become passionate about sharing everything Tuscany has to offer with others.
The apartment has two bedrooms, one bathroom and a living room with kitchen area. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and the 2nd bedroom is a bit smaller with a double bed. There is also a pull-out couch that sleeps one and a fireplace. The kitchen has all modern amenities. There are also two restaurants and a small grocery store inside the town.

Why the Owner Chose San GusmeWhen Massi was researching his thesis, he lived in an apartment in San Gusmè and loved every day of that year. He brought me there often for dinner or drinks and I got to know the town and the people. Therefore, we jumped on the opportunity to buy our apartment so we could share our love with others.
The Unique Benefits at this ApartmentSince we live in another place that we do not own, this apartment is our opportunity to create a really authentic and special space. Each part of the apartment, from the custom built kitchen to the handmade desk (by Massi!) was designed by us so we hope this transcends to our guests.
Owner's Map of San Gusme
Our family consists of my husband, Massimiliano and our son Joshua. Massi and I met when I was traveling in Italy in 2002 and a friend introduced us. I fell in love with Massi and then Italy in no time! Massi is from Pisa and is an agronomist. He loves the country and nature and I am from New York and lived in New York city before meeting Massi. I was working on Wall Street and rarely ate pasta and cheese and meat. Suffice it to say, my life has changed drastically and I couldn't be happier. Our son is a great combination of all of our passions!

The Perfect Place To Stay In Tuscany

My husband and I recently went to Italy for our honeymoon. We visited Rome and Florence, but by far, the best time we had was staying in San Gusme at this apartment. The town is charming and away from the crowds and other tourists. It was so nice to get away from the hustle of the cities. The apartment is adorable, super clean, and located in the heart of San Gusme, overlooking a Piazza. It was the perfect setting. From here, we were able to visit wineries, San Gimigniano, Sienna, and many other towns in the Chianti region, which are a short driving distance. I would definitely recommend a stay here to friends and family. We definitely plan to stay here when we return to Italy.

We had the pleasure of staying here in late May. The apartment is exactly as described, well furnished and equipped, large, bright and immaculate, as is the building. The village is tiny, charming, spotlessly clean, and quiet except for church bells and conversations down in the square. It boasts two or three small restaurants, a small store, and a church, on a little hill smack in the middle of the Chianti countryside . It looks exactly as you would imagine a tiny Italian village should look. If it has as many as 100 inhabitants I would be surprised. There are no vehicles allowed inside the walls. If you intend to stay there and go anywhere else, you absolutely need a car. There is a convenient parking area right outside the walls, about two minutes from the apartment (or anyplace else in the village). The owners live nearby and will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. They know the region intimately. Jaimi is American, married to Massi, an Italian. They should put their pictures on the site- they are very photogenic, lovable people.

We stayed in this charming apartment and loved it! The owners arranged to meet us with the key and gave me a great introduction to the apartment and our home village - San Gusme for the week. The apartment was clean and beautiful with a great kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and fireplace. The bedroom and bathroom were just right for two people. We could have had guests in the extra room as well. The views overlook a beautiful square. A wonderful restaurant located here also, just in the square with wonderful wines from Chianti and one the best meals I had in Tuscany! It was the perfect place to hub for visits to wine country and the little hilltowns of Tuscany. We loved it. An authentic and beautiful place that you would never find in the guidebooks!
