We really enjoyed our stay! The place is very well laid out and everything was wonderful! Just a short distance from the beautiful beach......Make sure you take plenty of bug spray for the "no-see-ums" in the evening hours. The screened-in porch was a very nice place to relax.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: I'm so glad y'all had a good time! Thank you for choosing us as your home away from home! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you in the future! Jeremie

we loved staying at this house, it is a bit of a drive to gulf shores though and we didnt find out till our last day that you can go to the beach the was right across the street, there are house all along the beach and we figured that it wasn't for the public, but any how we still loved it. for our next time we know that we can go right across the street! the house is equiped with everything you need to prepare a dinner. we didnt have much of a problem with the bugs because it was a bit rainy but we did have a few bites. the beds are very comfy, i even forgot to look at the mattress to see what kind it was because it was so comfy! jeremy was great!! we will be returning next year!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The rental of the unit at The Rookery went very well. The unit was very nice and 5 minutes from the beach. The small pool was used several times and was clean. No surprises and the leasing agent was very efficient in handling the details.Owner response: We appreciate your business Mrs. Gloria! So glad your family had a good time!

We enjoyed our vacation so much! The kids loved the fact that there were 2 pools that they could walk to. The beach across the street was great as well! I think our favorite part of the house was the screened in porch! We enjoyed having a glass of wine and feeling the breeze without getting attacked by the bugs! The bugs were not bad except for when the sun went down!! Beds are comfy and the house was super clean! Washer and dryer was a definite plus because with 5 kids, we were constantly needing to wash swim suits. :) We can't wait to do it again next year! Definitely planning on making this our annual family vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Nichole! We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves! Come back anytime!

I stayed at this adorable cottage with some friends for two nights. The house is beautifully decorated and has all of the kitchen equipment that you would ever need. Beds were quite comfortable and the whole house was clean and cozy. I especially loved the screen porch - the nighttime chorus of calling frogs and whip-poor-whils was really fun - I loved sitting out on the porch at night/early morning. The housing development is next to and surrounded by Bon Secour wildlife preserve, so if you like a more natural setting (instead of the crowded, loud, commercialized, drunken-college-student spring break haven like Gulf Shores), this is the place for you! The beach nearby is gorgeous with white powder sand and beautiful sunsets. I came to watch bird banding at Ft. Morgan, which is a short trip right down the road. The ferry to Dauphin Island is also right by the entrance to Ft. Morgan - so convenient. There is a pizza shop, mexican restaurant, and convenience store just a few minutes away, as well. This house is a great place to stay for beach, Ft. Morgan, Dauphin Island hiking, biking, birding, or just for relaxing. I recommend this house very highly! And Jeremie was great to work with to make arrangements - it all went quite smoothly! A few words of advise for anyone who wants to visit: the house is surrounded by vegetation, including wetlands - that is a huge part of its appeal, but the wetlands bring with it some bugs. Bring bug spray with you - you will need it morning and evenings. In the hot part of the day, bugs are not a problem. If you spray yourself with bug spray, they are not a problem either - just be prepared. Also...........the sand alongside the main road (Ft. Morgan Road) is deceiving. Do not try to turn around by driving off the main road - there is a high probability of getting your car stuck in the sand. I ran this little experiment on the way to the rental cottage and buried my back tire to the top of the tire, trying to get out. Luckily, a nice man in a truck hooked up a cable to his truck and pulled our car out. Do not let these words of advise dissuade you from renting the cottage. It is a sweet little home in Ft. Morgan. Bring bug spray, stay on the paved road and enjoy a fabulous Ft. Morgan vacation! You will be glad you rented this house! :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you had a great time! Thank you for the kind words! In the information sheet I send to my renters, I have bug spray as an item to bring....maybe I need to go add "don't park or turn around on the sand"! :D Thanks so much for choosing our cottage for your stay. Come again soon! Jeremie

We really enjoyed our stay, The accomodations are very nice and the kitchen was well equipped. The pools were great for our grandchildren, only wish they had restroom facilities at the pool areas. A couple of rugs to help catch the sand in the house would be great. We visited the Fort, rode the bike trail, went geo-caching, visited the beach (saw no oil) and enjoyed the Hang Out at Gulf Shores. My husband saw an alligator under the bridge at the cabin and we saw a large soft shell turtle.Recommended for: Families with young children.

Our large group had a comfortable stay at the cottage. The pools were great and the distance to the beach was just fine. There was lots to do within a car ride. Our only requests: a gas grill, rather than charcoal and a little vacuum sweeper so we could keep the sand under control. Other than that, we found the cottage well stocked with everyday household items and plenty of space to unwind in after a great day or evening at the beach!Owner response: Thanks Carrie! We're glad your family had a great time!
