Lake Seed Mountain Cabin Overlooking Lake

This spacious and rustic treehouse-like cabin overlooks beautiful Lake Seed. Lake Seed is between Lake Burton and Lake Rabun.
Originally built in 1948, this cabin is fantastic for a private lakefront mountain getaway for small groups up to 8. Great for all types of water sports....fishing, skiing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, etc.
Lake Seed is ideal for skiing, since boat traffic is normally minimal. Also, Lake Seed is known for its great fishing spots. Full Boathouse and two kayaks provided. Boats can be dropped in across lake at Lake Seed boat ramp. Boat can be secured to dock next to boathouse.
There is no marina on the lake, which keeps it quiet and peaceful. Boaters bring their own gas. The lake-front area includes a boathouse, fairly large dock and floating dock for boats and fishing.
The town of Clayton is nearby, with adorable shops and galleries. There are great biking areas and hiking trails within walking distance of the house.
Rabun County receives the highest amount of rainfall in Georgia, so the area is very lush. The house does not have air conditioning, since it is seldom necessary and evenings can often be chilly year-round.

We spent a week at this wonderful, charming cabin! The lake is beautiful, the dock could not have been better. We had a great time! The price was very reasonable and the people that own this cabin, even though I didn't meet them personally, I spoke with them several times and it was such a pleasure I felt like I was talking to an old friend! We will definitely be going back!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The Cabin is very nostalgic. It can definatley accomodate a large family. We went with our three children and they did not once complain of boredum, they where out on the lake from sun up to sund down. The Lake is as if someone dug out a whole in the mountains and filled it up with clear crisp water. The whole community is very friendly and festive. We used the Kayaks and were able to enjoy the rich vibrant serenity of the Lake. For the holiday weekend the lake was busy but not overcrowded as most popular lakes are. Seed Lake is definatley one of the states best kept secrets. The steps to the lake are invigorating and the kids had fun multiplying how many they took per day. It is ever so worth every step when you reach the boat house and soak in the view. The Owners have a cozy cabin and were a breeze to work with. The temperatures were in the Mid 80's yet the cabin is nestled in the trees and high atop the mountain so it was very comfortable with the windows open and the fans blowing the breeze around. We were even visited by the neighborhood watch ---the various dogs that reside in the community :). We will be comming back for a visit and have already got the word out to friends and family who may want to get away from the fast life and relax in a historical setting of Lake Seed. A big thanks to the Owners for for sharing your family cabin with us. The listing is accurate regarding location and the photos are true to the cabin and it's surrounding yet dont do justice to the atmosphere and beauty of the area and the cabin is bigger than it looks. The property was very clean and had all you the little things you would need for a vacation or getaway. The lake has a few restaurants close by and there is a Walmart and grocery stores within a half hour, there is talluah falls and rabun beach for extra fun close by the cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

My family spent a week in this cabin last year and had an absolutely wonderful time. The cabin is very secluded and had everything we needed. It was rustic, rambling and a bit unusual, but everyone agreed that added to the charm. It had plenty of room for our group and was very comfortable (5 adults and 2 children). Everything we needed was there and in good working order. It was quite unique and a really fun place to stay. We had been concerned about possibly being too hot without air conditioning, but nights were very cool and fans were more than adequate to keep us comfortable during the day. We had a blast swimming and exploring, but didn't get a chance to use the Kayaks...maybe next time. The whole family agreed that it was great, very inexpensive, and most memorable. My little granddaughters keep asking when we can go back again, and even the teenagers really loved it. Lake Seed is such a beautiful and peaceful lake....it's like stepping back in time. We hope to return before long! The owners were great to work with and even mailed back a couple of things that we had forgotten. It was a great experience.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
