The charming, historic cottage area of Macatawa has been a premier vacation destination for tens of thousands of "city folk" for over 150 years. Dating back to the days of steam ships and trains, "Mac" has been a popular summer retreat for people who traveled from Chicago, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Detroit, and numerous other Midwest cities. Vacationers are inspired by the magical tranquillity and beauty of the miles and miles of pristine sandy beaches and sparkling waters of Lake Michigan. Frank Baum even summered here where he wrote his classic, "The Wizard of Oz."
The bright and airy house with lots of windows and two lounging decks view a scenic shaded ravine teeming with birds and wildlife. The beach is only 700 feet down an easy and gradual slope and is only a short walk to the Holland Harbor, Big Red, Lake Macatawa, The Piper Restaurant, Macatawa Bay Yacht Club.
Michigan's most popular restaurant, gallery strolling and shopping village of Saugatuck is a scenic 10 minute drive south. Holland's downtown, voted one of the best small retail areas in the country is a 10 minute drive east along scenic South Shore Drive.
Whether your perfect vacation is lazing on the beach, building sand castles and swimming with the kids, lots of golfing, shopping, exploring, fishing, watching the boats, or just "getting away from it all," you'll find it all in Macatawa!
