The comfortable open living room with its high ceilings and cozy gas log stove adds to the livability. Special attention was made in the selection of furnishings, custom cabinetry and fixtures to provide comfort and reflect an artistic touch. You’ll find Italian hand-blown light fixtures, Brazilian granite counters, ancient polished limestone shower surround, natural oak floors, Persian carpets, limited edition art prints, luxury linens and plush queen size beds, leather couches and custom upholstered reclining chairs, library of books, and an extensive collection of DVD’s. The kitchen comes fully equipped and includes microwave, ceramic smooth top range, and dishwasher. The downstairs bathroom includes a new front loading washer and dryer. Just off the den, step through the French doors to prepare your dinner on the gas outdoor grill or relax on the flower-filled front porch.
Yew Tree Cottage’s master bedroom upstairs is roomy and bright and is a retreat for guests that desire the luxury of premium linens and a down comforter in a queen-sized bed with a skylight overhead to watch the starry nights. Step through the French doors to the private bath filled with plush, thick towels or check your email at the small office space that overlooks the downstairs.
The downstairs bedroom looks out at the quiet forest to the east and the private backyard on the South. It is furnished with a plush-top queen mattress, 100% Egyptian cotton sheets, and wool blankets and has its own bath just steps away.
A 20 minutes ferry ride from Steilacoom brings you to Anderson Island where you can hike, bike, kayak, bird watch, fish, golf, swim, play horseshoes, volley ball or tennis, view marine life, visit a farm museum, capture your memories through photography, read, or just steep yourself in the peace and quiet away from everyday life. Lake Josephine is ideal for that kayak trip you've been wanting to take, especially convenient since kayaks can be rented on the island. The anglers can fish off piers for bass and trout. Yew Tree Cottage is truly a wonderful place to get away from it all.

My husband Jim and I love to travel and have met wonderful people along the way. Once I was retired we decided to share our love of the Pacific Northwest with our family, friends and guests by building a guest house with the amenities that we have found most enjoyable on our travels. We chose Anderson Island because of its peacefulness and abundant natural beauty, yet its close proximity to Seattle and the amenities that the cities have to offer. The 20 minute ferry trip across Puget Sound to the island seemed to be a natural transition to winding down and we call it our mini-cruise. Our guests love it.
