Terry, we walked into Journeys's End and were speechless! Your online photos are lovely, but do not do the home justice. The view is spectacular, but the home itself was immaculate. Not to mention simply charming. You have a gift for color and decor, we did not want to leave. Your coastal living decor is so in tune with the location. I could have sat out on your sleeping porch all day and watched the action on the river. My husband had such a grand time fishing off the dock, then cooking up the catch on the griil. The grounds were impeccable, with blooming azaleas and camilias. The outdoor shower is amazing! How refreshing and fun! We ate in most of the time, mainly because your kitchen is so well equipped! The beds were so comfortable, I haven't slept this well for years! I love to walk, and your neighborhood provides beautiful homes, fun birdwatching, inviting scenery with the river always in view, and friendly locals. Mostly, it was just so relaxing and exactly what we hoped for. It makes sense why you share your creative skilks during the summer with children and teach them your special brand of art .. There are innovative and creative touches everywhere, Can't wait to come back... Thank you, Terry, for anticipating the comfort of your guests and providing all that a relaxing vacation requires.

High school girlfriends convened here for a fun and relaxing weekend. It is the perfect place to take excursions to Oriental and New Bern for shopping and dining. The Minnesott Golf Club is charming and offers great cuisine. Hop on the ferry and visit Morehead, Harker's Island, and Cape Lookout. The sunsets are spectacular, not only from the cottage's pier or cozy back porch but also from the ferry. I highly recommend this weekend retreat as a getaway with your special friends. What more could you ask than to spend time with dear friends in a charming cottage on the beautiful Neuse River!!

This quaint cottage was the perfect gathering spot for our girls High School Reunion this fall. The gathering spots allowed for stories and laughter shared by good friends along with the music from the good old days. The autumn sunsets were spectacular. Shopping in Oriental coupled with ferry rides and walks on the beach made this a wonderful retreat for our group. We recommend this for a girls getaway and for renewing old friendships.

Just a charming little cottage on the river! Can't say enough about this place. Bikes, dock, fishing, ferry, sandy beach just a short walk away! We enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. Loved the homey touches and the welcome from Terry. This is a great retreat from the world with all of the comforts on home!

We just completed a two night stay at Journey's End Cottage and we're already planning a return visit. This waterfront home will charm you from the moment you walk through the gate into the well maintained yard in which Terry has planted lovely flowers and plants for her guests enjoyment. The smell of rosemary and basil greeted us as we walked up the entrance path. There was also a bush with white flowers that smelled heavenly (not sure what kind it is but it's great)! Upon entering the cottage we immediately felt at home. And Terry had even left fresh flowers from the yard for us to enjoy. I have to admit I love hydrangeas and there were some hydrangeas in the arrangement. Thanks Terry for that special touch! If you appreciate warmth and coziness, you will fall in love with this home. Journey's End has everything you need to enjoy your vacation. There is a well appointed kitchen, plenty of seating (with great views of the river), three comfortable bedrooms with adorable furniture, a "sleeping porch" (also with fabulous views of the river), a dock from which you can fish or just enjoy the river close up and a well landscaped yard. There are even 2 bicycles that guests are free to use to explore the area. And did I mention the hammock? That was our favorite spot during the entire weekend. We spent hours lying in the hammock; alternately napping and listening to the sounds of the outside. It just doesn't get any better than that! We ate breakfast each morning at the Minnesott Golf and Country Club grill that is located about 300 feet (a short but very pleasant walk) from the cottage's front door. Thanks Terry for the suggestion! The food and coffee were excellent. I highly recommend the Cinnamon French Toast! Golfers bring your clubs and shoes! From our perch in the hammock we could even watch the ferrys as they went back and forth across the river - very convenient for anyone wanting to take a day trip to Beaufort or one of the nearby Crystal Coast beaches. The cottage is also just a short ride to Oriental and New Bern, NC. Terry is so easy to work with. I feel like we made a new friend. We will definitely be back to visit this immaculately clean and cozy cottage and we will tell all our friends and family about this well kept secret. Thanks,Terry, for accomodating us at the last minute! Our weekend was amazing! We haven't been this well rested in ages and it's all thanks to our visit to Journey's End!

Owner response: Receiving your review is the essence of a cottage owners dream. Thank you for your reflection of the time spent on the Neuse River. I enjoyed meeting you both and am so pleased to learn that you came away rested and renewed. That hammock is total therapy for those needing a relaxing retreat. I look forward to your return to Journey's End Cottage and to learning more about your rental in the mountains of VA. Thank you for choosing Journey's End and for sharing your experience there. Happy Summer Days!

My husband and I recently stayed at Journey's End and had a FANTASTIC TIME!! The house is wonderfully decorated and very comfortable - we didn't want for anything except a longer stay. The pier is awesome and we caught fish everyday. The short ferry ride into Haveloc makes for a nice day excursion with stops at Lew's Bait and Tackle and pizza at Mario's so even though Minnesott Beach is quiet and low-key, things to do aren't that far away. From the pier you can watch the planes take off and land at the Marine base and I enjoyed that too. I highly recommend this house, the cottage next to it, and this area to anyone who wants a nice place to stay, a relaxing time and good fishing!! Thanks Terry!!!!

My husband and I visited Journey's End to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I needed a place to unwind and take time to just "BE". This was exactly what I needed and had been looking for. The home is lovely. Terry has it well maintained and well stocked with everything one would need to have a "home" "away from home". The Neuse River provided a panoramic setting for watching dolphins and stunning sunsets. In talking with the owner over the phone while making my plans, I felt like I had known her my whole life. She has a beautiful eye for decor and her love of art is evident throughout the home. If you need a family friendly home and/or a place to unwind you will definitely find it at Journey's End. Forgot to mention the BEACH after the Ferry ride at Minessott Beach is less than 45 minutes away and was wonderful!!!

Our annual girl's weekend retreat to Journey's End was once again a success! Gorgeous weather greeted us all weekend and there is nothing like a good night's rest on the sleeping porch. This time we got to enjoy the new dock addition and the experience of the outdoor shower. We greeted the morning sun with coffee on the dock and ended the day toasting the sunset over a tranquil water view. This place just takes you back in time when life was enjoyed at a slower pace. I can't say enough great things about the owner and this magical place.

I spent a total of about two weeks at Journeys End this summer. The peace and quiet, and the knotty pine floors and walls and the homliness of home makes this place special! But what makes it extroadinary is the sleeping porch with two beds and the outside shower with a big ole rain drop shower head! (Exilerating!) The sunset view on the Neuse amongst the array of huge trees and shrubs as the charcoal webber grill smells up the air with the days catch! Spectacular! Did I mention fishing right in your own backyard! I am certain this place will not disappoint!
