Great weekend getaway!

We stayed 12/2-12/5 and had a great time! The cabin is better than described, and we loved all of the Elvis photos. We always come up for a weekend in December to see the beautiful Christmas lights and shop at Tanger. We had an issue with the keyless entry system upon arrival, but I called Doug and we were inside the cabin within 5 minutes. There was plenty of room for 8 of us, and the kids loved the pool table and air hockey. The hot tub and fireplace was nice for the adults. We planned on swimming in the heated pool at the resort but were too busy running around. The location was great, close to the strip but back roads available to miss a lot of the traffic. Thanks for allowing us to use your beautiful cabin! If you are looking for a nice 4 BR cabin then stop looking and stay at Mountain Splendor.

Our family of 5 adults and two babies rented for 5 days and could not have asked for better accommodations - just perfect for us - close to all activities and very comfortable. They have even thought to provide a baby gate for the stairs and a booster seat. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and the cabin was just as shown in the pictures. We will highly recommend this cabin to our friends and family - ideal for anyone wanting to get away from the fast paced (read "slow traffic and major traffic jams") of the strip. This area is so much fun to visit - we will be back - and with luck this cabin will be available for us to rent again.

My girl friends and I stayed at the Lighthouse and it was a beautiful cabin! Everything you need was there with the exception of a phone although they offered free local calls. Some cells got reception others didn't. When we arrived the master bedroom did not have electricity but when I called Doug he had someone out immediately to fix that. Everything you could need is available in the kitchen. The decks are wonderful, spent most of our cabin time on the deck. The pool is within walking distance if you are in excellent shape, otherwise you might want to drive to the pool. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend the cabin to others.
Owner response:Thanks for the wonderful comments. We did decide to remove our phone service as everyone uses their cell phones and this would help us keep our rates low.

I will say the house was gorgeous, everything in its pictures, roomy with lots to do in the house itself. We had a great time despite the few issues we had. Our favorite part was the patio set on the top floor, better than the one pictured and a great place to have coffee in the morning and just visit. Major issue we had was the satellite didn't work, took four days to get the TVs working with us calling Dish ourselves a few times, having to stay at the cabin Saturday so the Dish guy could attempt to fix it, wasn't fixed until Monday after another Dish visit and that guy saying the limbs were obstructing the signal (which the guy Saturday should have told us IMO), we had to go get DVDs because a couple of the adults and kids go to sleep watching TV. Also the fireplace didn't work which the housekeeper and her friend couldn't fix, a couple of the chilly nights it would have been nice to have a fire. We found phone outlets but there was not one phone in the entire cabin, good thing our cell got service for the local calls we needed to make. The air hockey paddles were missing when we got there, one was under the futon and the other we found later in the week in a closet. The housekeeper did bring some the next day. My concern with this is if we found it under the futon that means she didn't clean under it or she would have found it and that makes me question what else wasn't cleaned as it should be. When cleaning and readying a house I would think making sure the TV and other equipment works and pieces actually where they are supposed to be before the renters get there would be the way to do it. I also thought the housekeeper leaving an envelope in the guest book requesting a tip was inappropriate - we paid a cleaning fee in our rental, I have rented houses before and this is the first that asked for a tip. If they fix the fireplace, get an actual phone plugged in somewhere, keep the TV working and all the hockey equipment where it is supposed to be all future renters will have a fantastic time. We did address the issues with the owner via phone and email who turned it all over to the housekeeper to handle. Like I said we loved the house, just dissappointing for the price we paid to have this many issues to deal with as soon as we got in the door basically. Would stay again if all problems were fixed.

My Parents, brother, his wife and 2 kids, my self, husband and 2 kids had a wonderful stay! The cabin was beautiful and close to attractions. We had plenty of room. The kids LOVED the hot tub. This is the first vaction we have taken as an entire family and it was AWESOME! I hope we are able to come back again sometime. The owner was very friendly and helpful. If you love Elvis -- you will love the decor. The pictures do not do the cabin justice.

This cabin was perfect for our large family gathering during the grandkids spring break. They loved the game room and the swimming pool. I loved the kitchen! It was equipped with everthing we needed to fix our meals and the grill on the upper deck was so convenient. My favorite part of it all was sitting in the porch swing and just relaxing. The kids loved the heated pool and I would have to say I think this is the best spring break they've had. We all wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks so much for the use of your home. Loved It!

Our grown children and grandchildren met at Mountain Splendor for a four night getaway in July. We had never been to the Smokey Mountains, even though we were only three hours away. The beach had been our destination for many years. Mountain Splendor was indeed splendid. Although it rained so much that we could have ridden the kids boogie boards down the mountain, the vacation was the most restful we've ever experienced. Doug and Sandra went out of their way to make the cabin accommodating. The location is convenient and the cabin is clean and comfortable. What a wonderful, restful home away from home.
