Walk the beach 15 minutes to the West and have great chowder at a fantastic seafood restaurant, or spend time playing in the water, strolling the beach for shells, or watching the kids play in the waves with the boogie boards we have left for you. From your home, you can also take a five minute walk to the Douglas Family Preserve - an ocean front public undeveloped area for walking and bicycling. We've left you a bicycle built for two and kid's bikes for that purpose! In the other direction, a five minute walk will get you to Lazy Acres, voted among the best Natural/Gourmet stores in the country!
Their deli makes eating home simple and delicious. Our local Mesa Village shopping center (a pleasant 10 minute walk) includes Starbucks, Manhattan Bagel, a pizzeria, Mexican, Thai and Chinese food, ice cream and smoothie shop, Drug Store, Grocery Store, fast food and the Mira Bella Salon.
Our local park complete with play structure and swings is a 10 minute walk and good for kids of all ages. A public bus stop is also available just one block from home and which takes you downtown.
Downtown Santa Barbara is just two miles away, and we often ride bikes. Santa Barbara is a very special place. Bordered by the ocean and mountains, it retains it's small community feel while offering all the culture of a much bigger city. Full of activities for people of all ages, its natural beauty draws visitors from all over the world. As we hope you can tell, our is a very special home. When built in 1927, it was the 'manor' house of the area. It is still considered by many to be the 'jewel' of the neighborhood. It is our primary residence during the school year, and we've worked hard to make it a comfortable, beautiful and enjoyable place to spend time. We share it during our summer travels, and hope it can make your travels to Santa Barbara even more special. |
