Exceptional Experience

From start to finish, our experience with Bernadette and Jorge was superb. Great communication, perfect directions and best of all a terrific venue. It is just as described and how it looks in the pictures. Beautiful place to set-up your base for exploring nearly all areas of Amsterdam. Also the apartment was clean, spacious and had plenty of hot water. The 397 Airport Express bus is on the same street and only roughly a 8-9 minute walk away. The stairs from the entrance to their first floor flat are small and steep, but you have to expect that in Amsterdam. Overall very highly recommended!!

Amazing Place in an Amazing Neighbourhood

It's a lovely place on the edge of the Jordaan with a view that you can (and we did) just gaze on every night with a glass of wine. Bernadette was very good with near instant responses as we were setting up our trip, and she even booked a restaurant for us. You arrive there, and there are all the staples in the fridge and cupboard. This buys you valuable time while you get the lay of the neighbourhood. And this neighbourhood is where you want to be--it's away from the hoards of tourists that are closer to downtown, located close to many great restaurants: Go to Jun for the best Indonesian meal that you will ever have. Moeders is great for Dutch fare. Both within easy walking distance. If you like gin, stroll to Razamataz for a master-class in gin and tonics. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks for everything Bernadette, Jorge and Karen!

Wonderful home away from home

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jorge and Bernadette's apartment while we explored Amsterdam. It was well located, very clean and had everything we needed to make our holiday a success. There were some lovely touches such as coffee, granola and a few other provisions left for us as well. One of our favorite things was sipping tea with the doors open, and enjoying the canal view. I would highly recommend this apartment.

Would love to return!

The whole stay was enjoyable from start to finish. Our hosts were very friendly, helpful and always with a genuine smile and pleased to help. They gave us great advise on the easiest way to get to the apartment, sat down with us and a map of the area (Jorge provided the map!), a list of restaurants and stores/markets close by as well. The apartment was in a terrific location close to many restaurants, shopping etc. The apartment is super clean and has great views of the canal to sit with your coffee or wine and watch the boats go by. We walked everywhere we went and enjoyed this lovely city. The apartment was larger than we thought it would be and had everything we needed for the kitchen, bathroom, bedding etc. The tv also had English channels if you wanted to catch up on the news. The bed was quite comfortable and had blackout curtains that makes for a great sleep. The city itself was more than I expected. The people are so friendly and really seem to enjoy life and people (and dogs if you are a dog lover!). Just note that there are a lot of bikes and a specific area for bikes and scooters ONLY, do not walk in them thinking it’s a large pedestrian path! Lol. A few good places to people watch is the Waterkant which is located on the other side of the Texaco (where you get off the 397 bus from the airport). It’s right on the canal and has many places to sit outside. We also spend quite a bit of time at the Cafe on the corner located just across the street from the Heineken Experience. Just sitting at the small tables outside for hours watching the traffic and people go by. Try the chicken panini! Boris the chef is super friendly along with Wesley,Martin and the female bartender (sorry I can’t recall her name). This place and people made our experience so memorable. Thank you. Can’t wait to go back!

Great location with everything we needed

From the moment we meet Bernadette and Jorge at the apartment we felt like we were staying in a guest house of good, kind friends. They stocked the apartment with fruit, milk, cereal, coffee and more than enough toiletries & detergent for our stay. Jorge even kindly came down late one evening to help me get logged into the computer so I could print out the train tickets I had left at home (turns out the pound sign when using UK language is the currency pound sign!). There was an unusual warm spell the week of our stay and we were very glad of the 2 fans they had set out for us. The bathroom is nice and large and we appreciated the combo washer/dryer. The location is ideal because of the many trams that intersect at the corner so we never had to wait long to catch the next one (I recommend getting a multi day tram pass). The apartment is in the city so can be a bit noisy but once the windows were closed, we slept well on the comfortable bed. At checkout, they didn’t have a long list of duties - just put the keys in a dish and go. We walked the 10 minutes to the airport bus stop they recommended and were very glad they suggested we arrive at Schiphol at least 3 hours before the flight! Thank you again Bernadette and Jorge! I would highly recommend this apartment.
