A delightful island setting in one of the most serene areas of the British Virgin Islands. Within close proximity to mainland services, there are no commercial facilities on the island. 2 cars, a workboat and 15 foot Caribe inflatable for your own use provides easy transportation.

Magnificent views over 260 degree vista across Sir Francis Drake channel to Virgin Gorda, Marina Cay, Scrub resort, Beef Island and on to smaller islands and finally U.S. Virgins are unforgetable, most especially at sunrise.

This waterfront home is located on a private residential estate, Indigo Plantation, which offers complete privacy with your own designated dockage within the Indigo marina. There is a tennis court for you between the marina and one of the many bathing beaches. For your further pleasure there are several Community historic remains, private rock pools, bathing beaches and other such amenities, all within then Plantation.

Red Rocks has recently been completed (2009) to a high specification. The main house provides spacious internal and external lounge areas, dining terraces, kitchen and master bedroom suite. A charming terrace and pool deck is easily accessed from the main living room.

Two additional bedroom guest cottage suites, Loblolly and Paloma, are set below the main house with a linking drive and walkway sheltered by numerous shady trees.

The Red Rocks caretaker, Lennox Sergeant, is a gem! He will be available to captain the owners’ power boat for commuting between Beef Island and Great Camanoe. Arrival and departure crossings are included in rental rate, additional trips or service can easily be arranged by optional request.

The estate accommodates six in three full bedrooms, each with additional space and private baths, and maximum of 2 children in comfortable lounge day beds. There is a minimum of 12 years in age for the children as the decks, rocks and cliff can be hazardous.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

This wonderful family compound is owned by a long retired New England academic orthopaedic surgeon, his wife and their Professor of Cardiology daughter. We have been in the BVI since 1978 when we built the home on westerly boundary.
When it was sold in 2005, the family missed it far more than anticipated. Since we still owned land next door, we designed and just finished the new one. Given same site and exposure, this house has every mistake discovered in 30 years living at the old one more than corrected. It is not far from perfect. (For us!)

Why the Owner Chose Great Camanoe

The Caribbean, as a whole, is not the world's easiest destination. But the British Virgins are about the easiest to get to if you are going to the Caribbean.
San Juan is a world hub with hundreds of direct, many non-stop, flights from all over the globe. The San Juan to Tortola leg (SJU to EIS) is just 35 minutes. From Vermont we are on the deck by same day mid afternoon.
