This is very poorly advertised. It is a far stretch from being newly done. It is a 6 floor walk up, steep & narrow steps. The pictures were obviously not taken recently. The lock broke within our first 30 minutes of being there & we were locked inside with our family outside for over an hour & a half, during which time we couldn't always get an answer or leave a message with the numbers we had. Upon getting home we were refunded $100 after I complained of being locked in & the 6 floor walk up. It's also very noisy! Across the street from a bar & next door to a lumberyard. However it is close to the subway.
Owner response:The apartment was renovated 3 months ago and the photos are in the process of being updated. There are not any major differences, furniture and beds are same size and at the same places, only their colors might be different. Also new blankets and covers are being bought every month on occasions because of the normal wear and tear and may look different from the photos. It is 5 flights up from street level, not 6 as the customer says. The lock did break after the client Checked In and although some other companies might have charged the client a damage deposit for the broken lock we did exactly the opposite. Even though we were not sure the broken lock was our fault, right after the client called our office my colleague took care of it promptly. She called right away the building Super who unfortunately was at the other end of town busy with other repairs. Right after that she found a locksmith company online, she called them, gave them the address, paid them by credit card over the phone and they said they will be at the apartment location immediately to fix it. At this point we were not in control how fast the locksmith would manage to get to the apartment location, this is New York City after all, not some small town. As far as we understood they got there in 30-40mins. The whole thing took about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes during which time the guest called us about 25-30 times, usually every 30 seconds to a minute asking us why the apartment is not fixed and when it will be fixed. In fact the guest was calling so often that my colleague who was taking care of the problem had to stop her conversation with the Super in the middle and then again 2 or 3 times with the locksmith company in order to answer the guest who was repeatedly asking when the apartment will be fixed while not quite letting my colleague actually finish her calls in order to fix it. In any case the matter was resolved as promptly as it was possible in such a huge and busy city like New York City. Of course as you noticed from the review the guests were not happy and after they Checked Out they sent us an e-mail asking for a refund. Although of course we paid for the lock fixing and did not quite comprehend why the client is asking for a refund we decided to refund them $100 with the hope that would make them happy. Obviously it did not. Noise levels are higher Fri/Sat night otherwise it is a small street and for Manhattan not really that noisy.
