Incredible location.... Beachfront at the mouth of Charleston Harbor, this charming ground floor condominium has views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Charleston Harbor.
The wide sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, fishing, or launching small sailboats. The National Park Service and the Town of Sullivan's Island maintain over a mile of undeveloped, protected beach and maritime forest adjacent to the property where you can have undisturbed strolls on the beach. The condo is immediately next door to Fort Moultrie, a National Historic Site with museum and tours, that played significant roles in both the Revolutionary War and Civil War. Fort Sumter, site of the first conflict of the Civil War, can be seen across the harbor. The main channel into Charleston lies nearby, allowing clear views of every ship passing into or out of the harbor. Dolphins play just off shore.
This condo is one of four individually owned units that were originally built as Army Nurse's quarters circa 1910, and are the only vacation rental beachfront condominiums on Sullivan's Island. This unique historic property preserves the charm of the hundred year old structure, but this unit has been renovated and professionally decorated to appeal to today's traveler. The condominium features large front and back screened porches with rocking chairs, swing, and dining areas. Inside, the original hardwood floors give the condominium the feel of an old Southern beach cottage, while providing all modern amenities including flat panel HDTVs (2), stereo with iPod dock, and Wi-Fi. The ground floor location allows easy access with parking only a few steps away. A local management staff is just down the street to take care of your needs.
Sullivan's Island provides a location that is quiet, uncrowded, with a very relaxed lifestyle. There is not a single traffic light on the island. The island is primarily residential; yet it has several excellent restaurants, post office, dry cleaners, art gallery, and small grocery store within a mile of the condo. The three mile long island is perfect for exploring by bicycle or golf cart. Public tennis courts and playground are just down the street. One of the beauties of this quiet oceanfront paradise is that it is only a 15 minute drive from historic downtown Charleston and even closer to the shopping and dining areas of Mount Pleasant.

Historic Beachfront Condo -Spectacular Charleston Harbor Views
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Sullivan's Island
We wanted a beachfront location that was free of crowds, quiet and relaxing, yet close to excellent dining and entertainment. We enjoy the history of Charleston from the old rice plantations to the fine pre-revolutionary city homes. Charleston has a grace and charm that few American cities possess. From the performances of the Spoleto Festival, the excellent antique shopping, the tours of historic sites, to the Shrimp boats and fishing charters on Shem Creek, Charleston captivates. Sullivan's Island provides easy access to all this, but seems a world away from the bustle.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
This is an extremely relaxing location, beachfront at the Charleston harbor entrance where dolphins play, and you get close up views of all the ships entering the harbor. The island is perfect for bicycle riding, has several excellent restaurants within a mile, and is loaded with history. Outdoor activities abound, from deep sea fishing, to wildlife tours of the salt march, to excellent golf on nearby Isle of Palms.
Key battle fought here in the Revolutionary War gave South Carolina the nickname "Palmetto State". Edgar Allen Poe was stationed here, and Seminole chief Osceola is buried here
Owned by the City of Sullivan's Island and the National Park Service, the beach and adjoining maritime forest seem to be your own private reserve.
Several excellent restaurants including Atlanticville and High Thyme, and casual places like Dunleavy's and Poe's.
Enjoy shops, an old fashion soda counter, or dinner in the Old Village
Beautiful Homes, Great Restaurants, and Incredible History. Take a carriage ride through downtown.
Where the War of Northern Aggression started. Take a tour boat from Patriots Point
Owner's Map of Sullivan's Island
We are a family of four from Atlanta who have been vacationing in the Charleston area and South Carolina Low Country for many years. We have come to enjoy the Charleston area best of all. We find the combination of Southern Charm, history, shopping, and excellent food compelling. Now that we have an anchor at Sullivan's Island, we are happy to share the beautiful, quiet beach; access to wonderful local restaurants -- especially seafood; friendly locals; historic Ft. Moultrie, Ft. Sumter (viewed from our condo), the beautiful ships coming into Charleston Harbor; and historic, authentic, Charleston!

I come back to Sullivan's Island as much as I can and I stay at this condo every time. It is the perfect "beachy" escape -- wonderful living areas, big kitchen, renovated bath and a perfect porch facing the water. Delightful for sitting and reading a book and watching the big ships go by as the sun sets. Steps away from the beach -- for sunbathing or taking long, lazy walks. The condo is charming and well appointed, yet casual enough to feel relaxed. I never want to leave. The entire experience, from renting to arriving to enjoying every day we were there was perfect.

Have rented many places in the Charleston area. This is now my favorite spot to return to year after year.Whether you are rocking, swinging or enjoying a meal - the screened porch offers spectacular views of the Charleston Harbor. Inside the house is lovely, even more important - very comfortable, and the kitchen is stocked with all you need to prepare a quick cup of coffee or a complete dinner. The newly renovated bathroom is the perfect final touch. The owners have filled their home with lovely touches. I feel more like a house-guest than a renter!

We stayed in this lovely home the second week in May and have been raving about it ever since. The location is perfect. Every morning after breakfast we had fantastic walks on the beach - not a bad way to start the day - and wonderful evening strolls before bedtime. In between we explored the forts, the plantations, and Charleston itself. There was so much to do that at times it was difficult to decide. Overall I would rate this as one of my best vacations ever and would love to visit again in the near future.

This is a fantastic location and place to stay with your family. We have two children both under the age of 3 and they just loved it. We spent a big part of the day on the screened porch playing and watching the boats go by. It was really entertaining for them both. The set up is great - the new owners have really done a fantastic job. Love the decor, beds were comfortable, kitchen was set up well. Most important... everything was clean!!! Thanks again, The Kelly's

Fabulous location! Great view of the ocean, as photos show and as described. The condo was even nicer that the pictures showed which was a wonderful surprise. Everything was well maintained and supplied with up-to-date equipment. Kitchen was well stocked. Wonderful porch and large yard. Very convenient to Mount Pleasant and Charleston for activities and shopping or you would never have to leave the island! Great eating places near by. The owner was very helpful. We have already recommended this property to several friends.

Enjoy your morning coffee sitting in the swing on the wonderful screened porch as you listen to the sound of the waves, the gulls, and the ocean breeze bringing the excitement of the new day. Just a few steps away from the beach, and you're ready to work on that summer tan or sit and read the latest novel. Take a day from the beach and visit the nearby historical sights and bask in real world southern charm as you stroll through downtown Charleston with its wonderful restaurants and shoppes. Drive or bike around Sullivan's Island and stop to enjoy lunch at the local eateries. The property is beautifully decorated with all conveniences, including wi-fi. There is such an ambiance that the minute you walk into the living area, you are ready to kick off you shoes, grab a cool beverage, and let the stress just begin to melt away. What more could you ask for in a beach condominium? One stay will bring you home: time and time again.

An idyllic spot!! I loved sitting on the adirondack chairs at the edge of the huge lawn (perfect for kids to play) bordering the dunes. From there I could look at the wide beach, the varied boats coming and going from Charleston harbor, Fort Sumter, and the gorgeous Charleston bridge. When our family had enough sunbathing and swimming, we explored the other Civil War fort right across the street, along with the trails and undeveloped, uncrowded beach area in front of the fort. It was a good thing there were lots of opportunities for exercise because I don't think we've ever eaten so well on another vacation! Not only does Sullivan's Island have wonderful restaurants, getting to Charleston's countless seafood restaurants is fast and easy. My teenagers also loved all the shopping nearby and in Charleston. The photos accurately reflect that this isn't your typical beach condo. From the historic building to the renovated, beautifully decorated rooms, this rental lives up to your expectations. Parking on the side of the building makes it easy to bring in your suitcases and groceries. We slept wonderfully in the well appointed bedrooms (it is quiet here!). The screened front porch was a favorite place for eating breakfast and late afternoon reading, after we had gotten plenty of sun. My husband really appreciated the wifi since he brought his laptop with him (it made it easy to check movie theatre schedules and research menus!). It was so peaceful being right on the beach, especially since there aren't any packed hotels or condos nearby. Yet there was still plenty to see and do in the immediate area. We will absolutely try to return here; definitely recommended!
