  My family and I stayed for a long weekend in mid-October. My wife and I have three boys all at 5 years or younger. The cottage is well-kept and very clean. New appliances and many of the amenities for those of us that don't want to completely "rough it." The property is just big enough for the kids to run around and have fun. Although we we're able to get in the lake due to the season, the boys loved the beach to dig in the sand and we had a few canoe rides to check out the lake and the wildlife. We tried fishing but I think they have headed for deeper water due to the time of the year. We had a nice fire going for most of the evenings either in the cottage or on the deck near the beach. My wife and I had a chance to relax over the weekend and the boys had a blast. Stopped in South Haven on the way home for lunch and drove along the scenic route down the lake on our way back. I would definitely recommend this property for a family looking to get away for a long weekend or more, especially in the summer when there's more to do outside with the weather.

  If you are looking for a place to get away with family and friends this is the place. The house is very nice and clean with all the amenities you would ever need and the lake front is amazing. They converted the boathouse into a small bar to provide the prefect tropical atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to spend time with the family and friends.

  Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.

  This was such a great little cottage!! We especially loved the boat house (turned into a tiki bar) down by the water with the fire pit. The place was clean and kept up! The bedrooms were a little small for our party (four adults and two 2 year olds) but if you have one family (or just two couples) it is perfect! We lucked out with the weather so it didn't bother us too much! Another bonus for small children and the dog was the gate at the top of the stairs. Thank you for sharing your cottage. We hope to be back next year!

  This cottage is very clean . 2 bedrooms, familyroom and tv upstairs, kitchen and bath with a walkout to the patio downstairs. The area is quiet and peacefull. From the patio to the beach the view of the lake is breathtaking. The water is clear, and perfect for the kids to swim. Sandy beach. Nice paver patio with a firepit right at the beach. We took out the canoe and had a great time checking out the lake. Shopping is only a half hour away (South Haven, Saugatuck) .Just a note. In the owners profile they write that the pontoon may be available, and when we made our reservation, we were told verbally that " if the pontoon was running, we could use it". Unfortunately, when we got to the cottage, we received a phone call stating that the boat should not be used. It was disappointing though, as that was what sold us on this rental. That aside, the canoe worked out perfect. The two of us and our small dog took leasurly strolls along the lake shoreline, and had a great time. I would suggest this place to everyone.

  Thanks Barb and Dan. Our stay at your home in Michigan was absolutely wonderful. It brought back very fond memories of my childhood. We loved having our coffee on the patio with the hummingbirds, chipmunks, fish jumping and of course, Cooper. We shopped South Haven & Saugatuck, golfed the Chesire and biked the Kal-Haven. We had fantastic weather, aside from the storm on Mon., and spent every day in the water. We were taking one last everning cruise on the lake Sat. and hit one of the sandbars (we knew it was there and weren't paying attention) and had to get a tow in from a neighboring pontoon boat, when someone on board commented "I love that little gray cottage." It is very simple, yet quite charming and very comfortable. Thanks again for making our vacation so enjoyable. We'd love to do it again. Jodi & Bob Szczypinski

  Thanks SO Much Barb & Dan for a wonderful week at the cottage. We happened to get a week of solid rain (luck of the draw) but we still had a Great Time! The canoe was used several times, our Lab played non-stop fetching in the lake and we got a chance to visit all the little towns around Great Bear Lake and of course, South Haven. The cottage is comfortable and homey - very nice and clean, as well as, accomodating! Thanks Again - we really enjoyed ourselves.

  We loved your cottage on Great Bear Lake! Your place is better than anything we’ve rented in the past 10 years - it’s sooooo perfect!!! I loved that you’ve preserved much of the vintage 40’s cottage style, it reminded me of the cottages I stayed in with my family when I was growing up. Your attention to detail is what makes your cottage stand out above all the rest, you’ve done an excellent job.
